We are finally having some hearings to investigate serious wrongdoing by the Bush administration.
Four prosecutors are testifying under oath before what appears to me to be the Senate Judicary Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts, chaired by Chuck Schumer.
They were all fired unceremoniously by Gonzales back in December. Carol Lam, from San Diego, was responsible for prosecuting Duke Cunningham and others in the Abramoff scandal. Their replacements do not need Senate approval due to a sneaky clause in the Patriot Act reenactment bill.
Leahy: not since the Saturday Night Massacre have we witnessed anything of this magnitude.
Schumer is opening with questions for Prosecutor Iglesias, who was canned from his New Mexico office.
This could be bad for Sen. Domenici.
It’s on C-Span radio, also. I’m happy that I clicked a compatible link for the televised version today, tho’. This is a tremendous opportunity to have this hearing available. Sen Schumer is giving ample time for each senator to pose their questions to the panel.
Heather is toast after this.
The Democrats had better be recording this, and cutting commercials as we speak.
She was attempting to subvert justice, and use the US Attorney system to exact political revenge.
She should be indicted.
Domenici is in trouble too.
Feingold is up.
