Evangelical Leader Resigns Over Meth and Sex Scandal

Ever notice how the more publicly someone proclaims their piety, and the higher the moral standard they wish to enforce on us, the more depraved they turn out to be? Evangelicals are somehow not very good at picking leaders, for themselves or our nation. Perhaps they should take some lumps about now for their role in this. It’s not enough for them to claim to have been duped. Fool me twice…

I wish that humanity would wake up that leadership that demands an impossible moral code for your behavior is doing it for 3 reasons.

  1. To control you. By providing an unreasonable, unattainable standard for your behavior, the reality of your (apparently) unstoppable sinning keeps you in their comforting, forgiving arms.
  2. Their own personal morality is so corrupt they cannot conceive that morality in our behavior could be enforced any other way but by law (no poking this or that in the following places: … ) and threat (you are going to hell). Their demons are only barely hidden, so we must be treated as their own shame secretly demands they should be.
  3. People in high religious office are all sinners. If only because they are people. All too often, they and their followers believe that their position and importance to the smoother function of society is so great that they are exempt from acting as they demand we do. To me this includes claiming to know the will of God, while for the layperson, God is defined by her unknowability. This hubris alone destroys the legitimacy of their power, as it was based on claims of a higher connection to morality or god that you or I or any human can actually have. This is why you should not listen to preachers as an absolute authority on anything. One that speaks as he were is only revealing his sad hubris and should be ignored. There is a lot to learn from a Teacher, but little from a Pastor.

Perhaps the best thing we can do for humanity is to create a robot pastor. One that says all the right things, has no foul urges and can site biblical passages and esoterica perfectly at just the appropriate moment.

Meme: America’s Greatest Weakness…

Believe me, I wish everyone the best of health and personal safety, and I am sure defending our national security is very important.

But I think we all sense that this War on Terror threatens to be the undoing of the America we know (what’s left of it), the Constitution, the American Dream. Not because of the strength and nature of our enemy, but of the lesser qualities of our own leadership. Our leadership politicians are concerned about getting re-elected, so they cannot take a strong anti-spending stance on the DHS, and for the most part for the policy of interventionist preemption. It seems like we are stuck in this bizarro world of Bush’s for some time. But we can’t just let America turn into some weird corporatist empire out of Blade Runner either. So how can we move from a scenario where spending on speeding the disastrous American transformation can only increase because no one in power can afford to call for anything else, lest they lose their power?

This is America’s Greatest Weakness, it’s  Shakespearean tragic flaw:

It is always looking for the next threat and when it finds one, is compelled to spend Billions in response. It would make sense, if one wanted to do our nation harm, to simply shower our defense and security structures with bogus threats. Become expert in triggering expensive CIA, DHS or DoD responses. Do things that will incite this government to further curtail the rights of the citizenry, thus promoting instability here at home and the further descent of our nation into soul-destroying corporatism. The more extensive our security apparatus, the easier it is for our ‘enemies’ to spend our money and spirit at will.

In a sense, the more of an over-reaction we have to threat, the more ‘preemption’ that proves to be based on false assumptions, the more we lose ground in the War itself. Our politicians lack the spine to do anything but try to out-tough each other with their designs to spend more and more on pursuing a utopian ideal: ‘Homeland Security’. With each incident comes one more inconvenience or curtailment of rights, another expensive program or procedure, another victory for ‘The Terrorists’ who seek to do our economy harm.

With the new DHS and a trigger happy Administration, you don’t have to fly a plane into a building to cost our economy billions of dollars. All you have to do is buy too many cell phones in Peoria, bring glitter hair gel on a few planes and make a few crude video tapes.

