The Unanimous Declaration
of the Thirteen United States of America

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian savages, whose known rule of warfare, is undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have we been wanting in attention to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, enemies in war, in peace friends.

We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do. And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Free yourselves from this criminal regime that respects none of the ideals fought for above, or forever hold your heads in shame for not doing what the constitution of the United States of America requires.

Rich Little: “Conservative” Whore has them Laughing

It had to be said.

And as a Canadian, I have to apologize on behalf of this unfunny man who originated from my country.  You suck, Mr. Little.  And you embarrassed my country with your witless performance last night.

I especially loathe your disingenuity by telling us before and during your silly shtick that “you’re not a political satirist” (a la Colbert).  You see, Mr. Little, I would argue that you ARE indeed political in what you touch and what you don’t touch.

You ARE as political as the American network news who’s bias never gives time to the flag draped coffins of 3,000 American servicemen and women returning home from a blood-drenched Iraq.  You ARE as political as this sycophantic media who would rather chat endlessly about tragedies involving rich white people — but not the 700,000 brown people who have been slaughtered with the help of the government you cozied with last night.

Oh, and this proves my point somewhat, too…

So is he a Republican?

Rich Little was NOT hired due to his “soft” approach to “humour”.  Rich Little was hired because he is a “conservative”.

Little said organizers of the event made it clear they don’t want a repeat of last year’s controversial appearance by Stephen Colbert, whose searing satire of President Bush and the White House press corps fell flat and apparently touched too many nerves. [TRANSLATION: It hit the truth so hard that millions of Americans downloaded this brilliant performance on YouTube for weeks afterwards]

“They got a lot of letters,” Little said Tuesday. “I won’t even mention the word ‘Iraq.'”

Little, who hasn’t been to the White House since he was a favorite of the Reagan administration, said he’ll stick with his usual schtick — the impersonations of the past six presidents.

“They don’t want anyone knocking the president. He’s really over the coals right now, and he’s worried about his legacy,” added Little, a longtime Las Vegas resident.

So, here’s CONSERVATIVE Rich Little to the rescue!  Good entertainment — and the truth — be damned!!

And listen to how the president of the WHCD contradicts himself in one fell swoop after he talks about this being an exhibition in the first ammendment rights…

Steve Scully, president of the press association, said the event is “a celebration of the first amendment,” referring to the right of free speech.

“The purpose of this dinner is to bring together sources. There’s one toast to the president; you’re toasting the institution,” he said.

“But you can’t invite a president and turn him into a political pinata. That’s just not the purpose.”

My advice to [Little’s agency] when we booked [him] in December was to follow the time-honored Washington motto [of] the Gridiron Dinner: ‘Singe, but never burn.’ “

He was referring to Steven Colbert directly.

So, if you want to tell us that this is a Republican safe “joke”-fest from now on with only entertainers allowed who support the president — fine.  But don’t spoon-feed us this load of crapola that the WHCD doesn’t like the event being “too controversial”.  30% of Americans support Chuckle-nuts, for chrissakes!

Yeah. Quite a “singe” Mr. Little.  I remember hearing the President chuckling loudly with his, “heh, heh” petulant schoolboy laugh quite a few times in your singe-fest.

In fact, Mr. Little, it seems that you are quite honoured to have been the entertainer for Mr. Bush a year before at the Presidential inaugauration ceremony, seeing this posted at your website

Non-political, indeed.

But the bullshit continues:

“No one ever put restrictions on what I can do or say,” Little said. “I wouldn’t mention Iraq because there’s nothing funny about it.”

It’s good to laugh. I know we’re going through a troubled times right now, but ya gotta laugh and ya gotta take your mind off of things that are going on.  So, if I made you laugh or smile for the last half hour, it was all worthwhile.


TRANSLATION:

It’s good not to laugh at how much of a miserable world-class failure this president and his administration has been.  We’re going through tough times right now caused by others, but you gotta laugh at others and not direct the humour at the real truth of the matter — much like the corporate media (and unlike people like Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart).  So, if I made you forget about how much of a supreme clusterfuck this president has been to the world for the last half hour, it was all worthwhile because I received 5 figures for whoring for this administration.

