Me?
I’m hoping we get lots of photographs for the Froggy Bottom Photography Fair this weekend.
Did you see my comment in the FBC? I’m wondering where the day stacked up stats-wise. The livejournal peeps came in big numbers.
The bill has been dropped.
Thanks ME – for linking back to the diary.
BostonJoe posted a new comment yesterday with link to the good news.
“More complex” my ass – keep them on the defensive. We have a lot to cheer for the last few days on many fronts.
good to see you back with internet access. Did you see that the diary attracted a firecracker? I wonder if he will take up DTF’s offer. 😀
Didn’t – but have now.
Notice that he (?) has posted several comments already just now – some of which we may want hidden..
Have actually been able to read during most of my trip, though slow connection so not much posting. Early here now, so better speed.
Heading out for meetings all day now – flying out this pm via Dubai and back in NY tomorrow pm.
Good to talk to you – must be midnight or so for you – here it’s just after 9 am.
he learned how to rate comments…
Well, as long as he doesn’t multiply, we’ll be fine.
Not a very intelligent response on the end of that link. Reeks of “freeper”.
Some people seem to think that just because it isn’t happening in their hometown that it shouldn’t matter to everyone else.
I am glad the bill was dropped. Only a fool would make light of an issue like that.
Some people seem to think that just because it isn’t happening in their hometown that it shouldn’t matter to everyone else.
Agree w/ this Connecticut Man. Add country to that too, please!
My reasoning to pay attention to bills in other states:
Just say, hypothetically, that the bill had passed in Indiana.
What happens next?
It gets challenged, and likely ends up in the Circuit courts after appeals. If they support it than every state under that courts jurisdiction is now subject to that law.
And if It makes it all the way to the SCOTUS?
Then the entire USA would be subject to any that decision.
Keep in mind that almost all of the Circuit courts are now stacked in the conservatives favor, and now the SCOTUS is about to be skewered FARRR RIGHT!
BAM! Every red state adopts a similar law knowing that it will stand usnder the SCOTUS’ scrutiny.
This is the right wing agenda that Firecracker fails to address. You have to look at the big picture.
When Indidana comes up with a bill that is a wet dream for the radical right it worries the fuck out of me, and it should worry everyone, because it could come back and bite us on the ass in our homestate.
“more complex” is code for “holy shit – look at all of the angry e-mails and phone calls we got!”.
I haven’t read this diary, but I assume it’s about Indiana.
I’m a college professor who works at Indiana University. I am also gay. Last year, I did a lot of perusing of bills that were introduced in both the Indiana house and senate. It was quite an education for a fine arts professor like me. There were bills prohibiting gay people from adopting children. There were bills removing insurance benefits for DPs at the state’s universities — all kinds of right wing stuff.
My point is that they do this every year, that they have become more brazen, and that you will likely see similar bills in every red state in the country.
It’s scary, and my fear is that one of these bills will manage to slip by.
The best argument for being informed / staying informed. If nobody noticed and nobody raised a stink, then they might very well have passed this. Then what would be next?
Thank goodness there are a few good legislators in Indiana that mange to help us dodge these bullets — Vi Simpson from Bloomington is one. Simpson often feels like she is all alone. We need to pay attention to the folks fighting for us in the trenches of state government.

