Mc.Cain. Graham, and Warner will back down.

With heaps of praise being vented on the left, and heaps of scorn on the right towards John Mc.Cain, Lindsey Graham, and John Warner for their stand on the Geneva convention, and the torture issue, what we all fail to understand is that sooner or later, Mc.Cain. Graham, and Warner will cave in to George Bush, like they’ve done in the past, and Bush will have his right to torture people even more than he’s doing now. You can see it happening already, with the talk of compromise.

Steven Hadley, the president’s man on torture, was on ABC’s “this week”, and planted the seeds of compromise.  He said the president is willing to work with them to try to get something done, and he thought it would be in the best interest of the country to do so.
For their parts, the three Senators stood firm on the issue, and said for them, it was an issue of both morality, and fairness. They also said if Bush doesn’t change his mind on this issue, they will have the votes to block any legislation that comes along.

Now we all know what this is called, don’t we?? It’s called political grandstanding. Mc.Cain and friends have already back down on several issues, allowing Bush, in essence to break the law, and get away with it. This will be no different. After a few days of tough talk, Mc.Cain and his allies will once again do what they have done in the past, and let Bush have his way. All Bush has to say is these people are not allowing me to protect you from the evil, nasty terrorists, and Mc.Cain and friends will fold like a deck of cards.

I promise this is what’s going to happen. when all is said and done, a “compromise” will be offered, and in the end, Bush will once again get his way, and the hell that man has put us through since he took office, will continue.

Joe Lieberman, kingmaker??

Interesting article by Seth Gitell in the N.Y. Sun this morning. The way the Senate maybe setting up, it well could be a 50-50 tie. I know it’s a long shot, but if it should ever come to that, one person could be instrumental in seeing that Bush’s agenda either passes or fails, and that Senator maybe Joe Lieberman.

That’s right, the man most liberals want to get rid of, simply on the basis of one vote, could be the difference in what happens with Bush’s agenda for the next two years.

If Lieberman survives Lamont’s challenge, and if everything goes the Democrats way, Democrats may have no choice but to court Lieberman on a variety of issues, including the war on terror, Iraq, and the domestic agenda.

Liberals would not want that simply because Lieberman would side with Bush on the terror war, and Iraq. Conservatives would not like it simply because Lieberman would side with Democrats on a whole bunch of other issues, like health care, the enviroment and taxes.
This puts Lieberman in the enviable position of others asking for his vote.

I know it’s going to make most of you in here sick, but what if you had to rely on Joe Lieberman to get something passed?? Interesting, very interesting.

John Kerry, "I’m going to kick some Swiftboat ass".

John Kerry all but made it clear today that he intends to run for president again in 2008. Interviewed by Bill Sammon of the Examiner, Kerry doesn’t believe the conventional wisdom that Hillary Clinton is the front runner.

He also said that he also intends to take the swiftboaters on personally. In 2004, the swiftboat veteran for “truth” made a series of commericals attacking Kerry for his Vietnam military service. He said he is ready to “kick some swiftboat ass”.

My personal opinion, I like Kerry, but he had his chance. I don’t know if the Democrats are so willing to give him a second one.

Susan Sarandon; Don’t vote for Hillary, in primary.

Susan Sarandon recently taped a message to the Democratic voters of New York, in essence telling them not to vote for Hillary, and vote for her opponent Johnathan Tasini.

Here is her message.

“Hi, I’m Susan Sarandon. Hillary Clinton voted for George Bush’s war in Iraq. She supports the continued occupation of Iraq. Her opponent, Johnathan Tasini has opposed the war, and is calling for an immediate withdrawl from Iraq, and from a new deal with New York workers. On Sept. 12th, vote for Johnathan Tasini

I just wonder how many people will listen to her??

Ned Lamont’s raging hypocrisy

Earlier this week, Ned Lamont criticized Joe Lieberman for publicly speaking out on the Senate floor about Bill Clinton and the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Here is what Ned said.

“You don’t go to the floor of the Senate, and turn this into a political spectacle. You go up there, sit down with one of your oldest friends, and say you’re embarrassing yourself, your presidency and you’re embarrassing your family, and it has to stop”. This is what Lamont says now, but when the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal hit, old Neddie has a much different tone.

This is an e-mail that Lamont sent to Lieberman, Sept. 16th 1998.

” Dear Joe, I reluctantly supported the moral outrage you expressed because I thought it might make matters worse. I was reluctant because nobody expressed moral outrage over how Reagan treated his kids, or Gingrich lied about supporting term limits, (In other words, it was selective outrage); I was reluctant because the Starr inquisition is much more threatening to our civil liberties, and our national interest than Clinton’s misbehavior.

