Enough already with the debates.

We had another Democratic debate last night, and we have another one coming up on Wednesday, and the GOP has another one coming this Thursday. The GOP has had over a dozen debates while the Democrats are not that far behind. My question is do we really need any more debates?? Moderators ask the same questions over and over again, and candidates give the same canned answers over and over again. Does anyone really think anything new is going to come out of these debates?? The GOP is making fools of themselves, talking about everything except the issues, and while Democrats are talking issues, it’s the same issues that they’ve talked about earlier.
It’s time to put an end to the debates until the parties have picked their nominees. Any debate that takes place between now and then are going to be completely useless. The only people who think debates are still useful, are the policy wonks and political junkies who live for this sort of thing. Only 5.5 million people listened to last Democratic debate, and the only reason more people watched the GOP debate was to see Larry, Moe and Curly take shots at each other. Please, enough of these useless, boring, stupid debates. Overkill to the max!!

The Hillary train is picking up speed

With her seven wins tonight, Hillary Clinton extended her lead over Bernie Sanders with regards to the delegate count. As of right now, Clinton has 984 confirmed delegates, while Sanders has 347. 172 delegates are uncommitted. Two more primaries will occur this coming Saturday, Michigan, where Hillary has a 19 point lead, (Combined polls), and Mississippi, where the one poll I’ve seen, has Hillary up 34% On March 15th, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio hold primaries, and Hillary currently leads in Florida, North Carolina and Ohio.

Hillary is well on her way to getting the nomination. It’s not about endorsements, not about speeches, not about big crowds, it’s about votes, delegates and who can beat Donald Trump. In the end, Hillary Clinton, with her experience, and her leadership, can take down Trump and win. The train is picking up steam!!

The Hillary train is leaving the station, all aboard

With Hillary’s overwhelming victory in South Carolina, it’s time to get on board the train and ride this thing beyond the convention and all the way to the White House. The train will stop from time to time as Bernie wins a state or two, but the growing momentum Hillary is getting as more and more states fall to her, means the die is cast. Democrats, independents and even Republicans, who will not under any circumstances, vote for Donald Trump are invited.

ALL ABOARD!!!!!!

Bernie Sanders Southern problem

So far, Bernie Sanders has done very well, hanging in there with Hillary Clinton, virtually tying her in Iowa and trouncing her in New Hampshire, and while polls have been scarce in Nevada, the latest poll has him about even with her heading into the caucus on Saturday.

That being said, after Nevada, the race heads into the south, and if the polls are to be believed, Sanders is in a world of hurt in which he may not be able to free himself of. PPP did 12 polls in the Super Tuesday states on March 1st, and Hillary leads in 9 of them. Here are the numbers.

Alabama, Clinton 59, Sanders 31
Arkansas, Clinton 57, Sanders 32
Georgia, Clinton 60, Sanders 26

Louisiana, Clinton 60, Sanders 29
Michigan, Clinton 50, Sanders 40
Mississippi, Clinton 60, Sanders 26
Tennessee, Clinton 58, Sanders 32
Texas, Clinton 57, Sanders 34
Virginia, Clinton 56, Sanders 34

The three other races are Oklahoma, where Clinton leads 46-44, Massachusetts where Sanders leads 49-42 and Vermont, Sanders home state where he leads 89-10.

Bernie Sanders has acquitted himself very well, and has done better than a lot of people expected him to, but as the race enters March, and if the polls hold, reality is going to slap him in the face and rather hard.

Hillary Clinton’s great week

Going into this week, Hillary Clinton was not having the kind of campaign she was hoping for. Her numbers were dropping, the Benghazi flap was still dogging her, more talk of Joe Biden getting into the race, Bernie Sanders was hot, and people were scared that the rails had come off and she was going down and hard. When the debate came, many wondered what was going to happen. Would Sanders keep to momentum going, would Hillary stumble, would Anderson Cooper get in a “gotcha” question that Hillary couldn’t answer. So many questions, so few answers.

By the end of the debate, most, if not all the questions were answered. By most accounts, Hillary had a great debate, answered every question in a commanding way, looked very presidential, and I think stopped all the talk about her imploding campaign and silenced the talk at least somewhat about Biden entering the race.
Right now, Hillary Clinton is in a commanding position. Leading in almost all the polls, (even one poll in New Hampshire had her ahead), the campaign raising $33 million dollars in the last quarter, the Benghazi smear campaign seemed to be basically irrelevant now with 3 GOP members of Congress saying the whole thing is a political witch hunt. She clearly has the momentum on her side. Now we all know that this all could change over time. This race is not even close to being a sure thing for her and things can change on a dime, but that being said, Hillary Clinton had a terrific week. No one can argue that point. Time to keep the momentum going.

Side message to Joe Biden, time to make a decision. Are you in or out??

The electoral college as I see it.

Back in February, I penned a story about the electoral college, and how Obama had a lead over then presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Now that Romney is the Republican nominee, (and doing a horrible job), time to update my figures on the race.

Obama states; Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, DC. Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. 25 states plus DC.  303 electoral votes

Romney states; Alaska, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.  24 states,   206 electoral votes

Tossup states; Florida.  1 state,  29 electoral votes.
Now, things can change, but as of right now, Romney has quite an uphill battle on his hands. Obama definitely had the advantage. Romney must change the narrative, or he’s a certain loser. Judging by what he’s done so far, it doesn’t look good for ole Mittens.

The electoral college vote as I see it

We have seen poll numbers with Obama leading here or Romney leading there, but the true outcome will be decided by the electoral college vote, so here is what I think the states that Obama has locked up. I am going on the assumption that Romney is the nominee of the Republicans, so take this with a grain of salt, but here goes.

Obama states; Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico. Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii, (22 states, plus DC, 266 electoral votes)

Romney states; Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, South Carolina. (23 states, 186 electoral votes).

Tossup states; Arizona, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia.  (5 states, 86 electoral votes).

That’s the way I see it as of now. How do you guys see it??

Where’s the drill baby drill crowd??

Now that we have the potential for an ecological and monetary disaster in the Gulf from the oil spill, I don’t hear anyone from the “drill baby drill” idiots. Where are they?? Where is Sarah Palin?? Why isn’t she defending her oil buddies?? Where is George Bush? Why isn’t he out there defending BP??

Why isn’t the media sticking a microphone in Palin’s face, and asking her about this?? I’m sure she’ll say it’s the liberals fault, just like oxycontin boy Limbaugh says it is.

What about Bobby Jindal now asking for massive federal help!! The same Bobby Jindal who decries the feds getting too big, who didn’t want any of the stimulus money, calling Obama a socialist on health care. Where are all these hypocrites??
