Some idiot tried to throw a plate of shaving cream in the face of Rupert Murdoch while he was testifying before a committee of the UK Parliament. Murdoch’s wife leapt to his defense and I believe she actually managed to shove the pie in the face of the would-be assailant. Nicely done. It works for Murdoch on many levels. After all, people won’t be discussing the substance of this hearing.
The hearing recessed for ten minutes but has resumed. Unsurprisingly, Rupert is using the Sergeant Schultz Defense, first made popular by Ronald Reagan during the Iran-Contra Scandal.
How did someone get into parliament with that? The good news for Rupert is that he got off easier than Tom “Suck. On. This.” Friedman.
It was a smaller hearing room, but still a good question.
No idea. The security there is very strict. It’s exactly like an airport. They even take your picture and give you a paper copy to hook onto a chain around your neck.
You also cannot bring cellphones, cameras or purses.
From what I read, the “common” people in UK are disgusted by Murdock and the whole sordid NotW crew. so I wouldn’t be surprised if security somehow “missed” ole dude.
Is Ladbrokes giving odds whether the incident was staged by Murdoch or his underlings? Because I wouldn’t put it past them.
Precisely what I was thinking.
Okay, here’s a first report on who the cretin may be:

I saw nathing
.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Perhaps the thrower wanted to make sure that with this pie, Murdoch got his, ahem, just deserts.
Ba Bing!
“Unsurprisingly, Rupert is using the Sergeant Schultz Defense, first made popular by Ronald Reagan during the Iran-Contra Scandal.”
Hmmm, the “senile” old mob boss came to my mind. The only thing missing was the white robe (custom made Armani of course).
These two jet-setters had to answer a few questions about what they knew and didn’t know about prima facia and systematic criminal activity. Like all such oligarchs suddenly and unexpectedly (and thus, per their well paid legal sophistry, unfairly) thrust into momentary public accountability and responsibility, they said they didn’t really know anything about this shameful but quite profitable conduct of their subordinates or contractors (bad apples, loose canons, rogues), but that all the financial models were sound. And the oligarchs are pretty successful with that tactic.