Oh, and I didn’t think those Canadian jokes were particularly funny at the beginning of your shtick, either.  Helping your family immigrate from Canada?  Canadians taking Mexican jobs in the U.S.?  WTF!!!

Canada Health System Cheaper & Better than U.S. Studies Shows

I thought I’d give my fellow Libs in the U.S. a heads-up on this very interesting study that you may want to use when backing up your arguments with respect to a national health care system for the U.S.

From the Toronto Star:

Health outcomes for patients in Canada are as good as or better than in the United States, even though per capita spending is higher south of the border, suggest Canadian and U.S. researchers who crunched data from 38 studies.

Cheaper AND better?!

Follow me below and I’ll provide a summary of the article…
Here are the details on the cost per capita.  One of the authors of the article in Open Medicine, Dr. P.J. Devereaux, explains:

…in the United States, they’re currently spending a little over $7,100 per individual on health care annually, whereas in Canada we’re spending a little over $2,900 per individual annually…

That’s right!  Americans spend more than twice what Canadians spend on healthcare.  One of the reasons, of course, is a more regulated drug industry north of the border.  Other reasons cited are inefficiencies with the insurance industry.

As for the “quality” of health care — this surprised me, I must admit.  All Canadians have access to health care — no matter your income level.  However, there seems to be no trade-off when looking at how effective the system is with the most important metric — your health.

Researchers began by asking the question: Are there differences in health outcomes (mortality or morbidity) in patients suffering from similar medical conditions treated in Canada versus those treated in the United States?

“Overall, Canada did better, and in fact we found a statistically significant five per cent mortality advantage to people with diagnoses in Canada compared to their counterparts in the United States,” Devereaux said.

Canada seemed to really shine with Dialyses care, noted by the study.

For Canada, this study should solidify the importance of a public health care system.  My country has been debating whether or not to move towards a 2-tiered system — God forbid!  For the U.S., it contradicts a myth that more money pumped into a health system means that the citizens get better health care.

9-Year-Old Boy ‘hostage’ by U.S. – Move along now…



Yesterday, chuckle-nuts rambled on without any sense of irony once again about the so-called British “hostages” captured by Iran recently.

“The Iranians must give back the hostages. They’re innocent.

“The Iranians took these people out of Iraqi waters. It’s inexcusable behaviour.

“I strongly support the Blair government’s attempts to resolve this peacefully. And I support the prime minister when he made it clear there were no quid pro quos.”

15 seasoned British soldiers detained in a region that is rife with conflict and paranoia.

The irony that I referred to was well below the sycophant U.S. media radar  less than a month ago when a 9 year old Canadian boy was held for MORE THAN A MONTH in a former maximum security prison in Texas with his parents.

Of course, the Canadian government didn’t make an international scene out of it similar to what is going on now — even though the Bush administration has broken international law far more than Ahmadinejad could even dream of.  Where was the “international condemnation” then?

AMY GOODMAN: …Majid, your story is quite a remarkable one. Can you tell us how you ended up at this Texas jail?

MAJID: Hello. Thanks for taking my call. I was on my way to go to Toronto, Canada, and my plane was — after three hours in the flight, somebody died on the plane and had an emergency landing to Costa Rica. After that, they said everybody should come out. After that, we went out. Immigration, they said you need to have American visa. We had no American visa. And they hold us over there —

AMY GOODMAN: Now, just to be clear, you were never planning to end up in the United States, is that right? You were flying to Canada, but another passenger on the plane had a heart attack, and so you guys had a forced landing in Puerto Rico, and when you had to come out of the plane, while he was taken off the plane, that’s when they took you?

MAJID: Yes. This happened, yes — was a Canadian Zoom Airline, and our ticket was direct from Guyana to Toronto. And this happened. They hold us — my son is Canadian — hold child is nine-and-a-half years old, and they put us in detention in Puerto Rico. And from Monday to Friday, I was in the jail in Puerto Rico between criminal people, and my wife and son was other place. We had no news from each other from Monday morning until Friday at noon, until we see each other in a Puerto Rico airport. After that, they brought us here to Hutto Detention Center, and here we are in same part, but different room. My wife and my son is room, but it’s totally inside the room, uncovered toilet. My son has asthma, and he’s very bad and still comes here. It’s very horrible here. And we are in very bad situation. We need help. We need the people help me —

JUAN GONZALEZ: Majid, in other words, basically, what reason did they give you for holding you if you never intended to enter the United States at all? What reason did they give for locking you up?