Sci-Fi Fantasy About Iranian Domestic Nuclear Energy

It seems, to me, and I would hope that someone can disabuse me of this thought, but it seems to me that an Iranian domestic nuclear energy program is an immediate and daunting threat to the American Oilogarchy. If Iran becomes capable of producing a reasonable percentage of their domestic energy from heavily armored nuclear reactors, they are more free to do wacky stuff like stop oil production or at least sales. This means they can hold hostages again – not western citizens, but economies.
A little fantasy scenario: It’s 2008, The Clash of Civilizations is in full swing as Syria and Lebanon are now occupied by US/British/Israeli/Turkish Coalition forces (UN peacekeepers driven out easily by ‘terrorist’ bombings). Construction of Anglo-American controlled oil pipelines from Iraq to the Mediterranean (via Syria and Lebanon) and from the Caspian to the Indian Ocean has begun in earnest. For some reason construction has begun on a Anglo-American pipeline from the Caspian Southward, towards Tehran. Construction everywhere is under constant terrorist attack.

The Coalition has entirely lost the ‘Arab Street’ and most other populaces, including their own are horrified and what now has obviously been a resource grab from the start. Iran is all but claiming responsibility but the Coalition is too mired in attempting to stabilize it’s occupied territories and cannot fight Eastward into Iran at even partial strength. Both China and Russia are beginning to shed their Western-looking stances more and more. Russia’s oil pipelines out of the Caspian are all but destroyed by ‘terrorists’, but US involvement is suspected. India is a shaky ally who feels very much hemmed in by our aggressive policies, but forced into the Coalition because of their rivalries with Pakistan and China.

Recognizing the ‘Coalition’ forces intentions to take Western Iran and Tehran as well, the Iranian government stops all oil sales and begins stockpiling produced oil, with nasty effect on global markets. They pay off Armenia to reject proposed pipeline routes through their country (Here come the Turks again!) and destabilize Georgia to prevent re-construction of Russian lines there. They foment and support more and more intense resistance to Coalition Occupation of Syria and Lebanon and Iraq. They are growing more threatened, yet more powerful daily as oil prices soar because of their control over their own reserves and the chaos to the West of them.

Soon the economies of the West may lie shattered beneath the cost of transportation and their own investment in making war over converting to renewable energy sources when they had the chance.

All of this without a real nuclear weapon program. No wonder Bush ponders nuking them even now, ‘neverminding’ if they are actually building nukes or not.

If the Bush Doctrine continues to be applied, (“All you need is an imagination and a military to start a war”), we might as well dust off those old ‘F- You, Iran!’ t-shirts from the Reagan era:

http://www.informatik.fh-kl.de/~brackly/download/Bilder/mickey-finger.jpg

Fact is, I could make up a dire threat scenario like this for almost all nations on earth, so if you are trying to start up a war, you can retain me by sending $500 and a SASE to 1313 Mockingbird Lane, Joilet, Illinois.

Why is Their World Defining Your World

Just because Iraq is the elephant in the room, you can’t ignore the vipers on the floor.

There are two Wars the US is conducting right now, and preparing for a third. Remember Afghanistan? Why isn’t it in the news all the time? Why isn’t it part of Bush’s legacy in the minds of anyone here or in the MSM? Why is it that we don’t have enough troops to win the peace in Iraq? Why is it that we have spent millions and millions of dollars propping up murderous War Lord and Drug Lords all over Afghanistan? Why is it that no one publicly talks about the immorality of taking over a country and purposely enshrining it’s most despotic and evil men as it’s founding fathers and freedom fighters. Our noble reasons for going in are voided by such realities. No one talks of how many times the Russians took and held Kabul. No one talks about how Kabul doesn’t matter in 70% of the country.

How can you rail on troop numbers for one war without speaking of the second?

Mark my words, if Iraq won’t degenerate into civil war, we will make damn sure that Afghanistan will.

We are not in Asia to prevent war or to increase stability. We are there to smash any reasonable resistance to our designs on territory (bases) and global resources. We are there to create war and instability and inter-group conflicts. If we weren’t, we would be doing things differently. Much differently.

