The Kennebunkport Train Wreck: Leadership? What Leadership?

Also: WWIII, The Much Neglected Heart of the Matter

The train wreck occasioned by “The Kennebunkport Warning Hoax Controversy” continues to reverberate, and the wreckage still hasn’t stopped crumbling.

But even amid the trembling ruins of what was supposed to be a Unified Anti-War and 9/11-Truth Movement, we can clearly see empty holes where supposedly key leaders once stood.

In an unexpected sense, this disaster presents us with a fantastic opportunity.

For those who haven’t yet seen it, the text of the Kennebunkport Warning runs like this:

Massive evidence has come to our attention which shows that the backers, controllers, and allies of Vice President Dick Cheney are determined to orchestrate and manufacture a new 9/11 terror incident, and/or a new Gulf of Tonkin war provocation over the coming weeks and months. Such events would be used by the Bush administration as a pretext for launching an aggressive war against Iran, quite possibly with nuclear weapons, and for imposing a regime of martial law here in the United States. We call on the House of Representatives to proceed immediately to the impeachment of Cheney, as an urgent measure for avoiding a wider and more catastrophic war. Once impeachment has begun, it will be easier for loyal and patriotic military officers to refuse illegal orders coming from the Cheney faction. We solemnly warn the people of the world that any terrorist attack with weapons of mass destruction taking place inside the United States or elsewhere in the immediate future must be considered the prima facie responsibility of the Cheney faction. We urge responsible political leaders everywhere to begin at once to inoculate the public opinion of their countries against such a threatened false flag terror operation.

Leadership? What Leadership?

The controversy over who signed or didn’t sign this document, physically or electronically or by verbal proxy, has dominated most of the discussion ever since four apparent signatories (Jamilla El-Shafei, Cindy Sheehan, Dahlia Wasfi and Ann Wright) retracted their apparent support, claiming fraud but at the same time wishing the perpetrators of that alleged fraud well, in one of the most disingenuous and nonsensical denials ever written outside [?] the corridors of power:

Each of us were approached during the rally at the Kennebunkport event on August 25, 2007, to sign a statement calling for the immediate impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney. Since then, the statement has been altered and posted on the internet, making it appear as if we have evidence that this administration will carry out a “false-flag terror operation.”

None of us have such evidence, and therefore, none of us signed a statement stating that we do.

We wish the authors of the document well in continuing much needed investigations of all aspects of 9/11.

Are we really supposed to believe that they couldn’t have signed the statement because they didn’t have the evidence? Nobody who has ever signed anything can possibly believe that. You don’t need evidence to sign a statement; a pen will do nicely.

Even more disturbing: Why is the anti-war movement in the hands of people who cannot write the words false-flag terror without enclosing them in quotes?

The answer is clear, at least to me: It isn’t!! Maybe it used to be, but not anymore!! Their credibility is gone. Poof!

Their announcement was not the only disappointing part of the story. In my opinion this controversy has been handled poorly by almost everyone involved in it, and it has caused a huge loss of credibility for a large number of people — people who were supposed to be leaders of a dissident “community” which to this point has been a horrifyingly ineffective. I may find myself elaborating on this statement in a future post, but before I do that I have to spend some time thinking about this:

Nobody should be demoralized or disoriented by the void of leadership which this matter has revealed; it is rather time to fill that void.

Massive Evidence? What Massive Evidence?

The first two words of the Kennebunkport Warning are crucial: “Massive evidence”. In many places around the net, the same question has been raised: What “massive evidence”?

Webster Tarpley discusses the “massive evidence” mentioned in the Kennebunkport Warning:

There is a daily barrage of articles outlining the US war plan for Iran, reporting on how Cheney is pressing for air strikes against the Quds force of the Iranian Pasdaran. The Daily Kos has a report from an officer on an aircraft carrier in the Gulf which confirms that attacks are imminent. We know from Philip Giraldi in The American Conservative two years ago that the Cheney doctrine calls for a new 9/11, followed by air strikes against Iran. We know from Zbigniew Brzezinski’s testimony on Feb 1. before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that there is an active scenario for a terrorist act in the United States to be blamed on Iran. More recently, we have Chertoff’s gut feeling that a terror attack is imminent. What is there is the analysis offered by the Kennebunkport Warning that its critics find so offensive? Do they not see the danger of the wider war with Iran? Do they not believe Cheney would use false flag terrorist to get what he wants? If they cannot grasp these problems, they are simply not qualified to be taken seriously leaders of the antiwar movement under the grim conditions we face today.

As mentioned in a previous post, there’s a much more detailed compilation of the “massive evidence” here (and a mirror of it here).

Here’s a mirror of “Study: US preparing ‘massive’ military attack against Iran” (from Larisa Alexandrovna and Muriel Kane of Raw Story, original here).

And here’s a mirror of Tarpley’s article, “Cheney Determined to Strike in US with WMD this Summer“.

Reality Check

At 911Blogger dot com, Tarpley discusses al this and much much more, in a post reproduced here in full:

The Kennebunkport Reality Check:

The Danger of World War III is the Much Neglected Heart of the Matter

Most of the comments concerning the Kennebunkport Warning have avoided the main issue. The central point has nothing to do with any signatures or absence thereof. The key issue is whether the world strategic picture given by the Kennebunkport Warning is accurate or not. If the statement is true, as we firmly assert that it is, then the other issues can be seen in proper perspective, meaning that they are dwarfed by the threat of a world catastrophe.

If Cheney really is pressing for a new false flag terror provocation, to be followed by a nuclear attack on Iran and martial law in the US, then that fact certainly ought to command the attention of all thinking people. To duck such an issue would be despicable. Nobody with the vaguest notion of what is happening in the world can doubt that Cheney is doing this – it is written in the newspapers, it is written in the graffiti on the walls. At this point it becomes our duty to mobilize to the limit of our capacity to ward off such an immense evil. All the other questions are trivial by comparison. And you cannot be an antiwar leader and be an agnostic about this, claiming you simply do not know or that you do not understand the concept of false flag. If you choose that cop-out, what kind of a peace leader are you?

The Fear Factor

Naturally, the world described by the Kennebunkport Warning is a terrifying world. But our chances of survival will be better if we are able to face reality, rather than retreat into a dream-world of opinions, perceptions, and recriminations. This applies especially to those who claim to be antiwar leaders.

