It’s been an interesting couple of weeks around the blogosphere, wouldn’t you say? I’m always amazed that things hold together so well considering we’re a bunch of emotionally-charged, news-addicted, cross-generational human beings. Sites like this allow us to hash out the issues of the day as well as arm ourselves with the truth to fight the ideological war that will determine the future of our country and world.
Blog Administrators like Señor Boo walk a fine line of getting their message out to the internets, creating a lasting community, and maintaining the practical needs of a website. Major e-props to Frogstalker Boo for dancing the jig so skillfully.
How can you give back to Booman Tribune? A site that has helped many of us increase our political activism?
Here is a good start:
- Invite your friends by email to join the site, perhaps with an excerpt to a diary you know will interest them.
Example: I just sent my best friend the link to AuntyPeachy’s Costco diary because she is an employee of Costco and I know would be interested in the commentary. That’s how you can hook people into the blogworld and politics–show them how it affects their lives.
- Visit the ads. This helps out both the site and the advertisers. (I recommend the Cowboy Junkies, they are a great band)
- Check the blogrolls of your other favorite blogs. Booman Tribune is now in the top 20 lefty blogs for traffic. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be on every blogroll. Send an email to the site administrator requesting that BooTrib be added with a link to the homepage. Be nice of course!
- Bring the Frog Home. Visit the BooTrib Store for coffee mugs and t-shirts. I’m anxiously awaiting my set so I can show off Darwin to southern Arizona.
- Don’t forget Jerome. Make sure to do the same promotion for our sister site, the European Tribune. I know I’m guilty of being a lurker there, but my mind is continually blown by the perspective found across the pond in Europe.
For the record, I don’t personally know Gran Masta Boo. I’m just a regular BooTribber like the rest of you. Over the past few months I have been increasingly grateful for the community and the commentary found here at Booman Tribune. As I’ve searched for ways to give back, these were some ideas I came up with. I hope you’ll join me in promoting the site across the blogosphere and helping to make sure the Frog Pond continues to grow.
