I knew that Mike Huckabee had decided to be the biggest advocate for child molestation in the country, but I had no idea that his support for fondling children ran this deep.
John Perry, a prolific author who co-wrote two books with former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and co-wrote one with Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore, was accused of child molestation in two separate lawsuits, BuzzFeed News has found.
A 2012 police investigation of Perry’s alleged offenses found that “the allegations of sexual battery were sustained” but that the statute of limitations had expired.
Ah, yes, “the statute of limitations had expired.” This is the new “no controlling legal authority” defense made famous by Al Gore during the brouhaha over his violations (of the letter if not the spirit) of the Pendleton Act by illegally raising campaign cash on White House telephones.
As I recall, people on the right weren’t too impressed with Gore’s highly technical defense. But how many of these same folks will care that Huckabee has twice used a child molester as the co-author of his books?
Yes, yes, this could happen to anyone. I know.
But “anyone” isn’t running around the country arguing that Josh Duggar is innocent of molesting his sisters because he was never formally convicted of the crime.
The man confessed.
I know the temptation is there to argue that this all just a natural result of the sexual repression inherent in Huckabee’s evangelical brand of Christianity. I disagree.
I’m not going to slime millions of people with being advocates for child molestation. Put blame where it belongs, and only where it belongs. Mike Huckabee pals around with sexual predators who harm children. And then he defends them in his free time.