Reality is that the signers signed – the irrefutable, photographic, courtroom quality documentary proof is posted on the internet. In the light of this overwhelming evidence, it is understandable that most of the signers are reluctant to issue a flat denial that they ever signed. Rather, their denials are oblique and ambiguous doubletalk.

Adults Are Responsible For What They Sign

On the question of signing: under US law, if you are 21 years old and can read and write, if you put your name to something you are bound by it. If you sign it, you must accept the consequences. Your signature is your bond – ask anyone who has signed an adjustable rate mortgage lately. The only way you can get out of this is to prove that you are mentally defective, and nobody has tried that, so far.

Most of us were told by our parents that we should never sign anything unless we had read it carefully and considered it from every possible point of view. That is a very good maxim. We must assume that capable political leaders dealing with the life and death questions of war, peace, and martial law will pay close attention to anything that they are asked to sign. And the signers are serious political leaders who know what they are doing, are they not? Such people know very well that they must take responsibility for their own signatures, don’t they? Surely they cannot be in the habit of signing things without reading them. Considerations of this type lead us to us to the most embarrassing doubts about their competence and seriousness.

It is also worth noting that verbal contracts are valid in almost all states, as long as they cover the main points at issue — such as a commitment to sign a statement in token of political support. Anyone who recalls the Texaco-Pennzoil case, when the fate of about ten billion dollars was sealed by a verbal contract knows this. It would be foolhardy for people in politics and government to ignore such matters.

Anyone who has ever organized support for a statement knows how such a process works. You get a bunch of copies of the statement. You go to a gathering and hand out the copies. You buttonhole influential people and urge them to read the statement, evaluate it, and then sign it. Anyone who signs something under such circumstances knows that as mature adults they must take responsibility for their own signature. The organizer cannot subject the signers to hours of psychiatric depth analysis to determine their mental state, or to establish whether they have fully grasped each detail of the statement. There is no way to bring a notary along. They are professional politicians, are they not? One or two are or have been candidates for important federal offices. Surely in their official capacities they plan to read things before they sign them, since they are sure to be held responsible. Otherwise, they will be a laughingstock. They knew exactly what they were signing and, if they deny it, they are unfortunately lying. Anyone who talks of forgery or trickery in gathering these signatures is compounding that lying with slander.

The Kennebunkport Warning is a statement of about a dozen lines. Any normal person can read it and grasp the main points in less than a minute. Nobody can be rushed or stampeded into signing something like this, because it is so brief. It is not an appropriations bill of 1,000 pages.

We cannot avoid the delicate question of cointelpro, the domestic sabotage and wrecking activities of the intelligence agencies. A current news item relates that the FBI spied on Coretta Scott King after the assassination of Martin Luther King. The reason was that J. Edgar Hoover feared that Mrs. King might continue her late husband’s efforts to unite the anti-Vietnam War movement with the civil rights movement. The Kennebunkport Warning attempts to do something similar: its entire logic is to unite the peace, impeachment, and anti-globalization and other movements on a platform which would be independent of the Democratic and Republican Parties, which would no longer be crippled by a single-issue focus, and which would acquire the decisive power of 9/11 truth. The intelligence community of our time is well aware of the vast potential that would be unleashed by such a convergence. This is the eventuality they are intent on preventing. So nobody should be surprised to see counter-organizing in general, or to see the individual signers of such a statement quickly leaned on, squeezed, intimidated, threatened, or otherwise counter-organized. How could it be otherwise? Under Reagan’s Executive Order 12333, many of the functions of the Cold War intelligence community were privatized into fronts and especially into foundations. Many foundations must thus be considered as tentacles of the intelligence community. The role of foundations in funding the peace movement and some of its leading activists is an immense factor of impotence and corruption. One such leader has commented: “I can’t say anything about 9/11 – I might lose my funding!” Well, the Kennebunkport Warning does talk about 9/11, and that may be the rub.

Is Cheney Pressing For a Wider War Via False Flag Ops, Or Not?

This brings us back to the issue of whether the Kennebunkport Warning gives an accurate picture of today’s world. We maintain that it does, and that it is true independently of who signs it or does not sign it. Those who have never learned to take responsibility for their own signatures will now fall by the wayside. But those who remain committed to operating in the real world as it exists independent of signatures or non-signatures must now redouble their efforts of mobilization to stop the Cheney neocon faction. Nobody should be demoralized or disoriented by the void of leadership which this matter has revealed; it is rather time to fill that void. We call on all persons and organizations of good will everywhere in the world to support the Kennebunkport Warning. We appeal to them to endorse it, to post it, to sign it, to publish it, and to recruit new signers as fast as they possibly can.

www.actindependent.org

Although I find Tarpley’s writing a bit over-the-top at times, and although the Kennebunkport Warning infuriates me by claiming to have massive evidence without even offering a single link to support its claim (as if it were written in a world without hypertext), nonetheless the main points of the Warning are clear and irrefutable, in my opinion.

How could I possibly disagree? I’ve spent the last three years documenting the very things it talks about! 9/11 was an inside job. The GWOT is bogus. There’s a mad drive for war with Iran. The federal government has been preparing for the eventuality of martial law. Another false flag attack here is certainly not beyond the realm of possibility — the hints are everywhere! The neocon columnists are busy trying to convince us all that it would be a good thing, and Dick Cheney’s fingerprints are to be found everywhere in this mad dash for world dominion.

What can we do about it? Tarpley’s right: It’s time to fill the leadership void.

We need credible spokesmen who can spell “false flag terror” without the quotes.

We need writers who know enough to provide links to their sources — especially in a document intended for worldwide distribution.

We need thinkers who can deal with peace, impeachment, anti-globalization and other topics, who can function outside the false dichotomy of the the Democratic and Republican Parties and who can refute the fictions they endorse.

We need leaders who are not crippled by a single-issue focus, and who can promote the decisive power of 9/11 truth.

Is there anybody out there who meets this description? If so, let him step forward. At the very least he should start a blog, or something.

What’s Not To Like About A General Strike?

What are YOU doing on September 11th? May I suggest something?

The vast potential of the American people still lies untapped. The time has come to unleash it. The technique is well-known in most foreign countries, though not here. But it’s actually quite simple. It’s called a General Strike.

When I say “General Strike”, I mean it’s for all of us. You don’t have to be a General to take part.

But what is it against? That’s up to each of us.