I have Afghani friends who have given up the comforts of their American homes and returned to their country in hopes of rebuilding it’s institutions and building a free democracy. While no one speaks of giving up or leaving, they are universally disappointed in the nature of the nation that is arising with the assistance of our Government. The nation we over there to build. Men who have terrorized huge regions of the nation for decades, murderous drug lords who kill and rape to control those unfortunate enough to live under their dominion, these are the men that have been ‘elected’ to national office in Afghanistan. The rush to elections for the benefit of the American domestic audience has institutionalized those who, in the chaos of a generational war, rose to power by the most despicable means and have spent their lives profiting from the export of social destruction (drugs) to European and American cities, from child soldiers, from sheltering bin Laden, from ..

This is the Freedom you paid for. This is the Freedom you paid for for the Palestinians. This is the freedom we are creating in Iraq. This is the freedom that will blow back in all our laps soon enough. A poorly rebuild nation has never arisen as a threat again has it, Liebchen?

If freedom is the right to have the boot on your neck stamped with International approval, then we are spreading it all over Asia. It seems that Freedom is equivalent to a power vacuum to the neo-cons, which is a dangerous conflation. Nature abhors a vacuum, so I wonder if she abhors American freedom.

We can only hope that they bring this freedom back to the United States as well, so that organized criminals can once again rise to the hights of power and even more profit can be wrung out of the citizenry through less than legal means without reprocussion.

DHS: New Deal for the Death Heads

There is no really grabbing way to introduce this article, except to say that you should read it. If history will absolve Bush, as nothing else will be able to, there will be more of the oft-heard comparisons to Reagan. Not sure why people feel that way, or would think it a good thing, but they seem destined to continue. I see Bush as more of the Modern reflection of FDR, using the same means and the same mechanisms to very different results. Since I can’t know either man’s mind, I won’t try to. But we can talk results.

Below the fold: a Trip from FDR’s New Deal to Bush’s New Deal for Death Heads.
First thing is to take a few gallons of hot air out of what is typically thought about FDR and the New Deal and Income Tax. Then we can look at Bush’s New Deal for the Death Heads.

Look, not everyone who got a job from the WPA during the depression was 100% competent, but it got us through until our ownership class could foment a good-sized war (even Hitler need financial backers) to reverse as much of the social spending as was possible, returning as much or more of that tax money to the nation’s ‘rightful owners’, the ownership class itself. Not an efficient system, but it kept the hungry quiet and patriotic while the powers that be did their thing.

The income tax and related social spending also introduced significant numbers of the little people into the business of government for the first time. Unfortunately it was as human resources, to be farmed for tax money, to be spent on the designs of the ownership class. Great luck if anything good got done in the mean time (love those tunnels and bridges!). While the income tax brought about our beloved social safety net and much of the infrastructure we enjoy in our parks today, it also ushered in a new golden age of corruption and institutionalized economic and social inequities. That was the devil’s bargain FDR, knowingly or unknowingly, made: Social spending now, when we most need it, in exchange for the creation of a massive money hose for the ownership class to use to permanently install itself. Of course they complain all the way to the bank, to throw off the scent.

The tension between the good and the bad of this New Deal has become the overriding political theme even in today’s America. American politics have been consumed with the battle for who gets to drink from the hose ever since.

Sometimes, this tension leads to debate about destroying this system (makes it possible to think that cutting taxes=100% always right, even when regressive). This will not happen, since no one in power wins in that scenario, so such talk by the representatives of the powerful is really just hot air or some weird manifestation of guilt.

What really goes on, and passes for debate on the subject of taxation, are the rival interests of ownership class elites who wish to dismantle and/or replace the bureaucracies their competitors set up when their Man held power (co-opting their associated corrupt income streams and valuable power).  Just look at what is happening in the CIA or AMTRAK. It will happen again if a Dem wins, but we won’t be complaining then, right? It’s our corruption, afterall.

A big point is many in both parties have little or no interest in providing QUALITY SERVICE, just in the size of budgets and where the contracts go and how easily they can be funneled to an affiliate.

Perhaps an even bigger point is this: In a world of lesser evils, it is the DEMOCRATS, and the DEMOCRATS ALONE, who have made a PUBLIC COMMITMENT to helping the least of us and to forward looking leadership that seeks to establish and preserve high functioning institutions for the purpose of encouraging and actively (it would be nice to be able to say ‘sustainably’ here) expanding our economy while correcting for the inequities of The Marketplace.

