Fitzgerald to Convene New Grand Jury in Leak Case
Filings Suggest Additional Charges

The federal prosecutor investigating the leak of a CIA operative’s identity says he plans to present information to a new grand jury, a sign that he is considering additional charges in his two-year-old probe. [link above, WaPo].
Give me a break–you’re almost as big a Michigan fan as you are a Penn State fan, and you know I love the Lions too–but they have no shot at a National Championship anyway. So we might as well have the Wolverines represent the conference, right, Boo? ;]
Bullshit. If Texas loses the Big12 championship to some also-ran school their BCS will fall below at least Miami. And if USC loses to Fresno State? Please.
You have far to much faith in the system, my friend. If Penn State had gotten past Michigan and made it undefeated, then one of the others had stumbled, MAYBE. But probably not. Much more likey Miami, one of the vile Florida schools I can’t stomach at all.
Don’t get me wrong, I can’t hope for Penn State to beat Michigan ever, but other than that, I hope they win them all. And if they were undefeated, I’d be rooting for them this weekend anyway–but they’re not, and a good bowl with a top five finish is the best they can hope for. So they might as well roll over and give up the conference championship, don’t you think? It’s the only decent thing to do.
Penn State is ranked fourth, my friend. If they beat Michigan State they will be in a position to move up. You’re right that third is about as good as they can possibly hope for. But you never know.
Yeah, baby, right on. I was there for the 200th meeting a few years back, even though I was living 12 hours away. Beautiful, man, making those Buckeyes blue.
Damn straight, what a glorious game that was (though it was the 100th :). That was the one that Chris Perry tore up the vaunted Buckeye’s run defense (#1 in the country, I think?) right?
I seriously can’t believe that ALL of the pundits are picking OSU. I’ve even heard some of them say Michigan is going to get blown out.
You’re right, 100th. And it was beautiful. Not much better than sending OS home crying.
I haven’t been paying much attention, but all of them expect Michigan to lose? I’d like some of that action. You can’t come to the Big House and not sweat it.
I have to say, I rooted for Michigan so hard in last year’s Rose Bowl. I figure they lost just to piss me off. :^)
I rooted for PSU against Mich this year, solely because that gave the Big 10 their best shot at the BCS championship. I agree that PSU is screwed – I see no way for them to get into the top two.
Can we all agree that Notre Dame is the Bush of college football? Evil, and unfairly privileged?
Gonna be there to meet and listen to my many writer friends read from and discuss their new books. Gonna attend presentations by Maureen Dowd, Gregory Maguire, Eric Bogosian, James Shapiro, Amy Tan, Vikram Seth, Tom Reiss, Myra Goldberg, Diana Abu-Jabar, Adam Langer, Ronlyn Domingue, Susan Vreeland, Anita Shreve, Lauren Weisberger, Christopher Lehman-haupt, Hugh Nissenson, Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, and Scott Turow.
And these are just the names of those I’m planning to see. There’s many more!
Heaven comes but once a year, and that’s where you’ll find me this weekend.
Monday turn in to Hack Larry King’s show when Larry will interview Bush/Cheney WH Pimp Bob Woodward who will tell ALL about CIA leak investigation (yeah right). I am sure Fitz will be watching with baited breath and Hook. My Tivo is set, is yours?
We are going shopping for adopt-a-family holiday presents!
I’ve got one of the best tags ever! We get to find a tricycle and helmet in pink for a little girl 3+ years old! I LOVE toy shopping for the adopt-a-family program. Look out toy stores!
We buy it, our group delivers it, and the parents get to wrap it and give it! Win win for everyone….
– – –
We’ll probably pick up some books off the Borders gift book tree Saturday as well! You pick the tag, buy the book (usually at a discount), they give it to another adopt-a-family program!
Since we’re not doing gift exchange on my side of the family, the spouse and I will probably do a lot of that; I need to go toy shopping for the Santa Train coming by in a couple of weeks.
Weekend plans: getting flu shots (finally), apartment cleaning, laundry. Oh, and wine shopping for Thursday (my assignment for dinner) along with trying to finish my poncho so I can wear it for the after-dinner walk Thursday afternoon (my sister wants to show off all the new construction in her neighborhood, especially since the new construction hopefully raises their property value; they’re considering selling so they can move to something smaller closer to their grandkids…). Other than that, not much planned; the spouse is on vacation for the next 2 weeks so if we can actually get shit done, we’ll have time to go out and play. 🙂
spouse and I are getting our holiday haircuts tomorrow — well, actually just a trim for me, bangs are getting into shaggy-human territory & the spouse is getting the ducktail in back, a sign that the hair is a bit too long…
The kids are having a carnival at school tomorrow – then it’s hockey practise for the youngest asklet. Sunday morning; up 4.30am to be prepared for the hockey match at 6.00 :-<.
So it’s all pretty routine weekend stuff.
Maybe blog a bit in between.
This weekend I’m going to try out a recipe for Stuffed Cabbage from “Dining at Monticello.” The recipe was copied in his own handwriting by Thomas Jefferson as one of his favorites.
And this ain’t just stuff wrapped up in cabbage leaves either. Ya boil the whole cabbage and then gently open it up and cut out the heart of it. You chop that up with sirloin, herbs and bread crumbs and spoon it back inside the cabbage. Then you close the cabbage head into its original shape by wrapping it in cheesecloth, lower it back in the water from whince it came, and simmer it for two friggin’ hours. Ever so carefully, you unwrap this baby, smear it with butter and serve it to your astonished guests. You cut wedges at the table. Can’t wait to find out if it’s as yummy as it sounds.
Of course, Hubby will be the only person astonished this weeked. I learned long ago never to try out a difficult recipe when real company is coming; that way lies disaster.
Patrick Fitzgerald is a really busy guy. Here he’s indicted the rightwing shitbag Conrad Black of Hollinger. Black is a really nasty creature. in bed with the neocons and a propagandist extraordinaire, in additionj to being a thief.
Is getting rid of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein essential to the war against terrorism? To encourage a debate on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy, the Council on Foreign Relations organized a webcast on U.S. policy toward Iraq as part of its series, “America’s Response to Terrorism”.
The debate on U.S. policy toward Iraq between Leon Fuerth and Richard Perle was webcast on January 22, 2002. Council president Leslie Gelb moderated.
The 65-year-old windmill that operates the pumps at the reservoir for our local co-op irrigation district has died. One of the neighbors drove to Chowchilla (ouch!) to get a new windmill, and tomorrow we will all join together in a windmill-raising. Wish us luck!
What I always do… hang out at the Frog Pond…
🙂
Actually, probably doing that and playing Civ IV until my eyes go blurry…
I’m afraid I know the answer…
I’ll be flying to Kul-ee-fawn-ya tomorrow, then relaxing and playing lots of World of Warcraft. Maybe blogging, too, if I get bored. 🙂
and afraid you should be… I ran out and bought a new PC so I could play it…
The part that I love the most is that you get to found and spread religion (and for some reason, me being an athiest only makes it so much more fun…).
I knew I had a problem when at 3am I started laughing hysterically that I had founded Islam and Judaism in Berlin… 😉

