Tired of this campaign.
Tired of gas prices that are insane.
Tired of the wars.
Tired of the bores
who shout on my TV
in tones that are too angry.
Okay, enough with the poetry. I really am tired. Tired of all the crap, the nasty attack ads I’m seeing in the congressional races (fortunately, NY not being a battleground state, I miss out on the Presidential attack ads), the stupidity of our pundit class (with rare exceptions like Rachel Maddow) and I’m even getting tired of Tina Fey’s impression of Sarah Palin (as Tina is, no doubt, as well).
I’m tired of the crap Bush continues to pull (like ordering the DOJ to investigate voter fraud in Ohio after the US Supreme Court already ruled on the issue). I’m tired of Palin/McCain supporters shouting inane insults at Obama and his supporters with such stunning ignorance of history and such vile contempt in their voices. I’m tired of the bitter divide within this country which the right has fostered since at least the days of Joe McCarthy. I’m tired of FOX Noise lies, and crazy wingnut bloggers. I’m tired of the their fake outrage when Obama goes to see his sick grandmother. I’m tired of the crazy conspiracy theories about Muslims, Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright. I’m tired of voter suppression by Republicans, voting machines that still don’t let you vote for the Democrat, and, in general, this entire election season.
It’s a time when we expose the worst of our society to the world 24/7. The times are too serious for the same old politics, but that seems to be all we get, as if Americans were stuck in a time warp still fighting over civil rights for minorities, nativism, thinly veiled white supremacy, the New Deal, the threat of International Communism, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. A time when everyone is angry or afraid or merely stupid and more than willing to spout off about it to any passing video camera.
God let it be over. Let McCain go off to skulk in some barren corner of Arizona. Let Lieberman become inconsequential. Let Palin’s face never again grace the Nightly News. Let conservatives turn on each other rather than turning their bizarre hatreds outward against the rest of us. And let Obama win. He isn’t perfect but the alternative is too painful to contemplate.
Please. Just let it end. The real world needs our attention. ASAP.
Ditto.
Nine more days to go…seems like an eternity.
I’m with you both.
I’m more worried about what’ll happen on November 5th.
The GOP will not go gentle into that good night.
Word.
unfortunately, the forces of ignorance, hate and greed never get tired, do they? after nov. 5th, they’ll be just getting their second wind. it’s okay to be sick and tired, but let’s not be surprised.
I was looking forward to after the election several weeks ago thinking all the insanity of any election would die down. Now given the way Palin/McCain have stirred things up and brought much of this racial hostility to the front I’m thinking that after the election is going to be just as ugly-especially if Obama does win.
I suspect that if Obama wins while that will make me happy I’ll be spending the next 4 years also with a nagging foreboding in the back of my mind and wish it wasn’t so.
Yeah, this election is enough to make even the most hopeless political junkie go straight. We need to find a way to radically shorten campaign seasons like they do in other countries.
It won’t end after 11/4- it’ll just mutate. The anti-Clinton craziness of the ’90s will look like child’s play.
You mean gas prices are still too low to reflect the real cost?
