Midweek Cafe and Lounge, Vol. 97

Welcome back, music lovers. It has been a while, hasn’t it? Instead of life slowing down, it only got more complicated. But you know, as the saying goes, “I get knocked down, but I get up again…”

Wait.

That reminds me of a song, from probably the one band I loved in the 1980s I never imagined with a top 40 pop hit in the late 1990s:

Here’s one from around 1993.

That one did well on the UK charts. I remember Chumbawamba more for their LPs from the 1980s when there was still a recognizable anarchopunk scene, and they usually got lumped in with other anarchopunk bands. By the time they landed these hits, they had honed their craft a great deal – and still as uncompromising.

Last November was a good one for us, after being knocked down repeatedly for much of the decade. I hope those of us time bombs use our explosive energy for more good in the coming years ahead. We’ll need it.