Watching Big Ten Michigan teams triumph, and my team landing a New Year’s day bowl (ihopeihopeihopeihope….)

Nittany!

Fuck no. Let Texas lose and Penn State is right there baby.
You’re wrong. Penn State wouldn’t get a shot even if Texas and USC lost. Neither would Auburn, or anyone else.
Bullshit. If Texas loses the Big12 championship to some also-ran school their BCS will fall below at least Miami. And if USC loses to Fresno State? Please.

is less likely than a Kucinich presidency.
I might as well start watching college football with as much hope I have left in the Birds to make the playoffs…
That last game killed me. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Hey, me too!
UM v. OSUcks weekend officially begins for me in one hour and counting…
Yeah, baby, right on. I was there for the 200th meeting a few years back, even though I was living 12 hours away. Beautiful, man, making those Buckeyes blue.

Michigan does not get blown out at home.
Just doesn’t happen.
You’re right, 100th. And it was beautiful. Not much better than sending OS home crying.
I haven’t been paying much attention, but all of them expect Michigan to lose? I’d like some of that action. You can’t come to the Big House and not sweat it.
I haven’t heard anyone on the teevee pick Michigan. I don’t get it. Usually it’s split about 50/50. I just don’t think OSU is THAT good.
Here’s my prediction : If Mike Hart plays, and is at 100% (or close), Michigan wins. If not, Michigan loses.
Late to the thread, but let me put it this way.

Not much, considering that the car broke down this morning.
If I get bored, I might throw some burgers on the grill. I’m out of charcoal briquettes, but I still have some white phosphorus.
Oh my, that was in bad taste. 😉
Do I know how to install a windmill? Noooo.

Can you take pictures of that? It sounds like it would be pretty interesting.
Will do!