It can be against Torture, against the War in Iraq, against the 9/11 Coverup, against False Flag Terror in general, against the shredding of the Bill of Rights, against the destruction of our Electoral System, against the privatization of America’s military, against the corruption of our Mainstream Media, against a regime powered by multi-million dollar “Public Diplomacy” campaigns, against rampant anti-democratic Globalization, against rule by Secrecy and Lies, against unlimited warrantless Surveillance… It can be against any or all of these things, and many more.

But it can’t be against everything!
It also needs to be for something — more than one thing, if possible. We could do it for our Children, we could do it for our Country, we could do it for Humanity, we could do it for Peace, we could do it for Justice, we could do it for 9/11 Truth, we could do for Truth in Media, we could do it for habeas corpus, we could do it for the Bill of Rights… We could do it for any or all of these reasons, and many others.

If you can’t think of a reason, do it for me! Make yourself a sign that says “Google Winter Patriot” and carry it around with you on the 11th of September. Why not?

I’m just kidding, of course. But we need to keep spreading vital truths to people who don’t have enough. We need to get visible. We need to see how many of us there are. And we need to make a statement, even if that statement is only “We’ve had enough!”

It doesn’t have to be fancy. It doesn’t have to be complicated. We don’t need to converge on Washington. Not yet, anyway. At the moment we can make more impact elsewhere. We can actually make the most impact without going anywhere.

This is not about travel. It’s about gridlock. What if we all stop working? What if we all stop going to school? What if none of us spends a nickel? Do you think anyone would notice? Of course they would.

Would it hurt us? Sure. But in the long run it might do us more good than harm.

When I say “this is not about travel”, I’m not saying we should all stay home.

If you can get to Washington, that’s great. You’ll have company.

If you can get to New York City, that might be even better. The sight of 9/11 Truth taking over Ground Zero has inspired a lot of good work. It would be great to be part of it this year.

But if you can’t get to DC or NY, that’s fine too. If you can get to your state capital, head for the government buildings. Otherwise just go downtown.

Wear orange. Be seen.

Carry a sign: “Peace Through Justice“. “Inside Job“. “Stop The War“. “Paper Ballots, Hand Counted“. “Google Winter Patriot“. Or whatever.

We need to get active, and get visible, and watch our numbers grow. And we need to think about doing it again … soon … for as long as necessary.

We’ll never know what can happen until we try. And if we don’t try, we don’t deserve to live in a free country. In my opinion, if we don’t try, we deserve to live in Iraq! Surely the Iraqis don’t deserve it. So let’s see what we can do to stop the war … at the very least.

You can read more at strike911.org and/or truthaction.org.

You can find out what’s happening in your area here.

If you know of other sites that might be useful in organizing ourselves, please post the URLs here. As always, I thank you for your cooperation.

Oh yeah; I almost forgot: I was only partly kidding about the sign. It doesn’t have to say “Google Winter Patriot”. But you do need a sign.

Your sign can protect you from the heat-ray weapon the Pentagon calls “Active Denial“.  Click here before you build it.

One final, personal, note, if I may: This is not something we can or should do out of hate, or anger, or fear. Surely we all feel anger and fear, and many of us feel hate. That’s ok in my view. Considering the circumstances, that’s entirely understandable. But that’s not what this is about. And it won’t help us build anything useful, either.

In my humble opinion, Stephen Stills had it right 35 or 40 years ago. He put it this way:

You know we got to do it, we got to keep on keeping on
‘Cause if we don’t do it, nobody else is gonna.
But you know if we can’t do it with a smile on our face,
You know if we can’t do it with love in our hearts,
Then, children, we ain’t got no right to do it at all.
‘Cause that just means we ain’t learned nothin’ yet,
And we’re supposed to be some kind of different.

Throw Up And Go To Sleep: Why There Are No Paranoid Lunatic Conspiracy Theorists

On one hand you’ve got this “election integrity” thing — not a “coalition” or a “movement” but an illness, a dementia, really: all these paranoid lunatics who say our elections aren’t free and fair just because they’re run on machines that give the voter no way to verify that his vote was counted correctly, without leaving a paper trail, only totals tabulated by secret software that can easily be hacked, and because millions of people are illegally prevented from voting, and millions of other votes aren’t even counted, and blah blah blah.

Look, I’m sorry but I can’t listen to it anymore; it puts me to sleep.

On the other hand you’ve got these “9/11 truth” conspiracy theorists who say “the twin towers didn’t collapse, they disintegrated” and “the NIST report calls itself a whitewash with its ‘low probability of occurrence’ nonsense” and “the FBI has no evidence implicating Osama bin Laden in the attacks of 9/11″ and all sorts of other cheap-shots against the victims and their families. How disgraceful can you get?

Then they turn around and ask hateful and irrelevant questions like “Why did the President just sit there and listen to those kids read?” and “Where was the Air Force when all this was happening?” and they just go on and on and on. It’s been going on for almost six years now and I can’t listen to another word of it.

How could anyone be so unpatriotic? Can you imagine? It makes me want to throw up.

You would think, if you were inclined to think at all, that these two rabid and radical nut-bar fringe groups would fit together, so to speak. In other words, you would expect to see a lot of paranoid lunatic conspiracy theorists. But you don’t…
…or at least I don’t.

Look at this!

The text at the bottom may be hard to read: it says

DEMAND: Impeachment & Treason Trials | End The War | Restore The Bill Of Rights | A New 9/11 Investigation

Quite a laundry list, don’t you think? We could talk about this insanity for a long time. But here’s the key question: Do you see anything here about elections?

Of course not! All this “General Strike” nonsense comes from from conspiracy theorists.

I know! it makes you sick to your stomach, doesn’t it? But hang on! — just for the sake of discussion, have a look at this picture.

Look closely. The people who designed these buttons are paranoid lunatics, but they’re not conspiracy theorists. You can see that, can’t you?

It’s not hard to see that, in fact it’s hard not to see it, because we’ve come to expect it. But my question today is a more interesting one:

Why?

Why are there no paranoid lunatic conspiracy theorists? In other words, why don’t we see “Election Integrity” and “9/11 Truth” in the same place?