MAJID: Because they said, “You have an American visa?” That’s why you have to stay here. Just plane was waiting one hour for us, but they didn’t let us pass. A few officers came. They said Immigration officers — six, seven — they said, “We’re going to send you, but let us make decision.” After that, they called the police chief. He came there. He said, “Let me think five minutes.” After five minutes, he came, he said, “I’m going to send you to Canada, but I’m afraid to lose my job. But usually we have to send with your plane, but we keep you here. America is much better than Canada. Here you have safer place. We send you to hotel, and after a few days, you’re going to be free.” But they broke their promise. That’s why they keep us here, and we have very bad situation here.

JUAN GONZALEZ: Do you know whether any other passengers on your plane were also detained in the same way, or was your family the only one, as far as you can tell?

MAJID: Only my family. No other passenger.

Got that?!

An Iranian family — who posed absolutely no threat to the United States of America — (and who’s 9-YEAR-OLD son is a Canadian citizen) were treated like criminals after the plane that they were on was diverted to Puerto Rico due to another passenger dying of a heart attack.

They were detained in what was once a maximum security prison for about 1 month. That’s right! ONE MONTH.

Here’s the 9-YEAR-OLD boy’s account of his stay as a “hostage” of the American governmnet. Funny, we didn’t hear this audio on any major media in the states, eh?!

AMY GOODMAN: Thank you. We’re talking to Majid and Kevin in the Hutto Detention Center that’s run by the Corrections Corporation of America in Taylor, Texas.

KEVIN: Hello.

AMY GOODMAN: Hi, Kevin. How are you?

KEVIN: Not good.

AMY GOODMAN: Can you tell us the situation you’re in right now and what you want to happen right now?

KEVIN: Excuse me, I didn’t hear you.

AMY GOODMAN: Can you describe where you are right now?

KEVIN: I’m in US jail right now.

JUAN GONZALEZ: And Kevin, where are you staying at night? Are you with your parents, or are they locking you up separately?

KEVIN: I’m with my parents, but we’re in separate rooms.

JUAN GONZALEZ: In separate rooms?

KEVIN: Yeah.

JUAN GONZALEZ: And are they letting you — are you getting any kind of education, or are you just sitting in your cell all day?

KEVIN: We’re sitting in the cell all day.

AMY GOODMAN: What do you want to do now, Kevin?

KEVIN: I want to be free. I want to go outside, and I want to go to school. I want to be in my homeland: Canada.

AMY GOODMAN: You want to go home to Canada?

KEVIN: What?

AMY GOODMAN: You want to go home to Canada?

KEVIN: Yeah. My home is in Canada.

JUAN GONZALEZ: How are the other children there? Are you spending time with any of the other children?

KEVIN: No.

AMY GOODMAN: They don’t let you spend time with the other children?

KEVIN: No. I’m sleeping beside the washroom, and I can’t — and I’m upstairs. I can’t go to the washroom all the time. And there’s a lot of smell coming out from the washroom. And the food is garbage. And the school is very bad. I can’t learn anything good. And I have asthma, and I got sick in here. I can’t stay here anymore.

AMY GOODMAN: Kevin, you said you’re sleeping next to the bathroom?

KEVIN: Yeah. And it’s not a separate room. It’s right beside the bed. And I’m sleeping beside the wall, and my back gets sick and it hurts.

AMY GOODMAN: How is your mother?

KEVIN: My mother is sick.

approximately 3 weeks later — after the Canadian Government gave them temporary residency certificates (due to mass anger out of this situation by Canadians everywhere), the Yourdkhani family arrived in Toronto. The father repeated the treatment at the “hostage” location.

It was miserable condition they had over there,” Majid Yourdkhani said, standing by his wife as he spoke to reporters at the Toronto airport.

“There are almost 200 children that live there in very bad conditions. Now most of the children there have chicken pox, eye infections, flu.”

Got that?!!! The U.S. government is holding 200 children at a former maximum security prison. RIGHT. NOW!

The former “hostages” of the U.S. government arrive in Toronto

I won’t even reiterate the attrocities committed at Abu Guraib or at Guantanamo or at the many secret CIA interrogation camps around the world that have sacrificed many innocent souls in deplorable fashion.

