It’s amazingly simple to get under Bill O’Reilly’s skin. He is the least tough tough guy I have ever seen. Mike Stark has really chapped his hide. Jane Hamsher has a good write up of what went down. And then there are Dkos recommended diaries here and here.
Apparently, all you have to do is mention Keith Olbermann’s name on O’Reilly’s radio show and you will begin receiving phone calls from FOX security telling you to cease and desist from harrassing falafel boy. Never mind that Bill O’Reilly’s radio show is carried by Westwood One and not by Fox. FOX Security has nothing better to do than worry about their big star, even when he is working for someone else.
All Mike wanted was to get O’Lielly to drop his petition against Olbermann. Now he went and got himself a war (and server problems).
Check our Jesus General’s take on it. Very Reno 911.
I’ve been reading about that and honestly have had a hard time believing it’s real. It’s got to be something cooked up between O’Reilly and Olbermann to improve ratings, right? Apparently though, O’Reilly is that immature.
Does anyone know what in their history makes these men hate each other so much? It’s comical really, but there’s obviously something there.
I don’t know if it is personal, but Olbermann has been calling O’Reilly out for a long time, and he went nuts when the Falafel thing went down and launched a campaign to get the tapes.
Something happened between them pre-falafel. I thought I remembered Olbermann saying they used to work together. Maybe I’m crazy.
Pre-falafel? Ah, those were the days…
My understanding of Olbermann’s antipathy to O’Reilly seems much like ours here..he just can’t stand the guy on general principals. At least that is what he told Leno one time who asked about this supposed feud between them. He said there wasn’t any feud he just didn’t like the guy.
For someone who doesn’t have (or want) cable, what is “falafel?”
Apparently there is a significant reference I am missing, and my kid hasn’t clued me in. What am I missing?
This link might help a little but it’s a complicated history.
I’m wondering what would happen if someone mentioned Olbermann and Franken in the same call. Maybe O’Reilly would spontaneously combust? Does he take call on the television show, or just on radio?
In the diary BooMan posted from about a week ago, I thought Mike Stark got steamrollered by Rush Limbaugh and looked pretty ridiculous. But he darn sure hit a home run on this one.
Last night my wife and I saw Olbermann, thank goodness. It was insane, he had about FIVE teases before the final main event at the end of the show, the incredible story about O’Reilly. It was worth it. I was laughing my ass off for several hours.
So thanks to Mike Stark, even if he can be a witless imbecile at times.