I think I know the answer.

~~~
Say what you like about the paranoid lunatics; they’re not stupid. At least some of them aren’t. They know their paranoid lunacy is not reality so they shy away from anything that might “tarnish” what they call their “credibility”. They stick to known facts rather than wild speculation, and rightly so, in my opinion.
In other words it’s a known fact that electronic voting machines can be hacked; that’s been proven by Ivy League scientists and everything. It’s solid. There’s no conspiracy theory about it. This is fundamental, and decisive; some would say divisive. In any case, it’s completely different from all the ridiculous conspiracy theories about the Islamo-Fascist terrorist attacks of 9/11, 7/7, and so on.
The conspiracy nuts aren’t gonna like this, because it blows all their half-baked theories out of the water, but recently unreleased documents confirm it was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who scheduled more than a dozen simultaneous US Air Force wargames for the very day of 9/11, thus stripping the Eastern Seaboard of its air defenses. He did it by cellphone from a cave in Afghanistan, using a codebook found by an al-Q’aeda operative on a bus in Switzerland. The CIA has just confirmed all this based on records from a wireless server they impounded from an internet cafe in the Hindu Kush.
Or at least that’s what they say. The actual details of the calls themselves are redacted for national security reasons.  But it sounds reasonable to me. I couldn’t read the source document, even if it were unclassified — I haven’t got time, and it’s probably in Urdu anyway.
More to the point, would the CIA lie about something like this? I don’t think so, unless it were a part of an official disinformation campaign, and as I understand it they don’t do those anymore, because disinformation campaigns are now categorized as unofficial.
So that’s it! And I’m glad it’s settled, because that was the only remaining question; by now I think it’s pretty well accepted — even among the most rabid wackos on the frothing fringe of the increasingly gullible conspiracy community — that Osama bin Laden personally appointed Philip Zelikow to head the independent investigation after Henry Kissinger recused himself in order to pursue less lucrative but more patriotic service opportunities. So that pretty much settles it, unless I’ve missed something.
Of course it doesn’t really matter whether I’ve missed anything or not, because the conspiracy theorists will surely come up with something else; they always do. Can you believe it? Next they’ll be claiming important events have been reported before they even happened.
But it’s all hogwash, demented hogwash from demented conspiratorial minds, and even the paranoid lunatics want nothing to do with them. I wouldn’t either.
To their credit, the conspiracy theorists are smart enough to avoid being associated with the paranoid lunatics, and this, too, is perfectly understandable, I think.
If you were a conspiracy theorist trying to drum up popular support for a laundry-list of ridiculous, treasonous  demands — a hard-left pro-terrorist manifesto, as it were — would you include any word or phrase that fairly screamed out “PARANOID LUNATICS HERE”?
I wouldn’t either, and it’s a good thing too, because if all the paranoid lunatics and all the conspiracy theorists ever got out in the streets together — on September 11, 2007, for example — it just might encourage them to stay a while.
And that would be very bad, both for America and for me personally.
It would be bad for America for many reasons but primarily because it would show the American people how widespread mental illness is in this country, and how common delusional thinking has become. It might also give them dangerous ideas about the power of the government and the consent of the governed and possible relations between the two.
It would also be bad for me personally, because I’m a news-hound. I read several short news articles per week, and I’m afraid if there were a big, long general strike by a coalition of paranoid lunatics and conspiracy theorists, the media would start covering them. And if I ever read about paper ballots and false flag terror in the mainstream media, I know I’m gonna throw up and go to sleep.
Normally, I don’t like writing about myself and my own personal reactions to things, but in this case it’s “fitting and proper”, as Abe Lincoln would say …  because what’s bad for me personally … is bad for America!
How To Stop The Next War Before It Starts
If I were King for a Day, I’d issue a Royal Decree instructing all my Subjects to read Arthur Silber’s three-part series, “Dispatch from Germany, Summer of 1939”.
Parts I and II provide essential background, but here I want to focus on Part III, which carries the subtitle “Building an Effective Resistance”.
“Regime change” in Iran has been an essential part of this administration’s plan for “rearranging” the Middle East from the beginning; the origins of this plan date back to the 1990s. In many ways, Iran has always been the primary goal. Iraq was supposed to represent the “low-hanging fruit” — the easy victory that would provide a critical staging ground for the much more important target.
All the events of recent months support only the conclusion that Iran remains the essential target: from the movements of carriers into the Middle East, to the unceasing and increasingly bellicose statements, to the identification of Iran as the reason for our failure in Iraq — all of it supports only one conclusion.
Two or three years hence, no one will be happier than I to look back on this time and laugh about how worried we were about what turned out to be nothing in the end. […] That is not a chance I am willing to take. Even if my assessment should turn out to be completely wrong, the steps suggested below would be wonderfully good practice, in the awful event that an equally maniacal administration should hold power in the future. It would be enormously useful and comforting to know that an effective force of resistance can be built to check the mad ambitions of those who hold the reins of power.
Oh, yes! Useful and comforting indeed, if it can be done.
The question — the big question — some would say the only question — is: HOW?
Arthur Silber’s ideas seem useful, so I want to pass them along. I also want you to read the whole piece — or the whole series! — but I know there’s a good chance you won’t do it, so here for your consideration is a quick summary of Silber’s message.
Two fundamental guidelines should be kept in mind all the time:
1. The criminal and immoral nature of an attack on Iran in the present circumstances and in the foreseeable future must be identified and stated with all the force imaginable, without qualification, in virtually every interview, every television appearance, and every news story that any politician (or any other public figure) takes part in, beginning tomorrow. THE INSANITY AND CRIMINALITY OF SUCH AN ATTACK MUST BE MADE NATIONAL TOPIC NUMBER ONE, UNTIL THIS ADMINISTRATION FULLY AND COMPLETELY DISAVOWS ANY AND ALL SUCH INTENTIONS AND PLANS — AND UNTIL THE MAGNITUDE OF PUBLIC OPPOSITION CONVINCES US THAT THEY MEAN IT.
2. In every statement about an attack on Iran, no opponent of this administration can accept any of the terms of debate chosen by the administration. Such opponents must argue on completely different terms. If you argue within the framework they prefer to any extent at all, you will lose — and the next global war may begin.
Silber gives examples of what these principles should look like in practice; you can find the details here.
What can we do with them? That depends on our individual situations, but surely we can all do some of the following:
