And I mean literally bullsh**t, as in this mound of manure left outside the the offices of the Warren County Democratic Party in Ohio:
LEBANON — Members of the Warren County Democratic Party are saying they are shocked and disappointed at finding a nasty prank Tuesday morning outside their headquarters.
Someone left a 3-foot tall by 15-foot long pile of horse manure in the parking lot of the headquarters, at 1975 N. Route 42, just north of Lebanon.
Kim Bergman was driving to work when she spotted the manure.
“I think it was totally disgusting what these people did,” Bergman said. “I’m kinda shocked that someone would go to that extreme.”
Now please google Manure and “Republican Party Headquarters.” Jeez, no stories about piles of manure dumped at the offices of Republicans. Now do a google news search on violence “Republican Party Headquarters” vs a news search on violence “Democratic Party Headquarters.” Two stories appear with respect to the Republicans, neither of which has to do with violence committed against Republican offices. What turns up for for Democrats? This story headlined “Shots Fired at Mobile Democratic Party HQ.”
MOBILE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Mobile Police Department is investigating a shooting incident at the Mobile County Democratic Party Headquarters. No one was injured. […]
“I am definitely shaken and the volunteers who were here working on behalf of Democratic candidates are shaken,” said [Mobile Democratic Chairman] Bracy.
And then there is this story from last month:
A small explosion of some kind occurred Monday afternoon in a mailbox outside the home of Indiana Democratic congressional candidate Brendan Mullen.
A law enforcement official told TPM on Tuesday that authorities are investigating a spate of incidents involving similar explosions. Four such explosions have occurred in and around Granger, Ind., where Mullen lives, in the last 24 hours, according to David Coulson, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Or what about this story regarding a man arrested for making bomb threats to a Democratic Party headquarters in May:
Federal authorities charged a Madison man Friday with making a telephone threat in February to blow up the offices of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, among more than 100 calls, many threatening, that he allegedly placed to the office this year.
William O. Diederich, 61, repeatedly threatened to shoot Democrats and those supporting the recall of Gov. Scott Walker in phone calls he made to the Democratic Party’s office at 110 King St. in January, February and March, according to an affidavit by FBI agent Joseph Lavelle, filed in U.S. District Court in Madison.
A steaming pile of bullshit, gunshots fired, bomb threats and explosions at Democratic Headquarters and/or locations related to Democratic candidates. Crickets at Republican Headquarters and or Republican candidates. I wonder why?
Yeah Steven, I gotta say, being a Democrat in Warren County Ohio is a laugh a minute. The prevailing view in this highly Republican county is, “Just a harmless prank. What’s the big deal?”
Yeah, I guess that makes it our fault. We just don’t have a sense of humor around here.
Just a prank. Yeah right. But if it were reversed it would be on drudge and fox 24×7 for a week.
And hello to Warren County! I thought that was Warren, where I have lots of family, but I looked it up and see you are closer to Cincy. Still okay by me – I went to college in Oberlin, Ohio and have fond memories of the state.
Yeah, I live in Warren County. That’s our party headquarters. There was a ton of press locally about this, so in some ways it might not have played out as intended by the perpetrators. Hopefully, this is an indication that local Democratic efforts are making people uncomfortable. Our county chairperson is making sure everyone knows we are here to stay. She is being quoted on this quite a bit in the news.
Wish I lived a little closer to you – I’d run over for a truckload for our garden. You might consider putting out a couple of wooden half whiskey barrels, fill with manure, plant tomatoes next spring and label creatively. Bet that would get some press as well. Maybe a sign right now – future plantings powered by GOP BS.
This reminds me of a comment I saw this week (Dionne?) from an anonymous pollster. He said that when he delivers bad news to conservatives they want to kill him. To Democrats and they want to kill themselves.
Also reminds me of a study I read about the behaviors and attitudes of people with certain political views. The main lesson was that the operative emotion for liberals is guilt – how do we help others. The operative emotion of conservatives is anger.