Even if these promises were never intended to be delivered upon, they have the wonderful quality of self-fulfillment. Just saying the right thing from a leadership position will attract active and energized people to the right causes. It is my understanding that at least the rank and file of the Democratic party will continue to attempt to swing the tension between social spending and the elite’s tax feast even the slightest bit in the favor of all Americans, even the poor ones. Some of that is going to work. In a country of millions, a few percentage points less of this or more of that means thousands and thousands of lives uplifted or even saved.

Those of us who like the sound of all that have a real problem these days. Bush has simply decided to do the steps of this whole tax-regression thru war-making process simultaneously instead of sequentially and dropped the social responsibility end of the deal almost entirely. Worst of all, he bought us out by handing us all credit cards with money already run up on them:

Remember when he gave everyone a $300 tax relief check? That wasn’t your money just being returned. That was you taking a $300 loan, payments to be made in the future at a fantastically high rate.  Just spending on the Iraq War alone has cost every taxpayer in the US over $2000 each with no end in site, and ever more of each of those dollars goes to defense or service contractors owned by guess whom. Not you. Guess who pays for all this eventually, when the accounting tricks run out? You.

So, the $300 is already spent, and then some. What about the DHS?  This massive new bureaucracy seems to have no NEW function except to place Administration friendlies over more and more of the traditionally non-politicized parts of our government, as well as the usual battleground departments. Yet it costs each taxpayer over $300 per year (remember that number from somewhere?). And no one claims that the money is being spent wisely or returned when needed. Police departments across the nation are buying fleets of new cars instead of buying one or two new ones because the paint jobs would not match otherwise (reported to me firsthand by an officer).

Usama will also probably leave Wyoming alone, since they have been spending 7 times the security budget per capita than New York State. Apparently Devil’s Tower is a big target for ‘The Terrorists’. Who or what is from Wyoming and is so hard to secure? I bet Dick Chaney has some old buddies who are into Security over there.

The ownership elites that the Administration represents are continuing in their efforts to expand the sphere of their corruption despite record public disapproval. Nothing has stopped because of a poll result. Nothing at all.

This New Deal for Death Heads may forever tip the scales of FDR’s arrangement with our ownership class and return us to $1 a day wages, like the rest of the world, conditions they quite obviously prefer to do business in. The way to stop this is not just to keep speaking truth to power and trying to be coherent and right in that attempt, but also to attack the very roadmap we have all been using, as none of the roads lead to the Promised Land. The twin ideas that we must achieve ‘Security’ and make War on Terror are the very ideas that must be destroyed and replaced with ‘Defense’ and a Leadership by Example.

First, swear an oath never to use the word “Security” except about blankets and people wearing Yellow windbreakers at concerts. To speak of the role of the military and government in protecting our interests and safety, use the word ‘Defense’ instead. Why? Look up the two words.

“Security” is an emotional state and the method for attempting to reach that state: freedom from FEAR of attack or damage. Anyone who has been watching humanity for more than a few minutes, knows that this is a utopian state, a limit to be approached, but never attained. Fear is not always correlated with threat levels, to say the least. The Department of Fear Abatement is the perfect department to conduct an endless, ever expanding war, looking for bogeymen, in every phone log, under every bed, in every closet. Anyone who has been watching lately knows that Fear is all to easily to manipulate for nefarious purposes.

We can’t raise our children like this. We must stop the pursuit of Security and replace it with the act of Defense.

“Defense” is the both the method and act of preparing and responding to real and predictable threats. It requires the eventual elimination of threats. Finding a ‘cure’, if you will.

Homeland Security is to threats to our continued success as a nation what the stereotypical modern pharmaceutical company is to a deadly disease: driven by the pursuit of short term gains to a focus on expensive symptom treatments as opposed to the pursuit of cures.