Jonathan Schwarz outlined several actions you can take a few weeks ago. Those are all very good ideas, and you should do what Jon suggests if you care about this issue. But I also think those actions are not nearly enough.
ONE: If I had the money, I would take out full-page ads in the leading national newspapers — at a minimum, in the NYT, the Washington Post, and the LA Times. The major focus of the ads would be the explanation of why an attack on Iran by the United States directly or by proxy (via Israel) in the present circumstances would be a criminal war of aggression, and a blatant violation of basic precepts of international law, including the Nuremberg Principles.
TWO: Contact your Senators and Representatives, and demand that they take the actions I outlined here. Two of those are absolutely required: they must rescind both Authorization for the Use of Military Force resolutions, the one passed immediately after 9/11 and the one on Iraq. The Bush administration uses the AUMFs as the “justification” to launch any war of aggression of its choice, while they simultaneously use them to destroy our remaining liberties here at home. Wipe the AUMFs off the books.
THREE: Tell every politician, Democratic or Republican, that they must stop repeating the Bush administration propaganda on Iran. Above all, they must stop saying that “all options are on the table,” which in this context can only refer to a threat to launch an unprovoked war against Iran.
FOUR: Contact every politician you know who appears on television or gives newspaper interviews, and tell them they must be sure to explain briefly in every appearance they make why an attack on Iran at present would be a monstrous crime. IN EVERY APPEARANCE.
FIVE: Talk to everyone you can, at work, in your family, among friends, and at social gatherings. Explain the issues to them in a way that is appropriate for the relationship and the occasion, and urge them to take all these actions themselves. Explain briefly why this might be the most important battle they will ever fight.
SIX: If you are a writer well-known to any extent at all (and even if you’re not well-known, in which case you can contact your local paper), write several op-eds on this subject, and submit them to every newspaper you can.
The major goals here are to educate, to lead, and to motivate a critical number of Americans to take action themselves.
Your cold correspondent supports these goals entirely, and hopes this post will help to bring them closer.
Does it seem futile? Futile is over if you want it. In other words, maybe one voice won’t really make much difference, but what if we all started doing it?
It’s not so hard to do something like this if you know where to start. So I’m giving you two good starting points:
Here’s the House of Representatives. You can find your Representative using the search box at the top left corner.
And here’s the Senate. You have two Senators and you cand find them using the box at the top right corner.
As noted, the preceding has been a very brief summary of a thoughtful and detailed post. Please read the original.
Thanks to Arthur Silber for a great website and to Chris Floyd for the pointer.
‘Mixed Reviews’ For Bush’s Health Care Cuts? What BS!
Your nearly frozen correspondent got a bit warm above the clavicles while reading Christopher Lee and Lori Montgomery in the Washington Post on this fine cold Sunday morning.
They were selling a piece of obvious fiction called  “Bush’s Proposed Health-Care Cuts Get Mixed Reviews” and saying things like:
Depending on whom you ask, the budget that President Bush proposed last week will save or sink Medicare and Medicaid, two popular programs that, along with Social Security, threaten to swamp the federal budget as the baby-boom generation retires.
And I was thinking: BS!! BFS!! It’s the MF Pentagon and the BS tax cuts for the filthy rich that threaten to swamp the bloody federal budget! Of all the despicable bloody BS!
It’s the GWOT — a BSWOBST at that !! — that’s eating up our bloody budget, you loony MF stooges, that and George MF BS Bush’s signature act of treason: wartime tax cuts! These are the things that threaten to swamp the bloody MF federal budget!
But no! That’s not right either!! These two things have already swamped the bloody MF BS federal budget, you bloody F BS-mongers! And it’s all part of a comprehensive, long-term, mostly-secret and thoroughly evil plan that you would be mentioning right now if you had any…
Don’t get me started. Just think of Grover MF Norquist and his vicious MF BS about shrinking the government till you can drown it in a bathtub
Now think of Karl BS Rove and his favorite tactic: truth by inversion. How hard would it be for Karl BS Rove to come up with a diabolical MF plan to shrink the federal government by spending scads of money … by pouring it right into the pockets of the people who put him in office in the first place?
It wouldn’t take long for a slick-talking sociopath like George MF BS Bush to sell that plan to the fat and bloody ignorant American MF public, using a campaign which — irony of ironies — targets one of the groups it hurts the most: mid- to low-income Evangelical Christians with undiagnosed Cranial Rectal Disorder!
Bush, citing the need for fiscal responsibility, proposed reducing by $101 billion over five years the spending growth of the two health programs, which serve 93 million people and will cost the government $564 billion this year.
And well it should be MF controversial, you bloody MF AH scribblers! Where are the real reporters? Imagine writing about George MF BS Bush “citing the need for fiscal responsibility” without a historical comment! That’s the perfect place for a little historical context, eh what?
After six years of not being able to pronounce “fiscal responsibility” — much less spell it — the twice-unelected so-called president, now pretending to work with a bunch of spineless donkeys in Congress, discovers “fiscal responsibility” for the very first time, decides the sick and elderly will bear the brunt of it, and maneuvers to place the blame for this outrageous travesty at least partially on the newly elected donkeys.
BS! BFS! When does this MF BS stop? When do we get to see a bloody donkey who’s willing to kick up his furry little hind legs and say ENOUGH!! All this robbing from the poor and giving to the rich has got to stop RIGHT NOW!!
And what has happened to the merest shred of fairness in reporting? Look at what passes for “balance” in the next paragraph:
Budget experts call the plan one of the most significant efforts in years to rein in federal spending on entitlement programs. But health-care providers and advocates for beneficiaries call the proposed cuts arbitrary and say they would exact an unaffordable toll on a big part of the nation’s health-care system.
Did you notice how finely-crafted that first sentence is? It doesn’t threaten Ming pottery, but listen: Who could argue with budget experts? Is anyone against significant efforts? Who wouldn’t want to rein in federal spending? And entitlement programs certainly have a bad name in the CMSM lately, so in fact every phrase in that sentence was heavily loaded.
On the other hand, it says here the cuts would be arbitrary and they would exact a toll on a big part of the nation’s health-care system.
The nation’s health care system? What about the people? What about the bloody F people? Get out of here with your weak BS, you MF scoundrels! Toll on the system my sweet MFA!!
Some day, hopefully soon, the middle- to low-income Evangelical Christians — who have nothing really, other than their doctor bills and their pharmacy bills and their kids — will finally look up and see the cheap sleazy MF scoundrels they’ve put in office getting ready to start another war, and they will tremble. Or if they don’t, they should.
