now the Supreme Court can spread voter disenfranchisement across the country in the next election by making bad law in a 5-4 decision.
I thought it was illegal to use your Social Security Number to match a person for voting list. Otherwise you SSN is now your defacto National ID Card.
In the meantime, let’s not forget that there are contingencies in place, should folks get uppity. Quoting Naomi Klein’s piece here.

Looks like the Powers That Be have the bases covered, in case the public-at-large remains convinced that the US system is actually democratic.

GOP are not interested in winning this election. They are running away from owning up to this financial mess…are looking for company, excuses to claim and or taint the Dem win as illegitimate as their two wins were..
well, stolen.
As Obama was warning supporters today not to get too cocky, it’s painfully clear even to the right that the margins Obama will run up are going to be too large to overcome through even the most blatant intimidation and suppression tactics. The only real hope for them to win is to play the Diebold card.
But I think that the GOP will now spend the next four years dehumanizing and delegitimizing Barack Obama through the power of hate.
He’s going to need superhuman Secret Service protection. His life will be in danger constantly from these types.
How long will it take before we here Rush or Savage or Hannity opine “Who will rid me of this troublesome uppity Negro President who stole the election?”
How long will it take before somebody actually attempts to follow up on that facing a recession if not a full blown depression?
