‘The King and I’ cult

Does Bush have a cult-like following? Apparently so.

“The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar – or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).”

The cultish behavior starts at the top, where we find a White House senior staff full of glassy-eyed adherents who robotically spout the glories of Dear Leader no matter what question they are asked. Other cult traits at the top include the rigid discipline, extreme loyalty and the long, gruel hours, which cult researchers describe as a way to exert mind control over adherents because constantly exhausted people cannot think for themselves.

Among the general populace of Bush worshippers – which, according to the polls is around 40 percent of the U.S. population equaling over 100 million of us! – we find blind obedience to the Bush line, the belief that President Bush is infallible and, especially, the mind-bending contortions of logic they spout when confronted by President Bush’s obvious failings, including reflexively blaming the Democrats for whatever the president may have done and, if that doesn’t work, launching a tirade on President Clinton’s sex life.

Cults are dangerous in any form. When people stop thinking for themselves- and this does happen- they become puppets.
With all the evidence of republican puppets all around us one could conclude that there is a BUSH cult.