Because soon their kids will find out that there are no MF jobs and there is no chance of bringing in any more MF jobs (jobs? no, sorry! American jobs outsourced! sorry, Americans! global progress!!)
And there won’t be any unemployment or job-training or welfare or health-care (entitlements? sorry! we had to rein in the federal budget!) and they’ll soon find out that their only viable economic options involve choosing one of the various ways in which they can risk their lives in some Godforsaken country whose name they cannot even pronounce, let alone spell. And that’ll be that!
The only jobs left will be temporary till-death-do-us-part gigs in the Front Row of the Empire, where their kids — and your kids, and mine — will patrol the perimeter as professional pawns in the endless, pointless and mostly bogus generational struggle against the demonized other — the nameless, faceless, and ultimately invincible enemy which the vicious lying warmongering Fisto-Crashists like to call islamofascism.
They have to say that; it’s the only way they can do Empire without a Draft.
And they’ll win the hearts and minds as well as the warm bodies of all the mid- and low-income Evangelical Christians with undiagnosed Cranial Rectal Disorder, right along with all the other warm bodies they need, because whether or not we’re all gung-ho about the Holy Bogus Imperative of wiping out Monolithic Global Islamofascism, we all have to eat, don’t we?
And if there are no other MF jobs, that’ll be because these vicious MF BS-mongers have been shipping them out of the country ever since they started implementing their long-term plan to turn our more-or-less moderate democratic republic into a totalitarian military-police state.
But there’s still no bloody MF money, and it’s BS to blame it on entitlements. The secret — the open but deadly and therefore mostly unspoken secret — is that there’s no bloody MF money because your friends and your relatives and your neighbors and your co-workers, and all the stupid MF people you honk at and swear at every day on your way to work — and all the people they know and love and work with and swear at, and so on, and on and on — all those people bought all that BS!
And they sat on their couch and watched NASCAR or they went down to the corner for a beer or they did a thousand and one other things, and while nobody but the Fisto-Crashists were paying attention, our collective future was stolen right out from under our noses, in broad daylight — on television, even!
And now, Little Georgie — Little Georgie MF BS Bush — wants all the MF money this suddenly-BS country can borrow, just to pay for his Excellent Adventures. And we’re getting it in the MF ear — again! — from the GD WP, which IMVHO no longer deserves the privilege of using my MF initials.
What BS! It’s no wonder I’m getting a little warm above the clavicles.
And that’s putting it mildly!
Are You With Us Or Against Us?
The Editors at The Whispering Campaign have finally gotten off their butts and written something of their own. Usually they publish excerpts or condensed versions of material that’s published elsewhere, but this time they’ve done something a little bit different.
Please have a look at the short document they have posted, and if you agree with it please print some copies and pass it on.
Here’s the link: Are You With Us Or Against Us?
And here’s a quote:
Secrecy and deceit are the hallmarks of our government. They hide the truth whenever they can and the rest of the time they lie about it. The “news media” let them get away with it to an astonishing degree.
We’d better do something, and we’d better do it soon!
Are you with us or against us?
Knowledge Is Power! Pass It On!!
‘Amazing’ Progress: Death Squads Spreading In Iraq!
Presidential bullshit notwithstanding, there is no “amazing” progress going on in Iraq, unless you happen to favor clandestine rule by Death Squad.
We’re not supposed to know about all this: that’s covered by something called “perception management”.
But this cat seems to have got out of the bag!
In his his most recent so-called major speech on Iraq, the so-called president said:
We will help the Iraqi people lay the foundations of a strong democracy that can govern itself, sustain itself, and defend itself. And by laying the foundations of freedom in Iraq, we will lay the foundation of peace for generations to come.
And maybe I’m a bit short-sighted or something, but I find it impossible to imagine how the foundation of peace for generations to come can be built by roving squads of kidnappers, torturers, and cold-blooded killers. Chris Floyd seems to have the same problem:
The recent revelations about the virulent spread of death squads ravaging Iraq have only confirmed for many people the lethal incompetence of the Bush Regime, whose brutal bungling appears to have unleashed the demon of sectarian strife in the conquered land. The general reaction, even among some war supporters, has been bitter derision: “Jeez, these bozos couldn’t boil an egg without causing collateral damage.”
But what if the truth is even more sinister? What if this murderous chaos is not the fruit of rank incompetence but instead the desired product of carefully crafted, efficiently managed White House policy?
What do you know about the Death Squads which are making such “amazing” progress in Iraq?
Who do you think they are?
How do you think they got started?
I’ll give you four links. Four different points of view; all good-to-excellent articles in my humble and slightly frozen opinion. I’ll include a brief passage from each article but I encourage you to click the links and read the originals:
Death Mask: The Deliberate Disintegration of Iraq by Chris Floyd:
We first reported here in June 2003 that the U.S. was already hiring Saddam’s security muscle for “special ops” against the nascent insurgency and re-opening his torture haven, Abu Ghraib. Meanwhile, powerful Shiite militias – including Talibanic religious extremists armed and trained by Iran – were loosed upon the land. As direct “Coalition” rule gave way to various “interim” and “elected” Iraqi governments, these violent gangs were formally incorporated into the Iraqi Interior Ministry, where the supposedly inimical Sunni and Shiite units often share officers and divvy up territories.
Bush helpfully supplied these savage gangs – who are killing dozens of people each week, Knight-Ridder reports – with American advisers who made their “counter-insurgency” bones forming right-wing death squads in Colombia and El Salvador. Indeed, Bush insiders have openly bragged of “riding with the bad boys” and exercising the “Salvador option,” lauding the Reagan-backed counter-insurgency program that slaughtered tens of thousands of civilians, Newsweek reports. Bush has also provided a “state-of-the-art command, control and communications center” to coordinate the operation of his Iraqi “commandos,” as the Pentagon’s own news site, DefendAmerica, reports. The Iraqi people can go without electricity, fuel and medicine, but by God, Bush’s “bad boys” will roll in clover as they carry out their murders and mutilations.
For months, stories from the Shiite south and Sunni center have reported the same phenomenon: people being summarily seized by large groups of armed men wearing police commando uniforms, packing high-priced Glocks, using sophisticated radios and driving Toyota Land Cruisers with police markings. The captives are taken off and never seen again – unless they turn up with a load of other corpses days or weeks later, bearing marks of the gruesome tortures they suffered before the ritual shot in the head. Needless to say, these mass murders under police aegis are rarely investigated by the police.
