Just a quick update: I called in, but the person who is supposed to give me the full update was still out re-supplying them (the group was late getting to the resupply point to meet him).
The guy I talked to did say they’ve never had this long a run of winter weather doing this, and that they had 10 inches of snow on the ground at one point; they did get 2 sunny days in there somewhere and dried out a bit before the next batch of icky weather. Apparently they’re somewhere on the Dodson Trail near the Juniper Canyon.
More when I actually get to talk to the right person.
It is enormously difficult the first few times your children are out of your reach and you can’t even really imagine where they are or what they’re doing.
From before birth you track every flutter of movement, every breath, everything that they eat or drink, their toilet habits, each little item of clothing. Letting go happens in small doses over the years as they go to school, choose their own friends and shop for clothes, develop a life outside of your reach. It’s hard. 🙂
Send it when things are calmer and don’t worry friend. Little dude was so bday spoiled he’s going to be missing some spoiling in awhile and your gift will arrive right on God’s schedule. I have noticed you have been busy of late, take care of you and don’t worry…..I’m spoiling the booger rotten. Will never forget when we stopped at your house and he was being a goose that one time and I was arguing with him about it, then you agreed with him fully and he became normal again. It was amazing, and I was so little dude fatigued I had forgotten that that one was in the arsenal darn it.
about how different regional food preferences develop to coincide with what people’s bodies need. Because I have SAD I’m used to monitoring myself all winter as to how well I’m sleeping and eating properly. In Colorado Springs and Wyoming during this time of year we start the day with pancakes, lots of eggs with lots of meats….breakfast is very dense and carb loaded and my family likes spicy so we eat lots of Huevos Rancheros this time of year with a side of pancakes and my father usually adds a steak to that. With these cool overcast short days this week, it isn’t just me who has been cranky in the family. The whole family has a general crankiness that has settled over all of us and was very obvious last night among all four of us. Now I’m having gumbo for breakfast. I had never touched gumbo before moving here and I didn’t like the few gumbos we have tried at a couple of restaurants here but we like Zatarrans. I woke up this morning and the first thing I wanted was Zatarrans Gumbo for breakfast, spicy…not anywhere near all the calories I would eat for breakfast in snowy Colorado but just a touch of rice with spicy sausage. It’s weird but it is what my body wants and I guess has the calorie total it needs this morning.
I believe you’re right on the weather and eating. Also the regional part too. My Grandparents used to start the day with a big breakfast, but they needed the calories for working on the farm. I’ve moved around so much that I’ve seen different regions eating different things and in different amounts. It’s a mystery. 🙂
BTW I was up at Children’s Hospital in B’ham visiting my niece the other day. I had an appointment and parked my car at the building I had to go to. I had to walk the four block to see her. I had forgotten how long a city block is. Damn that was a far walk. :~)
Good morning all! Please stay away from the nasty viruses as best you can-it’s a long ways until spring!
Finally made it to the weekly poetry open mic after trying for six weeks; something was always happening: snow, holidays, illness. Met some cool people and got invited to a poetry brunch this weekend.
Possibly the key to blues-free morning is massive doses of caffeine.
Mornin’ Andi. I can’t believe it’s already 7:00.
to adjust to the time difference but I woke up at the regular time. Shockingly, I decided to go back to sleep and I did for almost another hour.
I was up from about 3 to 5 this morning, but managed to fall back to sleep till seven.
I hope this cough thing starts going away today.
I’ll be gone for the day before you get to talk to CBtE but I hope you’ll satisfy my nosiness and leave a comment in the cafe saying how he’s doing.

At least you know he’s OK and that’s the big thing.
Yeah, but no real details other than that the weather has been super-challenging. I want details, dammit! 🙂
Guess I’ll just have to wait.
Yep, ain’t it great being a parent. 🙂

I have to confess that I have been enjoying the lack of arguing with him. But I’m looking forward to seeing him next weekend.
I hope the more complete info contained the news that he’s having a good time.
I still don’t have the more complete info. :::sniff:::
Calling every 10 minutes might get some wheels to moving. 🙂
That is so not my style. Until tomorrow morning, anyway…
I know you have in it to be a truly pushy broad. 🙂
(sorry you haven’t found out any more)
Good morning Andi and!
We installed DSL at curly’s last night. Yeay.
How did that happen?
…Andi and CG!
it outpaced your keystrokes. 😉
Morning ask.
I may have to move in until my laptop is fixed/replaced.
how romantic. 😉
Isn’t it!
Woo-hoo! The wonders of faster youtube are yours!
Yup, that’s something that has been avoided from here previously.
Morning Everyone.
I think getting soaked in cold rain on Sunday has given me a cold. I’m completely stopped up and feel really blah today.
CG I hope you start feeling better.
Feel better. Drink some Bailey’s in hot coffee. Works for me!
Got coffee, but no Bailey’s. 🙁
I’ll just have to get by.
Did your daughter’s rhinoplasty go well?
Went well but insurance isn’t wanting to pay for any of it.
I keep forgetting to mail little dude a book I got him for his b-day. Things are insane here at the house.

Give me a minute and the beer will be flowing. 🙂

Morning Soup.
The poetry brunch sounds cool and the massive doses of caffeine never hurt either.