Just woke up …

Obviously, everybody heard it was catnip day here. lol!
what time zone are you on? Are you here with us PST people?
I’m in my own little time zone most of the time. 🙂
I’m an hour ahead of you PSSSST people. But…we’re falling back to standard time sometime this month…I get so confused when that happens…
Great…at least there will be someone around late other than me. When I come here a little late I sometimes feel like it is closed for the night..Now I will have Catnip around. So awesome that you were promoted..Kudos to you and the Booman. With you and Susan..his taste is the best.
about “all the President’s women” — maybe we need an “all the BooMan’s women” diary… 😉
What’s on my mind? Well, by about now, mainly bed…and wondering what the morning will bring…
I don’t know about that. Did you see those blue polka dot shorts of his? 😉
Good thing the dots were blue instead of pink… we don’t want no “commie” influence ’round here.
You write a lot of great diaries… I would say good for you, concerning this news, but really it is good for the entire community.
I was kidding. If you look at the site stats, all of this extra traffic is a direct result of Ductape’s latest diary. What a coup! It’ll be interesting to see how many new people sign up here now. This is great news for the community.
Nip, you are basically right. Probably close to 90 sites linked to Ductape’s diary. But we also had several large sites link to Pat Lang’s article on Bill O’Reilly and Raw Story has linked to Larry Johnson’s and Susan’s.
So, we had a lot of content shared around the web yesterday.
I need a link to Ductapes diary. Where is it?
Here you go.
Thanks for the link…I had read that..unbelievable. Wasn’t sure if it was that or the “They passed the babies forward” diary.
I’ll take being “basically” right. 🙂
Johnson and Lang are great. Their level of knowledge is incredible.
Yup…Catnip day and the news that Rove could be “Frog Marched” could have just a little something to do with it. Boo needs to get those 2 ladies over at CNN that do reports on Blogs info about the Booman Trib before the indictments come down..If we hit the Jackpot with Rove being Frogmarched and the press knows about this place before hand…the numbers will go through the roof for Booman which means hits, which means Money…The key is getting the word out now before the indictments cause once they come…the press will be NUTS.
does Joe Wilson know that he is the inspiration for the frog, Boo?
We need an exclusive interview with Joe Wilson for when these indictments break. Someone above my pay grade (which is 0 bucks and rubber-like cheesecake) needs to set that up!
I wonder if I can at least wrangle a free t-shirt out of the boss.
and Valerie has reportedly been amused to learn that Susan named a raccoon after her.
the highest honor of all. lol
So get a press release or something over to those gals over at CNN..with the Rove/Indictments ready to come in, even if it isn’t Rove…Frog marching is gonna be all the Rage..Just for Fun and the great Left Dem twist/info you got here. Hell The front pagers are awesome and you are practically breaking stories.not to mention Boomans sister blog the Euro Trib..If they knew about your site..I would bet they would cover it. Doesn’t hurt to spread the word to some of the MSM..I think Ronnie Reagan Jr. Does blogging reports also on MSNBC. Even if you drop the hint now and make them aware..perhaps when the news breaks they will include you in there daily Blog wrap ups, how can anyone lose with this logo and history of the Blog. It is so Plame/Wilson/Rove. I say go for it. Email or someone calling them…I think one of the names is Jackie Shectner (the spelling is a nightmare here) or maybe we should all mass email them…just a thought.

Bushy is giving a speech at 10 am ET…oooo…a big, important speech…about terra…and Iraq…and evil…and “progress”…yawn..
I thought this tagline from CNN was hilarious:
Democrats say they want to hear more than ‘stay the course’
before 8am Pacific twice in one week…the spouse and I are heading out early for errands anyway…
Yes, I was listening to Scotty at the press conference today, outlining the speech, sounded like it would be verrrrrry different…like there is terror and it’s harrrrd work, fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them here, and other such things no one has ever heard before.
BTW about the troll, can’t we keep him around for a bit, to play with.
Comment was meant to be under Catnips re. pres. speech., hit the wrong button.

Very likely enjoys scaring people, new WMD is the bio attack from Yellow Asians – H5N1 Avian flu.
Beware, DoD Donald Rumsfeld will get the authority and lead in fighting terra within our own borders. The multi-billion space shield will be restyled by Media Center to combat incoming wild ducks, geese and all environmentally threatening winged cousins spreading disease and targeting U.S. cities.
Lack of Armed Forces to operate within our borders will force Gen. Casey – oh irony – to pull back our forces from Afghanistan and eventually Iraq. Logistics operating Just In Time before Election 2006.
Elevated threat levels at Homeland Security will be adapted to cover migration trends, no not illegal border crossings, we have our minutemen doing that job, but migration of birds flying across the Aleutians, Alaska and heading South toward our great nation.
Our freedom needs to be defended at home, thank you great leader of the Xtian Right.
Perhaps this administration has a foundation being YELLOW!

oh!!! “of birds” wheeeooo!!!
For a while there I thought you meant internal migration of humans…
I’m so very much relieved.
Not me. I can just imagine him declaring war on Canada Geese as part of the new WoF – War on Feathers (or “Feathas”).
No doubt Alberta has some “WoF-nests” that will need to be eradicated next summer.