Earlier this year, one enterprising Knight-Ridder reporter, Yasser Salihee, actually found several eyewitnesses willing to testify to the involvement of the U.S.-backed commandos in 12 such murders. The offer was shrugged off by the Interior Ministry’s spokesman – an American “adviser” and veteran bones-maker from the Colombian ops. In the end, it didn’t matter; Salihee was shot dead by a U.S. sniper at a checkpoint a few days afterwards.
I urge you to read the entire piece, when you’re through with this one. It’s beautifully written, extremely well-documented. Click on Chris’ links for an education you won’t soon forget.
At least that’s what happened to me. Here’s my biggest problem: I can’t forget.
Mike Whitney seems to have the same problem. He refers to Chris Floyd’s work in his recent column, “Riding with the Bad Boys”: The rise of Iraqi death squads
The New York Times confirmed today that the “Iraqi (security) forces are carrying out executions in predominantly Sunnis neighborhoods.” Hundreds of men have been taken from taken from their homes by men in Iraqi uniforms and either “found dead in ditches or fields, with bullet holes to their temples, acid burns to their skin, and holes in their bodies apparently made by electrical drills. Many have simply vanished”. (Dexter Filkins, “Sunnis accuse Iraqi Military of Kidnappings and Slayings” NY Times)
The Times merely reiterates what has been echoing through internet for some time now, that the Iraqi Interior Ministry is using lethal force to undercut the Sunni-led resistance and terrorize the public. The plan was first uncovered in an article by Seymour Hersh in January 2005. Hersh reported that the Pentagon was intending to trigger “The Salvador Option”; a strategy which involves the training of “death squads” to execute a bloody secret war against “alleged” insurgents.
“Do you remember the right-wing execution squads in El Salvador?” one official asked Hersh. “We founded them and we financed them. The objective now is to recruit locals in any area we want.”
The genocidal attacks reported by the New York Times are the predictable upshot of a process that was initiated by the Pentagon to destroy the Iraqi resistance through violence alone.
The death squads and the intentional destruction of the Sunni heartland comprise the first two parts of the three-pronged strategy to defeat the Iraqi resistance. The final leg on the stool is the propaganda war that is being directed against the American people to conceal the details of the military’s war crimes.
Yes, concealing the details of the war crimes, that’s very important. It’s so important that we can’t let them get away with it!
No matter how hard they try. And they will try very very hard. The prospect of concealing their crimes is, after all, their only hope. Robert Parry has more on this, and much else, in his most recent article, Bush in Iraq, Slouching Toward Genocide:
For his part, Bush reiterated that he will only be satisfied with “complete victory,” which suggests he is resolved to break the back of the Sunni resistance at whatever cost.
The Bush administration also wants to keep a tight hold on information that might put the U.S. war effort in a negative light. That means the American people can expect to be shielded from many of the worst secrets in Iraq, much as the White House has continued to fight release of video showing abuses at Abu Ghraib and other U.S.-run prisons in Iraq.
According to U.S. military experts I’ve interviewed, a great deal of emphasis in the future will be on “perception management,” the concept of shaping how both Iraqis and the American people perceive the events in Iraq.
This media manipulation, combined with secretive “death squads,” adds even more to the recipe necessary for war-time atrocities that might cross over into genocide.
Chris Floyd calls Bob Parry a “wise man”, by the way.
Takes one to know one, I’d say.
Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying Bob Harris more and more lately, and he has a good recent piece on all this as well. Bob often says what I’m thinking, and in this case he [also] focuses for a while on the word “amazing” [isn’t that amazing?] but then he gets around to what so many of us must be thinking: “Death squads” in the Iraqi police:
To those who repeat the current GOP spin that opponents of the war are motivated by a hatred of Bush or a desire to see America disgraced, I would like to respond:
I can speak for no one else, but it seems obvious to me that it is the war which disgraces America. It is the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people which disgraces America. It is torture which disgraces America. It is imprisonment without trial which disgraces America. It is the use of chemical weapons which disgraces America. It is disdain for international law, the use of military power as a first resort, the intentional confusion of the Iraqi people with terrorists thousands of miles away in Afghanistan, and the corruption of the very word “democracy” which all disgrace America.
As an opponent of the war, I am trying to stop my country from being disgraced any further.
Pardon me? Disgraced any further? How could our so-called “leaders” disgrace us any further? More death squads? More torture chambers? More “perception management”?
Eternal darkness is upon us.
And it truly is “amazing”.
Read ’em and weep, my friends.
Cindy Sheehan is at the plate
Up all night, I could not sleep
the whiskey that I drank was cheap
with shakin’ hands I went and I lit up my last cigarette
This song — South City Midnight Lady by The Doobie Brothers — always runs through my mind in times like these — after another sleepless night during a time of crisis. And it makes sense, in a way, but it’s also a bit odd, because I really don’t like the tune all that much. I much prefer Clear As The Driven Snow, which doesn’t present itself in times of crisis the way South City Midnight Lady does. On the other hand, maybe it should.
I keep rollin’, I keep rollin’, I keep rollin’ and I can’t stop, rollin’ and I can’t stop, it’s drivin’ me out of my mind
I have some good news for you: for the first time in a long time, I’m not promoting anything! I’m not even linking to anything, I’m just riffing. If it turns out to be worth reading, that’s great. And if not, that’s ok too, right? I mean: we’re all adults here, and you can read as much of me as you want before you click on something else, no?
Ok, then. Meet me on the other side … if you dare!
::flip::
Here’s another lyric that comes up at the strangest times. From one of my all-time favorite sloppy-but-wonderful long-haired wild-eyed three-quarters-crazy guitar-heroes, Alvin Lee of Ten Years After
I’d Love To Change The World
Everywhere is freaks and hairies, dykes and fairies;
Tell me where is sanity ?
Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more.
I’d love to change the world – but I don’t know what to do,
So I’ll leave it up to you.
Population – keeps on breeding, nation bleeding,
Still more feeding economy.
Life is funny, skies are sunny, bees make honey,
Who needs money ? Monopoly !
I’d love to change the world – but I don’t know what to do,
So I’ll leave it up to you….Oh yeah,
World pollution, there’s no solution, institution, electrocution,
Just black and white, rich or poor, them and us,
We’ll stop the war !
I’d love to change the world – but I don’t know what to do,
So I’ll leave it up to you….and Good Luck!
Truly, I didn’t come here intending to post rock lyrics, but sometimes that’s how things start. I mostly wanted to talk about Cindy Sheehan and the energy that is coming to a sharp focus around her. I never thought I’d see this happen.
Seriously.
I’m a baseball fan. Or at least I was. And I played a lot of ball [cf & ss, mostly. good glove, no stick]. So I know
