Who wants ice cream?
Oh, I can’t really — not after last night. I had a lousy day and no one home to cook for so I had Fritos, Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream and a Manhattan for dinner.
I have a feeling I know what my dinner plans for tonight will be. 🙂
Yeah, that honestly doesn’t sound that bad!
Oh, it was bad. It was yummy, but it was bad.
I decided to forgo making lunch today and went to a local bakery that serves lunches. They give you enough in one take out for two meals. I went with the purely southern today. Fried catfish, hush puppies, baked beans and coleslaw. Of course I asked for the healthy heart take out.
I think they’ve banned that kinda stuff up here FM. I can hear your arteries snapping shut from here…:{)
Back in operation this AM after a strange black-out last night. Cold and breezy today; 1/2″ snow and low 30’s when we woke up, more freezing tonight – ahhh, springtime in the Foothills…
Hi dada. It’s not very often I do that, but I’ve been cleaning the house today and didn’t want to mess up what I’ve already cleaned. I know doesn’t make sense, but I figure let it look good for a while longer.
Springtime in the foothills. I know you’re tired of it, but I would love to be up there for awhile. Ahh snow.
In reality, the climate is pretty benign, but you do need to like winter…and we do have snakes, the worst being rattlers, as well as other large predators…:{)
Is there nowhere I can get away from those things?
Well at least we don’t have the big predators here.
Coral snakes and sharks, oh no.
Antarctica. Now there’s a place that sounds interesting.
Hi dada! Snow – yikes …
Yeah, it was weird…the lights suddenly got reallllly bright, then “POOF”…glad I was running on battery power-it was a big surge. It was raining at the time, but no lightning, mystery to me.
Nothing to do but go to bed.
You know I wouldn’t leave without saying goodnight…:{)
Peace
They’re saying that Hasek was dressed and in the nets for the pre-game practice this morning in Buffalo. The city’s buzzing about a possible return … ?
The Globe says “not tonight…”
Mind games…Sen’s better do something tonight…<fingers crossed>
It’s not likely, but what got everyone excited was Murray came out and said he wouldn’t let him practice w/ the team unless he was ready to come back … and this was the first time since that edict that he’s been on the ice. Thx for the x-fingers.
What? I thought up there ya’ll have at least 10 feet of snow on the ground. I mean gosh, ya’ll still have people skating ice. 😉
you don’t need snow for ice skating, you need … ice. 🙂 We just dismantle our igloos this time of year since it’s warm enough to sleep outside, and then we use that ice for the rinks … 😛
yellow ice.
good thing I continued reading on down the thread… for a while there I was concerned ol’ dada had had a “strange black-out” of consciousness… which, of course, would have been a serious concern… so good that it was only the electogremlins at work.
sorta what I was thinking, but didn’t dare bring it up.
Blasphemy, I say…for shame.
Yum.
That looks sooooo good! Well, minus the banana … and add a bit more chocolate please! How ya been?
Hey, Olivia!! Coming right up! I don’t like the bananas either, actually. Why sully perfectly good ice cream with something nutritious?
I’ve been okay — you?
… what better way to help it go down then w/ ice cream … 🙂
Doing okey-dokey here.
Got to go again. We’ve got more thunder and lighting coming through.
Save some ice cream for me.
Well, that what they used to say, but now it’s looks like we get April-like showers in May. But better to have some rain than none, as April we hardly had any.
Been overcast and raining since early morning, no thunder, no lightning, just drizzle like we used to get in the spring.
Rain Fog/Mist 47°F (8°C) Wind Speed: NW 20 G 26 MPH
So installation of the posts for the deck railing will have to wait another day.
Afternoon greetings FBC dwellers!!
Thx for the T conversion … 😛
twas no effort however, as it reads that way on the wx site I go to.
has mysteriously assembled here in the afternoon! Olivia, be afraid, be very afraid! Or confused, or perplexed… you get the choice of adjective.
Hey there dada, NDD, and of course Izzy and the rest of the gang. I’m sneakin a quick break here again.
LOL! It must be the ice cream that draws us out.
Not so sure if it’s the ice cream Izzy… if that were the case I’d be in the next county. Never touch the stuff, well almost never… maybe once a year when we take the dogs to get their puppy cones.
Maybe it’s one of those infrequent harmonica convergences I’ve tell of….
Okay, I’ll go with the obvious explanation then — it’s a warp in the space/time continuum.
That works for me! I feel like I’ve been shot through one of those things today, lol.
Now, that’s blasphemous! 😉 Hey fellow cube-dweller.
Very rarely, if at all. Remember, I’ve ceded you all the virtual cheesecake too… but I won’t be as generous with the chocolate though. hehe
24 hr clocks off by 12, what next?