In additional to escaping the eternal conflict promise through ‘Security’, we must have a realistic, if not brawny approach to terrorism. There is nothing wrong with being a bit macho when dealing with very naughty people. This is where I find shame in the behavior of the Bush Administration. Let’s suppose that everything we have heard from the government about the 9/11 attacks were true. What, other than disproportional cowardice, could lead Mr. Bush and the complicit congress to spend-out not only current budget, but our children and grandchildren’s future on an unnecessary war and a massive bureaucracy? Let’s pretend he is a good man and all the corruption is just the weakness of those around him. The Decider was presented with the ‘fact’ that we had been attacked by a bunch of guys operating out of a cave and chose to spend HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of YOUR DOLLARS to BUILD A MONUMENT TO THE POWER OF A SMALL, VIOLENT CULT.

Real strength and leadership would have been to expose the immorality of the act of 9/11 by reacting in a truly Christian fashion: to love your enemy. Perhaps if there were another option besides the Medrasa system to feed the hungry mouths and minds, a Marshall Plan for the Middle East might have gone over better and much, much cheaper. Even if that attempt had failed, guess what, you haven’t blown the family savings on a War of Choice and you still have the military option. That would have been BRAVE: to DO WHAT IS RIGHT IN THE FACE OF DANGER. That would have helped DESTROY OUR ENEMY, by actaully curtailing recruitment (vs. current policy) and facilitating our varied attempts to end supply of man and money to them (moral argument won for those who can hear it), at least the actual people we are facing.

Defending against real threats is probably a better way for the most powerful nation to spend it’s time and largess, and loving the poor as much as the rich the only proper roll of the most economically influential  country in the world who happens to also be the greatest beneficiary of their suffering (suffering added = value added). I would never say that Bush has done nothing on either point, as Nothing is as unattainable in the real universe as Security or the defeat of Terror.

U.S. ‘Captures’ Osama Poll

Well, there’s an election to steal. Something will be done. Intimidating blacks and confusing the elderly won’t work this year, the Repugs are too unpopular. They need another galvanizing event that overwhelms the Public’s offense at the orgy of bad judgments and criminality they’ve indulged in.

Time to dust off Osama’s corpse and chuck it into a pile of rubble in an upcoming raid, or maybe a ‘live capture’ after a harrowing chase on some Mountain roadway. There has got to be a reason the Chimp can still look so smug: he has an Ace. So what’s the best timing in terms of the election cycle for the Admin to whip out the ‘Big Arab’.

Take the poll and place your bets:

Bird Flu/Tamiflu Scam and the Fascist Rumsfeld

I received this by email last night. Anyone have real sources on this? Turns out it is ‘old news’ not reported in the MSM. If it is true, and it is not another unbelievably BIG COINCIDENCE, Rumsfeld should hang for treason. A multi-billion dollar scam of our treasury by a man in his position is pure, unavoidable treason. Perhaps it benefitted no rival nation in particular, but it is unforgivable to steal a billion dollars while we are strapped by wartime spending and corruption and in recovery from the twin economic shocks of 9-11 and Bush-onomics. Don’t get me started on the War profiteering.

Subject: Now here’s a story you won’t find in NYTimes
“Bird Flu”

Do you know that ‘bird flu’ was discovered in Vietnam 9 years ago?

Do you know that barely 100 people have died in the whole world in all  that time?

Do you know that it was the Americans who alerted us to the efficacy of the human antiviral TAMIFLU as a preventative.

Do you know that TAMIFLU barely alleviates some symptoms of the common   flu?

Do you know that its efficacy against the common flu is questioned by a great
part of the scientific community?

Do you know that against a SUPPOSED mutant virus such as H5N1, TAMIFLU   barely alleviates the illness?
Do you know that to date Avian Flu affects birds only?

Do you know who markets TAMIFLU?

ROCHE LABORATORIES.

Do you know who bought the patent for TAMIFLU from ROCHE LABORATORIES  in 1996?

GILEAD SCIENCES INC.

Do you know who was the then president of GILEAD SCIENCES INC. and
remains a major shareholder to this day?

DONALD RUMSFELD, the present Secretary of Defence of the USA.

