Starting now! The folks from ThinkProgress (more photos there) stopped by earlier. “Judd and I stopped by the K Street Carnival of Corruption on our way home. Couldn’t stay long – the DeLay supporters passing out Newsmax magazine (cover story: “Targeting Tom DeLay“) were just a bit much – but it was great fun.”
Earlier, ThinkProgress posted … below:
Tonight, a A “near who’s who of Washington’s conservative establishment” will head to the Capital Hilton for a loyalty litmus test … er … “tribute” to House leader Tom DeLay. (Fittingly, the event is smack dab on K Street – the Avenue of the Lobbyists.) One hilarious note from the Christian Science Monitor:
Organizers say they have not solicited K Street lobbyists to buy up tables at Thursday night’s event. “We knew that if we went to them, we could sell the tables in no time, but we did not want the event to be viewed that way,” says Ms. Mitchell of the ACU.
My letter to the editor tonight:
Editor:
When Republican Tom DeLay got caught in massive ethics scandals I expected the Republican party, the party that claims to be so moral, to reject DeLay’s corruption and demand his resignation. That would have been the honorable thing to do. But to my surprise, the Republican party has instead embraced DeLay’s corruption and defended him. Now some three-dozen House and Senate Republicans have held a gala last Thursday actually honoring the corrupt SOB! Even such high-ranking Republicans as House Majority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri and Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman are attending this celebration of corruption. How disgusting!
The whole Tom DeLay scandal mess has made one thing very clear to me. The Republicans have no interest in morality at all. All they care about is power and money. I am disgusted by the whole Republican party!
Tom is speaking!
We Democrats have no ideas, no agenda … and now “no class.”
harry reid called the Commander In Chief as loser … just like Al Gore, etc. did.
Democrats are the party of “No.” But dozens of GOOD Democrats have joined the Republicans to pass remarkable legislation.
I can’t decide if I want Tom DeLay to stay in power and become an even bigger albatross to the Republicans, or whether he should step down (or be forced out) because he’s just too dangerous and unpredictable.
Either way, the Republicans sure are contradicting themselves by sticking up for this sleazebag, after pretending to be morally outraged by Clinton’s affair.
Yeah.
The James Watt strategy. Same goes for Bolton!