Mo bettah now
Peace
What are you talking about? That looks normal to me dada. I think it had something to do with the old days of cow chip tossing.
I have to write up a story on the proper picking of cow chips to tossing. They have to be dried enough and firm enough, but the shape is all important. 🙂
Hey, looks perfectly normal to me too.
Must be an indication of what condition my condition is in…
Are you talking your First Edition, pre the Gambler. 🙂
here
That’s the re-set mode…:{)
I might have some photos… Got to see BOHICA from VFP (DailyKos) and the Friday Rally peeps. Me and the two other CP ladies sat in the front. DFA read their petition. A young girl of at maybe 12 read a petition to all the council member asking where was the funding for her school and teachers. Quite moving and inspiring to see.
I had a Stop the next war now CP t-shirt. A BIG man in a beige summer suit confronted me as I was walking by myself from the train into Portland and said “fucking cunt, go to Iraq… inaudible” Lovely huh?
But I walked into City Hall.. .and saw lots of friendly faces. A man said he loved my t-shirt. I saw the VFP guys had left their leaflets about the Peace Memorial we’ll be working on and dedicating.
What do I do?? I plonk myself right down in front. 🙂 “M” and “L” from CodePink arrived and the meeting started. Was cool! 🙂
I met on of the 19 who had been arrested during the last sat in at Wydens
Good day. Grabbed a burger and a java drink from Oleg and all is well. Oh!!! My coffee dude, Oleg, drove by me new home and said he really liked it. 🙂 He lives in that neighborhood. I did NOT Plan that 🙂
and I’m following your every move… not quite as closedly as NSA probably… but appreciate seeing your reports here.
No security check at City Hall… was wicked cool!!! I just walked right in. I had nothing in my purse (normally I don’t carry one but it’s easier for them to go through my purse rather than check my pockets.
Linda, Marianne and Me outside City Hall Chambers
Pssst no I didn’t gain weight overnight. That shirt is one size too small on me so I look a little stuffed. LOL
Heeeey Janet. How’d it go?
It go good 🙂
How are you?
I’m doing fine except for NDD’s picture below.
BTW I think you look great in pink.
which everyone considers harmless.

photo above compliments of here
Dem thar’s sum reel kute kritters yust got dere, Sven.
How ya durrin?
I’m back and thank you NDD. Just what I need about a bad thunderstorm.
It was pretty bad here for awhile. The weather channel is saying a tornado touched down about 17 miles away from us and they were estimating some straight line winds of 95 mph. We missed just about all of that. Only a few small limbs down. It appears that in another couple of hours we’ll have another bad thunderstorm come through.
All I know is I’m safely inside the house and the snakes are out at the pond. At least I hope. 😛
Arrgh, matey! Batten down those hatches, FM… with a forecast like that, it sounds like you and George are in it for the duration. At least it gets you off the yard work hook! Hope you don’t have anything too violent come through your way.
Thanks IVG. I’ve only been scared here once. That was a couple of years ago when roof tiles were coming off.
We really need to take out some of these pine trees around the house. But I figure when I see them bend at about a 10 or 15 degrees it’s time to take cover.
We’re stil under tornado watch, but I think everything has gone by now.
Good to hear that, FM. Well time for me to head back out and pretend to get some more work done. Hope to see you all later, but it may be an early night for me. You never know.
That bottom one looks mean …
Olivia every snake look mean. Don’t let em fool you. IMHO there’s no such thing as a cuddly snake, unless you count the constrictors, and that’s too cuddly.
Nope, just wanting him to feel safe should he ever visit ND. Long as one is east of the Missouri river, there’s no rattlers.
ND is starting to sound better.
and I was thinking I’d put lutefisk stuffed chittlins on the menu. My cousin (a real wingnut, ret. AF)a 1/2 mile down the road married a gal from NC, so she’d get a kick out of that… probably.
LOL I know I would. I just went and googled stuffed chitlins. This is what came up at the top of the list.
Booman Tribune ~ Mid-Day Brunch Closed ~ Happy Hour Opened
We’ll have lutefisk stuffed chitlins and pickeled pigs feet on the side and who could resist. Mundane Doesn’t Describe It …
The word is spreading. 🙂
lutefisk stuffed chitlins past the in-house censorship board, “eewww that’s almost too yucky!” I may have to let that idea “settle in” a bit.
Just tell them it’s like the guy who invented pizza. That you are inventing a new delectable food item that will spread thought the world.
Ah yes, franchises of the Golden Intestines throughout the world.
Look what I found in today’s tiptoe through the blogswamp:

I thought you’d be interested.