So, you’ll exuse me if I don’t react in quite the same way to the 15 British military hostages (as sympathetic as I am to them), when I see them eating comfortably and smoking cigarettes.

You’ll have to excuse me for not reacting the way the corporate media would like me to react.

BTW, for a great analysis of this situation with the British hostages and the over-the-top outrage that is being generated by the corporate media, we again have to read the words of a comedian. This time it’s Terry Jones from Monty Python fame:

I share the outrage expressed in the British press over the treatment of our naval personnel accused by Iran of illegally entering their waters. It is a disgrace. We would never dream of treating captives like this – allowing them to smoke cigarettes, for example, even though it has been proven that smoking kills. And as for compelling poor servicewoman Faye Turney to wear a black headscarf, and then allowing the picture to be posted around the world – have the Iranians no concept of civilised behaviour? For God’s sake, what’s wrong with putting a bag over her head? That’s what we do with the Muslims we capture: we put bags over their heads, so it’s hard to breathe. Then it’s perfectly acceptable to take photographs of them and circulate them to the press because the captives can’t be recognised and humiliated in the way these unfortunate British service people are…

That "Pink Lady" is one step ahead of you

Oh!  The HORROR!

What is she doing…I mean “he”…I mean…”she”.  Our sacrosanct frame of the beautiful and victimized Valerie Plame has been RUINED!!!!!

The last laugh (which is no laughing matter) is on YOU, however.  You see, the lady in pink is one step ahead of YOU in understanding this whole situation — even if it may not be known to the pink lady herself.
You see, it saddens me to know that this whole situation is becoming one big joke.  A tragic joke of gargantuan proportions.  So I see the pink as really  “black”.  For nothing is taken seriously in the 4th Estate anymore.  The “watch-dog” is a toy poodle that does tricks now and then.


This Jeanne Moos clip is reflective of the U.S. corporate media in general.  Totally unwilling to look behind the reason why an ex-navy republican veteran would present herself this way.

No.  God no!  It must be framed as “antics” of a “special breed” of person.  More cute than curiosity, even when the subject is not of the Anna Nicole Smith variety.

The irony is that the corporate media and the U.S. citizenry are being mocked by this pink lady.  It is ONE. BIG. JOKE.

Let’s impeach the president for lying

And leading our country into war

Abusing all the power that we gave him

And shipping all our money out the door

He’s the man who hired all the criminals

The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors

And bend the facts to fit with their new stories

Of why we have to send our men to war

On citizens inside their own homes

Breaking every law in the country

By tapping our computers and telephones

What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees

Would New Orleans have been safer that way

Sheltered by our government’s protection

Or was someone just not home that day?

For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected

Official Retracts “US: Stupid, Arrogant” – CONTRADICTS Bushco.

No sooner did senior State Department official, Alberto Fernandez utter these commments:

“History will decide what role the U.S. played. And God willing, we tried to do our best in Iraq. But I think there is a big possibility for extreme criticism and because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and stupidity from the United States in Iraq.”

Fernandez has now retracted these comments.

Thank you kindly sir for giving this story “legs”.
Today Fernandez has told Al Jazeera:

“This [the comments where he calls the U.S. actions in Iraq “stupid and arrogant”] represents neither my views nor those of the State Department. I apologise,” Alberto Fernandez, US state department director of public diplomacy in the Near Eastern Affairs bureau, said on Sunday.

Fernandez said he realised after reading the interview transcript that he “seriously misspoke” in using the phrase, “there has been arrogance and stupidity” by the United States in Iraq.

Ahhhh….he “misspoke”.

Say. No. More.  That explains everything.

Kinda like when Mark Foley “mistyped” about giving a blowjob to a teenaged page.

Of course, this now completely contradicts what State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack said yesterday:

– State Department Spokesman, Sean McCormack.

A state department spokesman, Sean McCormack, yesterday claimed Mr Fernandez had been mistranslated, and said he had disputed the description of his comments. Asked whether he thought Washington could be judged as arrogant, Mr McCormack – who was in Moscow with Condoleezza Rice – snapped “No”. However, a transcript by the Associated Press confirmed the accuracy of Mr Fernandez’s reported quotes.