More below the fold…

Do you know that the base of TAMIFLU is crushed aniseed?

Do you know who controls 90% of the world’s production of this tree?
ROCHE.

Do you know that sales of TAMIFLU were over $254 million in 2004 and
more than $1000 million in 2005?

Do you know how many more millions ROCHE can earn in the coming months
if the business of fear continues?

So  the summary of the story is as follows:

Bush’s friends decide that the medicine TAMIFLU is the solution for a pandemic that has not yet occurred and that has caused a hundred deaths  worldwide in 9 years. This medicine doesn’t so much as cure the common flu.

In normal conditions the virus does not affect humans.    Rumsfe ld sells the patent for TAMIFLU to ROCHE for which they pay him a fortune.

Roche acquires 90% of  the  global production of crushed aniseed, the base for the antivirus.
The governments of the entire world threaten a pandemic and then buy industrial quantities of the product from Roche.

So we end up paying for medicine while  Rumsfeld, Cheney  and  Bush do  the business.

ARE WE CRAZY or WHAT?

AT LEAST PASS THIS ON SO THAT IT CAN BE KNOWN !!

From Wikipedia’s page on Gilead:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilead_Sciences

“In January 1997, Donald Rumsfeld, a Board member since 1988, was appointed Chairman of the company [1]. He stood down from the Board in January 2001 when appointed Secretary of Defense at the start of George W. Bush’s first term as President. Rumsfeld is a minor stockholder (approx. $5 million in value) of Gilead.”

“In November 2005, George W. Bush urged Congress to pass $7.1 billion in emergency funding to prepare for the possible bird flu pandemic, of which one billion is solely dedicated to the purchase, and distribution of Tamiflu.”

Tinfoil Hats Need Your Support

How’s this for crazytalk.

Given:

  1. The USA is now revealing itself as a fascist state. The ’08 Hillary vs. Rice election would be the ultimate example of how fascism co-opts Liberal ideals to attract the Left. Nevermind they are both fascist mouthpieces – they’re WOMEN! And many here just got the urge to say that fact would be more momentous than the fact that we would be choosing Fascist A or Fascist B.
  2. The US gov’t sees it’s own people as a primary threat to it’s current policy course (that darned veil of Democracy is a pain sometimes). This means that, long term, we are going to see more and more policy that does not represent the will of the people. Why else would you have to spy on everyone everywhere?
  3. The re-deployment of resources toward Security vs. Defense creates an unending opportunity to loot the taxpayer’s wallet and make another administration pay the bill. Defense is an achievable state. This is why the military industrial complex doesn’t like the business as much as Security, a psychological state that can easily be prevented from ever being reached, regardless of spending. The is just a point where your defense is good enough, and many were of the opinion that we had reached it. Acting out of fear of limited profits, the corporate end of the complex demanded change. They got both the short-term boost of two wars, and the longterm smorgasbord of the DHS.
  4. This is not a conflict of cultural values. It is a conflict for resource access stability. Yet, it is still a crusade. The purpose of our presence in the Middle East is indeed messianic change. (Perhaps It’s all just a question of who, if anyone, actually needs to be Saved.) The method is not going to continue to be country-by-country invasion, the paradigm presented almost universally as the method of approach towards the region. This is false. The method is to create chaos (lack of security for populace that ‘requires’ our military presence), divide (promote sectarian violence) and conquer (clamp down on infrastructure and revenues, let the fighting go on in the neighborhoods). Does anyone wonder where all the missing oil and oil revenue is going? The divisions were already there: Shi’ah vs Sunni, Iraq v Iran, and Arab vs. Non-Arab Muslim. The first step to work is splitting the Sunni and the Shi’ah. In case you haven’t noticed, our side is Arab and Shi’ah for now. The next step is (new) Iraq versus Iran. And once the new arrangements we make for resources start drying up, look for us in Indonesia (oil), even more involved in the Philippines(transport) and Africa. All Muslim areas. Conflict of cultures it’s not, but it sure will look and act like one hell of a crusade. Why does everyone living on top of the reall sweet stuff have to be a Muslim?
  5. The American populace is not capable of understanding events such as these quickly enough to make changes that will effect outcome. This may or may not be our fault. There’s the problem of media control and government secrecy. But in a country where cities can be paralyzed because of an immigration bill, but an illegal war for profit gets precious few on the streets, there is little reason for the powers that be to feel threatened or to change not just this policy, but the general approach to the world beyond our borders.
  6. This present conflict, the Muslim civil war, stoked and promoted and shepherded by the West (remember Britain and Spain and Italy helped when it counted) is designed to weaken our intended prey as a method to exert final control over their resources. It is being done to soften an opponent, not to liberate or democratize anything. We care not which line of descent owns the rights to ‘Real’ Islam. It is being done with an ultimate East vs. West war in mind. We’ll call that future America’s mini-armageddon or maybe even Cold War II : Crescent Moon Boogaloo.
  7. It is NOT true that it is necessary to fight these people now to limit the damage to us during the unavoidable future mini-armageddon. The Bushies would like us to think that this East v. West conflict is inevitable (they are sooo good at predicting the future), so we have to engage in it now, pre-emptively, so it never becomes a real Armaggedon. Well that sort of makes sense, right? The fact is, the future war is only inevitable because our leaders have decided that through this conflict lies the only path on which THEIR version of OUR country can survive. Perhaps the oil men are just scared of getting into a new business. Perhaps they know stuff we don’t. Perhaps they are so jaded and politicized and controlled that don’t actually have the capacity for Hope, positive goals or progress. Only destruction and fear and easy money.
  8. It is possible to turn this conflict into an opportunity, despite the irreversibility of our course (once the Shi’ah v Sunni war starts ‘Bigtime’, our job is all but done). Some must work in denial of this probable future, incase it is somehow avoided, but some must labor under it’s weight as if it is a known fact.