Heyyyyyy OMIR – I’ll look at that in a tick. school just called and I have to run some homeo stuff over for his allergies. Fire drill and they stood out on the lawn and he’s just miserable from allergies…
I had to tell them – I gotta go find some cash for gas cause i’m on fumes.
Be back in a bit. XOXO
No prob. It must be the day for fire drills. They were testing our safety system today. At least I assume they were just testing. The first responders never showed up, and the place didn’t explode.
It’s windy and absolutely pouring here and the dogwoods blossoms which were in their last days anyway are dropping by like flies (why do my flies never drop but just keep flying except for the ones that do drop but don’t die and keep buzzing as they spin in circles?).
Sorry about your blossoms Andi.
I’ll have to give some thought on the fly thing.
Maybe you’ll dream the answer when you take your next nap.
I’ve been afraid to take a nap after NDD’s picture.
It won’t be long before the lilacs start to drop, the rhododendrons shed their blossoms and the dogwood (and some of the other trees around here) start dropping blossoms. The cherry trees around Green Lake must have shed their blossoms already, because they’re not on the trees anymore, but I sure don’t see any on the ground when I go by on the bus.
it always seems a shame that it comes to an end. You have, though, a lot more blossoms to miss than I do.
this one’s a pain…somehow got behind the screen…annoying

you could the rest of them to not buzz like this one, it wouldn’t be nearly as bad.
Well, I guess we just chock that up to the transitory nature of spring… I’ve been lamenting the increasing nakedness of those once glorious tulips in our garden (yeah, just 2-3 weeks ago??)… after several hard rains, a bunch of wind…their petals have been sent packing for the most part.
The good thing about these passages, the way I see it, is that we’re more on the alert to see what’s coming up next.. for instance, tulips being replaced by Wood Hyacinths and Alliums, to be replaced by… repeat process as necessary throughout the summer.
Yeah, you’d think that after 27 years, I’d be used to it but I always feel a little sad to see them go — and of course here in our woods I don’t have the progression of flowering plants that you do.
Question Andi… do you have morels out your way? If so, have they popped yet this year? I heard yesterday that they’re coming up around here now, and I can’t wait to get some, even if I do have to pay upwards of $20/lb for them! OMG they’re tasty…
Speaking of things woodlandish… did I tell you last week that we found some red Trilliums at a garden center? We’re very excited to get them going in our woodland corners of the garden and can’t wait to see them next year.
out our way but not on our place (we’ve found a grand total of 6 in that 27 years). Our county is so-so but there are other counties nearby that are loaded with them. Anyway, they should be up by now since they generally appear about the same time as the may apples.
My favorite way — rolled in cornmeal and sauteed in butter.
You did mention the red trilliums. I hope they do well.
What a sweet poem, AndiF. I love it!
it’s completely unintentional — but it is a reasonable visit to the workings of my brain.
I think that’s the way the best poetry comes out.
Hey there MM… how was slacking today? Weren’t you promising flower pics for this evening sometime? And what did you think of that Jason Jones piece on Jon Stewart last night? I was ribbing Olivia earlier today about being an “Iceback.” That cracked me up.
I don’t remember the Jason Jones thing, I must have gotten distracted catching up on my reading in the FBL. LOL.
Yup pics are in the pipeline!
Not much of a slacker day. Decided to go to a job interview for Director of Development at the Geffen Playhouse, just out of curiosity. Had lunch with a friend, and did some work on a consulting project.
Still, only 3:30 and well into Happy Hour. You Froggies have some catching up to do.
How are things going with the yard clearing. Is this something that could feed into bu$h’s mesquite powered cars? LOL
Well as an English major, former poetry writer, and former occasional teacher of literature and creative writing, I have to disagree. That might be the way an idea comes out but I believe the best poetry is tightly constructed, each word getting careful consideration and each line thoughtfully built. /philosophy
Granted, but I’ll wager I can find tight constructions and careful consideration in the way you expressed your thought, wanna bet me?
That would be denying my own brilliance. 😉
I’ve got to finish up the house. I’ve played to long.
See everybody later.
The young girl who stood up and spoke to the City Council Members about the lack of school funding during the impeachment proposal.
She was amazing and the best voice there.
sorry! (ducks from flying vegetation)
a few more of those real heros down the trail a bit.
Keep your eyes on Patrick Fitzgerald’s website tonight and tomorrow. Last time, he posted a notice there about a press conference the day before Fitzmas.
Thanks for the heads up, BooMan! That’s a tantalizing tip off you just gave there … keeping all appendages and eyes crossed in an-ti-ci-pation!
The Happy Hour Lounge is now open.