It’s what we’re up against. But here is the weird thing … if you deal 1-on-1 with a lot of the teavangelicals – no, not the angry ones on all the blogs and who do the violent shit but the other ones who believe strongly they are on the right side but don’t actually participate – you’ll find those people are as empathetic and pro-people as we are. But they’ve totally bought into their religious/political propoganda that liberals are satan and are tone deaf to anything we might say. I wonder if ever we can penetrate that wall of deception?
I wonder if ever we can penetrate that wall of deception?
It’s a pretty tough nut to crack when a person’s authority figures feed them this crazy shit at every turn. This attitude permeates all the way down to ones own family in the very red areas. They think you ARE fucking crazy. I’ve had friends, neighbors and family all look at me like I’m a zombie, or something. They might not tell you to your face. But they’ll certainly share that view among those with which they find common cause. You have to develop a tough hide.
Isn’t the fundamental nature of human beings, though? We pick significant others, raise our children, choose our jobs all based on personal preferences, while often thinking “I don’t know how that person could choose A, B, C, D” related to the above.
That’s the dead end of politics and centralized government: It Breeds resentment, hatred, anger, etc. the more people are forced, coerced, corralled by each elections’ victors into solving a particular problem via the methods of the victors’ choosing.
Green Caboose’s third paragraph above hits the nail on the head. Many of those folks are entirely rational one on one. Empathetic, pro people, etc. Most people are. What both sides do to each other, though, is dehumanize others choices of how to solve problems, and the leaders galvanize power to force the losers into their mold. No wonder their is anger, resentment, etc.
Boo and I (and a few others) talked this one silly during the 2004 election. Having deconstructed the problem, I concluded the only way to solve the problem is through Liberty and political detente where we stop using the State to force others who disagree into our mold. Both Rs and Ds right now are dangerously too arrogant with solutions to problems, as if there is only one way to solve a problem, and the state knows best and is entitled to force entire populations into those Procrustean solutions.
Politics will continue to degrade because of that, and the state will concentrate more power to ensure that when you guys here lose an election, you will step in line, and you will vote to have the state do the same when you win. Both sides are too enamored with having the mantle of power to see through the realization that what they are creating is the Ring to Rule them All.
Yikes.
You know, I’ve written about my Tea Party boss, but today we had a conversation about my possible retirement. He was very empathic and concerned about my future finances. Not B.S., I’ve worked for him for years and I know when it’s B.S.
Of course, he threw in a little pitch about how much better off I’ll be if Romney and Ryan win. Yeah, Right! But he believes it.
It’s like you said, he’s basically a decent man who looks out for his people (He’s stood up to upper management for me several times), but he has drank the Kool-Aid, full and deep.
He knows I’m a Democrat and he can see the Obama sticker on my car, but views me as misguided, which is how I see him and a couple of Conservative friends.
You? No. But I am working on it…
This is what Fascists do.
Expect more if they continue holding power in this country.

Understand that we’re basically talking about two human sub-species when we’re talking about liberals and conservatives. These two varieties probably had fairly equal value (given that they occur roughly 50/50 in the population) back in the tribal days of old. I’m guessing that one was better at maintaining day-to-day harmony, solving problems and just keeping things running smoothly, and one was better at being paranoid about the tribe next door and killing them before they killed you. Both were extremely necessary.
Now, the conservative mode of consciousness is showing it has outlived its usefulness in a really big way. But don’t get all prideful: both of them are just stages and both need to be discarded for our species to really thrive. Our species, one human at a time, will have to check both at the door as it takes its spastic, stumbling steps toward what Buddha called Nirvana, and Jesus called the Kingdom of Heaven, and Rumi called Union, and…
Maybe you get the idea? The Path is real and is a human thing. Religions are a sideshow.
someone fired a bullet into Obama headquarters in Denver today…while people were inside working. No one was hurt.
