It feels funny without AndiF here to start us off at dawn, doesn’t it?
Hopefully she’ll have internet access and will post a hiking pic soon.
Until then:
A young squirrel tried to escape the heat by lounging in a shaded pot on my deck with my eucalyptus plant:
OMG! That is priceless, SN!
We now have a plethora of young squirrels here, because I rescued an abandoned one, and he brought friends with him from the wildlife rescuers when it was time for him to be released.
What was I thinking?
They are fun to watch though. After the dirt in the pot warmed up, he sprawled out, balls-down, on the deck railing. You know it’s hot out when even the critters look exhausted by the heat.
That’s hysterical, how he’s just draped over the railing. How hot is it there, anyway?
We’ve had 5 days over 100 in the past 10 days….today will be 94 and that seems tolerable. Ick.
Yesterday was unbelievably sticky here, but we’re supposed to drop down to the 70s for the early part of the week. I hope some of that heads down your way, too.
It seems early in the summer to be so hot, doesn’t it?
It does seem early for this kind of heat – it’s definitely not the norm. The good thing, as FM would say, is that the grass stopped growing… 🙂
Heh. We’ve had enough rain here for the grass to just continue to grow and grow…much to CBtE’s chagrin.
Good morning CG and SN.
Hope you get some relief from the heat SN. I think we’re supposed to be in the 80’s this week.
I missed Andi this w/e. I hope they’re having a good time on their vacation.
Hi FM!
I hope Andi and Jim find an intertube and post a picture or two…and is it wrong that a week after being home, I’m ready for another vacation?
Hi CG.
I hope they find and intertube too. I’ve always felt if you took a vacation far away from home, you need at least a week at home doing nothing. Then when you start back to work, you only work a day or two per week for the first month. Vacations take a lot out of you, and you should be given the time to get back into the swing of work. 😉
Hi all. Weather sucks here (more rain), gotta run.
Hi and bye, b2!
It is effing hot here!
107 and climbing…
ugh
Hello? Is anyone here?
Good morning, TT!
On my second cup of joe and enjoying a gorgeous morning. It seems the heat and humidity vanished with the heavy thunderstorms last night. Only 63 this morning.
Has your sabbatical started?
I am. At least until I have to run to court. 😉
I’m here too…just decided to sleep in a little.
Toni and ask. Sure is quiet without Andi.
We’re going to have cooler weather too, with temps only in the high 80s which will feel very very nice compared to the unspeakably hot weather we’ve been having.
My daughter moved home from college with new critters and then promptly left for the summer. It has made for some interesting introductions around here. Here, Smoochy tries to figure out a way to get closer to the new beta fish in town:
Birds, fish, what else did you get? 🙂
That’s a great picture, btw.
We got tons of junk, er, all of her worldly household goods…
Sigh, and me on a quest for pared-down living…
Would it be naive of me to ask if her stuff is just there for the summer? 😉
Who knows, CG. She’s got to either get a job and start paying back 20K in student loans with an anthropology degree, join the peace corps, or go to grad school and put it off another year or two.
Hmmm. What jobs are available to someone with an anthropology degree? Do you work at a museum?
Sounds like grad school or the peace corps might not be a bad idea. How does she feel about the peace corps?
She completed her application a year ago and now her boyfriend is whining about her leaving for 27 months, so she’s rethinking. But she still really wants to do it.
If the boyfriend is worth it, he’ll still be there when she gets back…if not, she’s better off. It’s a win-win, right?
Okay, I’m here too. I have to break silence to tell SN what a wonderful photo that is.
I always feel sorry for beta fish who are forced into that solitary life.
Yeah, I know they fight. But the ocean is not empty of other life. It seems like isolation should be a matter of choice. What a terrible price they pay for beauty.
I’m just going to sit down here and wait for Melanchthon to set up the patio for brunch.
Might have to step away for a moment and do some work.
I agree about the fish. It makes me sad. 🙁
Good morning everyone.
I’m starting out really slow this morning. Just getting my first cup of coffee.
Don’t sweat it, FM. It’s well known that summer time in Hooterville moves at 1/10th the speed of time elsewhere. So it’s really still the crack of dawn there.
That’s awesome. It’s amazing the lack of legs this story has….
