Thursday Dog Blog (and general critter blogging)

Any word on the fiends that stole my fleece?
Today is actually warm, but we had a spate of cool and rainy weather last week.  Poor Inti had to huddle in the shelter to stay reasonably warm and dry.  Everyone else, including little Pacha, sat out in the rain as usual.

A fine sight to start the new year: wet dog!

We’ve had over an inch of rain in the last 24 hours.  Woo, and might I add Hoo!

Of course, she’s being an in/out/in/out (with lots of towling required) pain-in-the-butt this morning, but every sliver lining has its great big furry cloud.

Luna’s been a bit upstaged by Albert of late (Albert does that).

So I thought I’d put her back front and center for this weeks installment.

Here are more ‘action’ shots of her playing her favorite game: catch/keep away.

Since humans clearly do not offer her enough opportunities to catch her rope toys, she throws them for herself (and usually catches them) while she runs back.

As you probably have surmised from the top shot, for humans this is a “protect your knees” game – because she’ll take them out from under you if you are not watchful.

Ho-Ho-Humbug from Albert, and Happy Holidays from the rest of the gang at Sook Farm.

Sorry, I’ve never seen a Numbat or a Brolga myself, so you’ll have to settle for weblinks to see pictures of them.

All the photos in the song are mine.

Thursday Dog Blog (with BABY ALPACA PICS!!!)

Nina had her cria at about 2:00pm today. It’s a girl, and we’re calling her “Humbug” (because she hums fairly constantly) until we come up with a real name.

Here she is at less than an hour old.

Do these legs come with an operating manual?

Happy Turkey- and Tofurky-day to those of you in my homeland.

May all your gastronomic excesses bring only slight discomfort.

Luna wishes she was there.

This is our usual “resting” spot on our bush walk.  It’s just inside the northern most boundry of our block.  That little yellow house to the left of Luna’s head is ours, and is only about a 50 meters inside southern boundry of our property.  In between are lots of ups and downs.  It makes for a good walk.

We continue to have weird weather for Spring (as you can see in the grey-sky of the photo), with most of the last few weeks being over-cast or even snowy, interspersed with the ocassional hot & humid day.  What would really be great is a week of spectacular downpours followed by the usual mild sunny Spring weather.