it’s one, two, three strikes you’re out
and the honest truth is: I thought I had seen a swinging strike, a cut and a miss, for the third out of the ninth inning.
I really thought we were done for.
But maybe we’re not.
Maybe it was a foul tip, and maybe the catcher didn’t hold it.
--------
The first strike came when I was just a kid.
The candle burned out long before the legend ever did.
No, sorry, Elton. I wasn’t thinking about MM — at least not directly. For me, the first strike was the public execution of JFK. I was too young to understand the implications at the time, but now I understand things a little bit better.
More public executions followed less than five years later. MLK and RFK about two months apart.
boom! boom! out went the lights
And the first “out” was on the board.
--------
Things looked awful. But we were still at bat, and somehow we started hitting the ball. Nixon got turfed out of office and the war eventually got stopped and it actually seemed that we might get to keep batting for a while.
And things bumped along for a while, we had a lot of tough at-bats but we hung in there, got hit by a few pitches and got a few lucky breaks, and we made it into a new millenium with still just that one solitary out on the board.
But then things started to go sour, fast.
Strike one: the theft of the 2000 presidential election.
Strike two: the success of 9/11, which I have described elsewhere as “the blackest op of all”.
Strike three: the execution of Paul Wellstone and his family.
--------
Wow. That was fast. Bang Bang Bang Go Siddown! Two out now, and we’re in deep trouble.
Those were powerful and unexpected strikes. And this is the late Lowell George of Little Feat
Trouble
you yelled “hey” when your car wouldn’t start
then you got real nervous and started to eat your heart out
now you’re so fat your shoes don’t fit on your feet
you’ve got trouble and it’s tailor-made
now mama lay your head down in the shade
’cause your eyes are tired and your feet are too
and you wish the world was as tired as you
well I’ll write a letter and I’ll send it away
and put all the trouble in it you had today
well your telephone rang and you went “oh no”
you forgot about this and you forgot about that
and you’ve got to get back to what you’re doin’
goodbye click that so-and-so
you’re an island and on your own
and you yelled “hey” when your stove blew up
upset? why yes
the footprints on your ceiling are almost gone
and you’re wondering why
well mama lay your head down, don’t you cry
’cause your eyes are tired and your feet are too
and you wish the world was as tired as you
well I’ll write a letter and I’ll send it away
and put all the trouble in it you had today
Fast forward to 2004. It’s primary season and the Democrats have a candidate for the nomination who is not only anti-war but also leading. Visions of popular opposition dance in my head. But then something happened, he got too dangerous, or something. Or maybe he simply got tarred and feathered and run out of town on a cold steel rail. He could have been, would have been, should have been, an important focal point, or maybe that was simply my fantasy at the time. Oops. Wrong again. Strike one.
Then came Farenheit 9/11. I thought it was gonna be a home run, and from all the hype it should have been a grand slam. Hell, from the hype it should have been a five-run shot — way out past the monuments. Even Shawn Green couldn’t throw it back. And this fantasy was based on more evidence than the previous one, I thought. Michael Moore had made some great TV in the 90s, he was hot on the heels of a big success with Bowling For Columbine, and I was expecting greatness again. Boy, did I ever get a wrong number. He pulled so many punches it wasn’t even funny. It reminded me of National Lampoon’s great line
that’s not funny, that’s pathetic
I sat through the whole thing, even though it was so depressing, and left the cinema broken-hearted.
He could have, should have, would have been a premier truth-teller. He was and is clearly someone who can appeal to “regular guys”. And he did, with the slacker tour and so on. But the hard truths about 9/11 never made it into his film, and neither did most of the hard questions. Boom. Called strike two. Not even the courtesy of a swing and a miss. He didn’t even take the bat off his shoulder.
And yet, I figured it was gonna be ok … because we still had one strike left. And his name was John Kerry.
I worked hard to make myself like John Kerry. I cherry-picked like mad, found and focused on all the best things I could find about him, made up and indulged in all manner of fantasies. I knew nothing. I read some of the things that he said and wrote about Vietnam and I thought “How can he not feel the same way about Iraq?” I knew nothing. I knew there was trouble with the electoral system, but I figured there would be such a landslide it couldn’t be stolen.
But then came the first presidential debate. And within the first three minutes, I realized I was wrong again. Strike three. Game over.
--------
Most of the people around me didn’t seem to realize the game was over. So they kept paying attention. And pulled along by their intensity, I paid attention too, but in a curiously detached way, thinking: “What are all these people looking at? Don’t they realize it’s over?”
As you know, after the “election”, a fair number of people cried “FOUL!” … and clearly it was! But I never thought the umpire would see it that way. Or to be honest, I thought he might see it that way but I figured he’d be afraid to call it that way. But apparently I was wrong again.
Apparently it was a foul tip. And apparently the catcher didn’t hold it.
Unbelievable? Maybe, but it’s happened before. A World Series turned on a dropped third strike. Who knows?
Incredibly, we are still at bat. Unimaginably, we are still in the game.
Praise the Lord, or whatever or whomever you prefer to praise, if any. The game is still on.
And Cindy Sheehan is at the plate.
a modern shakespearean whisper, and more…
Knowledge Is Power! Pass It On!!
psst! Don’t #%*! With Cindy Sheehan!
It’s happening! Slowly, belatedly, gradually and sometimes seemingly reluctantly, but nonetheless it really is happening.
There’s a stirring in the land, the likes of which we haven’t seen in a very long time. Maybe ever.
And The Whispering Campaign is such a small part of it that I’m tempted to apologize for flogging it so relentlessly here. Really. I’d much rather buy you a drink and tell you a few jokes.
But today I’m here to talk about the eight very powerful articles we’ve posted since last night. Three are excerpts from an interview with an Iraq Vet. Talk about Truth To Power!! Wow!
Two more are from Mark Morford’s latest column. You have to read it. You just have to. And that’s an order 😉
Then there’s one about the court case concerning Maher Arar and extraordinary rendition, and another about the Siberian permafrost melting and its inevitable effects on global climate change. Very newsworthy, most unlikely to appear at McPaper or FauxTV, and therefore well worth posting, we thought.
But there’s one item in particular that we really want you to read, print, copy, and distribute. Our edited version is called Do Not F*ck With Cindy Sheehan!.
Yes, the original title was a bit more explicit. But we run a family site. And either way, we think it’s fantastic. We found it at The Bulldog Manifesto. And at the moment, it’s the featured item on our menu, over at The Whispering Campaign.
So: Please, please, please! Visit our site, print some pages, make some copies, spread these powerful articles around — and bring some needed bursts of truth to the streets, in your part of town.
Being The Media has never been easier, or more fun. And it’s a damned good thing, too. Because it has never been more necessary.