In preparation and coordination between the Downing Street Office of Tony Blair and White House Oval Office of George Bush, Blair did groundwork for George by making unfounded accusation against Iran in the hope the consumer accepts these new lies on foreign policy.

Martin – I should be in Exton, PA next week, which is not far from Philly, I think. Would be great to meet up for a latte, if you can spare a little time.
Sven, if you’re in Exton next week, I’m about 5 minutes from there. Can I have a latte too? 🙂
OOOooo I know where Exton is. I have family in Springfield, Downingtown, Marple, and Swarthmore. In my youth I lived in WestChester for a year or so. Yay Filthydelphia and the Surekill express!!!!
Come have lattes with us, then!
Now THAT would be fun, you guys! I don’t know if I would be able to come or not, but keep me posted. 🙂
But of course!
Drop me an email to richardsymbolpeoples.fi with a phone number. I arrive this Saturday and am in Exton all week. Don’t know where I am staying yet, our US colleagues are fixing that. Neither do I know their schedule – but I guess I’ll be tied up during normal working hours, with some mandatory evening socialization thrown in. I don’t enjoy these after hours sessions with Yanks, as I am inclined to pontificate about the state of the world and upset people 😉 So as soon as I can escape business commitments…
If you communicate with Boo, we might be able to all meet together?
was born in Exton. Got him in a pet store there 10 years ago.
More Tribbers meeting FTF — too cool!! Someone take pics please!
😉
Sven, did you post those links somewhere and I missed them or has your fabulous life been keeping you busy? Whenever you get around to it — still looking forward to it! Thanks!
PS Have a great trip!!
Brin – I’ve been real busy on a large project (of which the US trip is part) Sorry…
But start yourselves off at:
http://virtual.finland.fi/
Though it’s a gov site, it has some very good stuff. It’ll give you a flavour of the place and people. You’ll probably find links there to take you further on. But I have to sort thru my links to find the funkier stuff about Finland and Universities in particular. Don’t know if I’ll have time before leaving on Saturday am
Thanks, Sven!! This first one will get me started — when you get back will be fine for the others! I appreciate it!
Safe travels, friend!
BTW if you get a chance and have the technology, check out my latest diary about the Finns attacking Hollywood. The movie ‘Star Wreck – In the Pirkinning’ may tell you more about the Crazy Finns than you need to know 😉
Hey BooMan, clicking on those Google ads has become part of my blogging routine. Where did they go?
I’ve been following the site meter and it looks like the site’s numbers have been steadily creeping up. WooHoo!!
I still click on the other ads, but I used to like the idea of $$ for clicks.
And if not, why did she help create a lecture series at her alma mater, Southern Methodist University, that invited the feminist icon as its inaugural speaker in 1998?
See my blogpost:
Does Harriet Miers “Heart” Gloria Steinem?
that the WH is now bragging about how many Iraqi troops are prepared to “take the lead”. This means having American troops close enough to hold their hands. The previous party-line was that the Iraqis were being trained to “stand on their own”.
If you can’t change the facts, just change the terminology.
I think Assad is a well rounded person, placed in the position of Presideent. I think he’s a very reasonalble person. Nothing like Sadaam or George Bush. He has some humanity in him.
Of course he’s cracking down on jihadists becasue they don’t like him and his secular regime. Just like Sadaam wasn’t like by them.
So Bush is destroying all the secualr regimes in the Mid East to be replaced by people like himself, fundamentalist madmen
Many still do not believe that the election in Ohio was rigged. Harper’s has a convincing report online:
“None Dare Call It Stolen” by Mark Crispin Miller online at harpers.org. But that is not what is on my mind.
It’s this Ohio story in Salon.com. [subscription or day pass.]
So what why was such a big story squelched in 2004?
Funny thing about Wenzel, he was a Republican political operative before he worked for The Blade and after he left The Blade quess where he went? Back to being a Republican political operative. He left the Blad on a Friday and started working as a media consultant for Jean Schmidt on a Monday.
I dare to call the election in Ohio stolen. Please do not let them steal elections again in 2006, in 2008.
