Between Two Ferns

I watched parts of this.  “Hilarious”? I found it excruciating.

It was the first time I came away just not liking Hillary: she came across as extremely guarded.  I have to say it makes me worry about debate performance where she’ll have to be much more agile.

Thank You, Steven Waldman!!

Yes!!

The last time the world saw Donald Trump’s taxes, what we saw was shocking. The billionaire paid no federal taxes at all. That’s right – he made millions and millions of dollars – and paid no taxes.   No wonder he doesn’t want to release the rest of his tax returns. No wonder he wants to dramatically cut taxes for the wealthiest people. In Donald Trump’s world, rich people just aren’t supposed to pay their fair share of taxes.

Misdirection

It occurs to me that the Dr Oz kerfluffel, the NY Post Melania flub, etc., etc. are not just incidental noise but are being orchestrated by the Trump outfit (and let’s remember who they are: Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Stephen Bannon, etc).

Trump is a Manhattan con man and misdirection is an essential trick of the trade.

They’re baiting the press with juicy-sounding stories (“Stoner Doctor!” “Dr. Oz!” “Nude Photos!”, “Pepe the Frog!”) to distract from the important stuff–specifically, Trump’s business dealings.

Eichenwald’s piece in Newsweek (http://www.newsweek.com/2016/09/23/donald-trump-foreign-business-deals-national-security-498081.html
)cuts through the noise but everything needs to be double-checked and clearly explained.

And–lest we forget–it is a real problem that Trump has not released his tax returns.

To Hell with the 1st Amendment

The 2nd is the one they really care about.

“Online volunteers seeking to help Donald Trump by making phone calls might be signing up for more than they bargained for,” the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

“To sign up on Trump’s website, potential volunteers must agree to a 2,271-word non-disclosure agreement in which they also promise they won’t compete against or say anything bad about Trump, his company, his family members or products – now and forever.”
