I may be full of myself, but my sucks-to-awesome ratio is so far below Andrew Sullivan’s that I ought to be able to do this and retire tomorrow.

I wish you could find a way to make it work. I’m totally on board with the the subscription model.
I’d pay more than 19.99/yr to hang around here. Just when do you project hitting that six figure mark, anyway? 😉
Agreed. But sucks seems to sell pretty well in amurca.
Hell, I’m in. Where do I send my money?
.
“There is no heavier burden than a great potential”
I’m all for six figure revenue … if it works out for you?
Okay – whatever, Booman. But I’m gone as soon as you start whining about your tax burden.
I hope that membership will include a complimentary fruit basket.
Um, isn’t Sullivan’s sucks:awesome ratio undefined?
.
I see what you did there.
Agreed that Sullivan’s often just unreadable, no more so that during his incessant deficit whining or cluelessness about anything to do with race or gender. But what he’s got going for him is that unlike every other name political pundit on the Internets, he (with the help of his minions and readers) posts about whatever interests him, not just politics. This not only gives him more of a personality and personal relationship with his readers, but it gives him an appeal beyond political junkies. A lot of his readers like him because of the intellectual curiosity and broad range of interests, and can take or leave his politics.
He is also, of course, a relentless schmoozer of the Georgetown variety, and that more than anything gets him his big income and endless parade of high-profile platforms. He is the Village equivalent of a made man, with employment for life if he wants it. Genuinely left-leaning pundits (meaning not Richard Cohen, Maureen Dowd, etc.) generally aren’t invited to that club. But Sullivan does have a lot of readers and fans, and if that’s the goal, more pundits on the left could learn from his mix of a broad range of topics, not just DC wankery.
He’s far more entertaining than Booman and his non-political links are fascinating, but he’s not getting any money from me.
