Our Thing

You know, I was just over reading John Kerry’s latest diary at the orange place (unfortunately, not yet available in green) and it struck me that we (us blog communities) are doing something extraordinary and unprecedented. John Kerry came very, very close to being the President of the United States and he (rather than Bush) could very well have been in India and Afghanistan today representing our nation, or in the Oval Office dealing with the most urgent business of the day.

But, he’s not. He’s over at Kos’s pad talking strategy for the upcoming election. It’s a humbling thing to think someone like John Kerry would think it is a productive use of his time to converse with Kossacks and lay out his thinking on issues. We shouldn’t take what we have accomplished for granted or shortchange ourselves about what we can do in the future.

I’d also like to give a shout out to one of BooTrib’s newest members, Paul Hackett. I like a man who keeps his word.
