The Democratic Model State for the Middle East, has uncovered a plot by Jewish extremists – settlers and religious right – to buy a missile and attack the Holiest Muslim Shrine on the Temple Mount of Jerusalem: the Al Aqsa Mosque.
To show all Arab states, how in a parliamentary democracy, everyone abides by the law, in Israel it’s just the opposite. It is also not the first time, the young nation of Israel are at odds with democratic decisions taken by their government. The extremist in parliament from left to right have often poisoned the atmosphere where true statesmen can lead this nation forward.
The choices Israel has made to secure its existence in the Middle East, have often been at odds with International Law, UN SC Resolutions and opinions world-wide. The further building of the security wall and fence, has received a negative legal opinion by world’s highest court: The International Court of Justice in The Hague.
Transgress into diary territory below the fold —
GAZA – Occupied Palestinian Territory
The blatent transgression on Palestinian Territory will make any peaceful solution in the future more improbable.
The necessity of an international body or super power to push both sides to the negotiation table has been lacking for decades during the cold war era, and today the Bush | Cheney regime refuses to be evenhanded in its approach of the conflict.
JERUSALEM (AP) May 17, 2005 — Jewish extremists talked of firing a missile at a key Islamic holy site in Jerusalem, and hundreds of others blocked main highways with burning tires — examples of how opponents hope to scuttle Israel’s planned pullout from Gaza and part of the West Bank.
Israeli police and officials on Monday said they interrogated three Jews who planned to purchase a missile from criminals and fire it at the Dome of the Rock, the ancient gold-topped shrine on the same plaza as the Al Aqsa Mosque. Such an attack would likely ignite violence throughout out the Mideast.
Extremist Jews are organizing to stop the pullout at all cost, security officials warn. Possible scenarios are an attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, violent resistance to the pullout itself, disruptions throughout the country and an attack on the hotly disputed holy site in the Old City of Jerusalem known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount.
Muslims revere the site as the place were Muhammad ascended to heaven.
To Jews, it’s the location of the biblical temples, destroyed 20 centuries ago.
Even small events there have escalated into bloodshed. The current round of Palestinian-Israeli violence began in August 2000 after Sharon, then the parliamentary opposition leader, made a provocative visit to the hilltop.
According to a police statement, the young Jewish eccentrics said they planned to commit suicide after firing an anti-tank missile at the holy site and throwing grenades at police who would try to arrest them.
JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel plans to start extending its West Bank separation barrier around its largest settlement bloc by May 31 — construction that would in effect expand Jerusalem’s boundaries and cut off Palestinians from the city they seek as a future capital, government and security officials said.