So.. What does a decent Secular Humanist do in a world where generational violence has been started by evil, evil men and good men stand aside and call it a ‘mistake’ while extremist forces on two sides of an avoidable conflict are lining the world up against one another, demanding your personal resources and that of your children to finance their games? You are already playing and paying for it all, so I say you have to play to win.

Let’s over-simplify WWII to give an example. The British-German relationship was the real crux of the war in the beginning, the Socialists/Communists but pawns in the political wrangling in the build up to war. WWII was about wannabe fascist states duking it out for control of Europe, it’s trade and it’s colonies, regardless of who started it. This conflict was set up to split the colonial world up between them, as the Cold War eventually did split the world between US and Soviet factions. Only problem is that the US and Soviets had other plans, and the rest is history. When the old European powers were weakened, we stepped into the power vacuum, et voila. Secular Humanists need ‘Other Plans’ such as these.

To play the Big Game on the same terms as the Bushies, we essentially need play the role the US and Soviets in European WWII. Deploy resources to profit from the conflict (see USA, Prescott Bush), re-invest those profits into a (perhaps stateless, or so remotely based as to be near stateless) military force capable of stepping in and ‘King Making’ at a point in the mini-armageddon where both sides are critically stressed (see USSR in WWII and recently in Kosovo). We need to prepare for what we know is coming in order to dictate the terms of the outcome. I fear that it may be the best case scenario that we can hope for as the important parts of the world are increasingly run by extremist, fatalist (heaven is a-comin’), bellicose war mongers who treat their own populace like the machines in the Matrix, sucking our efforts’ produce into the feultanks of their machinisms, in endless pursuit of the self-same Security that they themselves destroy.. They are a bunch of crazed Milo Minderbinders, selling eggs to themselves for profit.

We CAN watch it all go down from the sidelines and hope that either the Judeo-Christian fascists or the Islam-o-fascists turn out to benevolent rules in a world of declining resourses, with nature run amock and our last drops of Oil wasted on War and destruction instead of development and sustaining ourselves longterm. Heaven is a comin’. Will you get in or do you need to be Saved, too?

Everytime a Tinfoil Hat wearer is eventually proven to be right, she or he probably doesn’t think it a victory.