I supported your position because Clinton’s behavior was outregeous; a Democrat had to stand up and state as much, and I hoped that your statement was the beginning of the end.

Unfortunately, the statement was the beginning of a process that has turned political and morally offensive. I’m the father of three, and the thought that Clinton testifying about oral sex before a grand jury, might be broadcast into my living room is outregeous. The Starr report, read like a tabloid, not a legal recitation, and that it streamed into my home via every medium available.

This sorry episode is an embarrassment to me as a father, and to us as a nation. If Clinton had a sex problem, mature adults would have handled this privately, not turned it into a political crusade and legal entanglement, with no end in sight.

Senator, you have expressed your outrage about the presidents conduct, now stand up, and use your moral authority to put an end to this snowballing mess. We all know the facts, a lot more than any of us care to know, and should know. We’ve made up our minds that Clinton did wrong, confessed to his sin, and should be censored for lying, and then move on. It is time for you to make up your mind, and speak your mind as you did so eloquently last Thursday”.

Sincerly, Ned Lamont.

There it is folks in black and white. Lamont criticizes Lieberman for speaking out on the floor about the Lewinsky mess, yet in an e-mail, he supports Joe, albeit reluctanly, for speaking on the floor of the Senate. This is the raging hypocrisy of Ned Lamont.

Rasmussen poll, Ford pulls to within a point of Corker

Although I do not live in Tennessee, I am smiling because Harold Ford Jr. is now trailing Republican Bob Corker for Senate by a single point, (45-44%).

Ford is one of the DLC moderates who is just what Tennessee needs. A young, bright, extremely well versed man with new ideas to carry the Democrats onward and upward. If he wins, Ford will join Barack Obama as great ambassadors for African-Americans.

Ford has rallied his support in Tennessee. He was down as much as 12% earlier, but he has talked straight and honest to the people of Tennessee, and that has helped him to narrow the gap impressively.
I call on the people of Tennessee, the home state of Al Gore, to do the right thing and elect Harold Ford Jr. to the Senate. This man is the future of the Democratic party. If he have more people like Harold Ford in the Democratic party, it will be a much better party, and a much better chance of yet again, becoming the majority party.

Rasmussen poll;

Remember, Rasmussen polls tend to favor Republicans.

Richard Armitage, a treasonous man!!!

Richard Armitage has now come out and said that he was the man who leaked Valerie Plame Wilson’s name to Robert Novak, causing her career to come to a halt, and start the Patrick Fitzgerald investigation.

Armitage says he is now sorry to all the people involved. He “screwed up”.

Sorry Richard, apologizing now is not good enough. You sir should be facing charges of treason for outing a covert CIA agent.

Valerie Plame’s career is over because of you. 20 years spent in the CIA are now out the window simply because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut, and told nutsy Novak who she was. Sir, you put this country through hell for years, and severely compromised national security simply because Joe Wilson had the audacity to question Bush’s war.
You are just damn lucky you are not in a cell with striped sunlight, wearing an orange jumpsuit with black little numbers across your chest. This is just another example of how far the right will go to smear anyone who doesn’t fall in lock step with Bush’s killing war.

The sad thing about it is in the right wing blogosphere, Armitage is now going to be considered a hero. This man is no hero. Mark Felt was a hero, Armitage should be brought up on charges, and locked away for life.

Alan Dershowitz supports John Bolton

Recently, the Washington Times ran an op-ed by Alan Dershowitz explaining why he supports John Bolton. If you want to read the article, go to;

http://washtimes.com/op-ed/20060727-083002-3605r.htm

I have only one comment to make of this. Why would anyone, especially the leaerned Mr. Dershowitz, want to support a man who has openly advocated blowing up the UN? It really makes no sense to me why anyone would support this buffoon. This man is not a diplomat, and will never be a diplomat. He is arrogant, cruel, misinformed and just plain stupid. Mr. Dershowitz, and anyone else who supports John Bolton, ought to have his head examined.

Anti Jewish rants on Move-on.org

Some Anti-Jewish rants were recently plastered up on the liberal website Moveon.org, according to the NY Post.

Slurs such as the following were on the site before being taken down by Moveon. “Media owning Jewish pigs”, “Zionazis”, “Jew Lieberman”, and “Why are Jews so Jew-y”.

Abraham Foxman, head of the anti-defamation league called this type of hate, totally irresponsible, and has no place in today’s society.

Moveon.org head Eli Pariser said that while the free flowing comments on his website are allowed, this type of hate will not be tolerated, and a spokesperson for the website said it may have been a conservative attempt to paint liberals as hating Lieberman for being Jewish. Copies of the offending statements were given to the Lieberman camp, they had no immediate comment.
