Unbossed has the dirt on President Bush’s nominee to serve as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center. The NCTC will be a new agency, “responsible for analyzing intelligence on terrorism and for the strategic planning of counterterrorism operations. The NCTC will report partly to the President and partly to John Negroponte, the new director of National Intelligence.”
Bush’s choice is Vice Admiral John Scott Redd. Redd, in his role as deputy administrator and chief operating officer of the Coalition Provisional Authority, was responsible for overseeing two spectatular failures in Iraq. He lost 9 billion dollars while doling out reconstruction contracts and he failed miserably in his job of “training and deployment of Iraq’s security programs.”
And if graft and incompetence were not enough to qualify Redd for a promotion, he also may have been involved in corrupting the Iraqi election results.
His confirmation hearing is tomorrow. The outrage never ends.
