Godfather Hit in Madrid

I think we’ve all seen this movie, although it turned out a little differently:

Leonidas Vargas, a once powerful Colombian drug trafficker, has been shot dead in his hospital bed in the Spanish capital, Madrid. Police said that a gunman entered a room on the fifth floor of the hospital and fired four shots at Vargas, who was being treated for lung disease.

He was accused of running vast cocaine laboratories in Colombia’s southern jungles during the 1980s. He served a prison term there before his arrest in Spain in 2006. Vargas was awaiting trial in connection with a 500-kg cocaine haul.

Mr. Vargas was unfortunate that he didn’t have a Michael Corleone to guard his hospital room. There’s more info in Spanish.
