Given all the great diaries once again today, I am a tad embarrassed to even bring this one up. Maybe, hopefully, it will be taken with the levity I bring to it, a positive thought on what for me will be a great day.
You see, today is a special day in our household. Jane, my wife of eight years, is celebrating her 48th birthday.
I have a favor to ask, below the fold.
Since part of my time during the day is given to blogging I am sheepishly wondering if I can call upon the Booman Tribune crowd which so warmly has welcomed me, to provide Jane with birthday wishes. Although Jane avoids politics, she is liberal — birthday wishes from B’Tribbers would be like people at a restaurant singing Happy Birthday and clapping, even though you don’t know the person directly. Since, as I discussed in my welcome wagon post, Jane and I met online; she can’t ignore the reality of the people behind the nicknames, the real life struggles and successes each of us enjoy.
So this morning when I woke up, I created a gmail account to gather any well wishes that anyone so inclined wishes to provide. That address is JaneK2005 (at) gmail (dot) com.
I have found some wonderful friends in my short time here, and look forward to many more exchanges of ideas. I’d venture to say that chances are it’s somebody else’s birthday around here, especially if you consider extended families. We are off to church in a little bit, and are very much looking forward to a nice lunch with our overworked minister who has graced us by joining us for a birthday lunch. Our minister is a very special woman, who has spread herself very thin by being so active on so many fronts. She sits on the Interfaith Council board in Sacramento, is active in the Habitat for Humanity, and countless other worthwhile causes. Oh yeah, and is Senior Pastor of a 800 member United Methodist Church, in her spare time. It means a lot to Jane for our minister to set aside some time to join us for lunch today.
Well, that’s it — thank you for your time. I won’t be keeping any kind of tally as to who forwarded a birthday wish; in fact, I am wondering how I would react if I read such a diary as this myself. I hope that I haven’t crossed any boundary that Booman or SusanHu or anyone else may feel shouldn’t be crossed — but I don’t think I’ve been a prick, either now or before. 🙂
P.S. For anyone that doesn’t have a gmail account, I have plenty of invites — just let me know.

Thank you, one and all … it’s been a while now, but your thoughts really did put a smile on Jane’s face. In these uncertain times we live, sometimes it is the little things. You provided very nice “little things”, and for that I thank you.
