Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.745

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Grand Canyon painting. The photo that I’m using (My own from a recent visit just a few weeks ago.) is seen directly below. I stood a this particular viewpoint and thought about how I would paint this scene, cropping the much wider original to the photo you see here.

I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6×6 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appears as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

Only the foreground butte remained unfinished in last week’s cycle. I’ve now completed it. With that the painting is finished. I am pleased with it. I have attempted many Grand Canyon paintings but this is one of the better ones.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I’ll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.

  1. I used to read The Hill everyday and for the most part I considered it a reliable source of news. I always detected a bit of a Republican lean to the paper, but it was barely perceptible and was actually useful for understanding the thinking of congressional leaders. I almost never go to their website anymore, partly because it is filled with pop-up ads and takes forever to load. But another reason is that they’ve lurched far to the right in the Trump Era. They continue to publish John Solomon’s misinformation about the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, which is basically criminal from a journalistic standpoint. Recently, they’ve added Alan Dershowitz, which I consider felonious.

From my June 9th piece: The Breitbartization of The Hill

    1. The Hill was one of those somewhat occasional reads for me until relatively recently. I find the site practically useless now. Worse than useless. They’ve been binned with the likes of Breitbart as far as I am concerned. That means naturally that Facebook will promote the hell out of it.
