EEEEEEEEEk…that reminds me for some reason of the old horror movie ‘The Fly’ when there was a human head on the fly at the end of the movie and it was squeaking, help me help me…as for karl baby, no fucken chance except to help the frog marching brigade hasten his downfall. All of them to the bowels of public opinion hell.
Why does this reminde mof the The Rings “My Precious!”?
how do i post a picture that i might post if i become less shy about posting pictures
<img src="type your url here">
if your picture is wider than 400px you can shrink it like this:
<img width="400" src="type your url here">
great, thanks, now to decide on the pic
If you need more info about picture posting, here’s an explanation I posted a while ago. You’ll need a place to host your pic so as to have a url for it. Photobucket is really easy to use.
Inkfrog.com is great for photos too.
thanks everyone for the info. i’m going to post a picture on ffroggy bottom cafe/ lounge after i ponder for a day or two
Or you can e-mail your photo to me, and I’ll resize it for you and save it in a Web-friendly format.
thanks so much.
Hi, my name’s dean and I’m a bloggaholic.
we’re blogoholics too!!
Hi dean, welcome, enjoy your stay and hope to see you again.
I’ll be around, been here for a while, just never introduced myself. 🙂
The first step is admitting that you’re a bloggaholic. Good job.
Welcome one and all and hopefully all you newbies and lurkers will at least say howdy. Booman, how about another poll? One to find out how diverse or not the people are here. I know I’ve linked to the Black Commentator before as it has excellent articles and ones that almost never show up here. Are any Americans of Arab descent or even Polish descent like myself posting here to add a richness and flavor to this site?
Ghostdancersway does an incredible job but I wish we had more diaries or links to Native American stories also….and I don’t want to seem to be separating people but that is what does make the country great-the diversity of people and cultures intermingling and working together-no matter what the right wing whitebread whackos say.
That picture is just too funny. So glad I wasn’t in the process of taking a sip of something…lol.
To those of you that are new here or have just been lurking around silently in the corner, don’t be shy. You have entered an incredible place that not only cares deeply about the state of our nation but cares deeply about the folks that write and hang out here. So pull up a chair and sit back and enjoy this warm and welcoming environment. Stop in at the Cafe too. Always a great Happy hour there with free food and drinks! Welcome!!!!
me that Man on Dog is on the Daily Show tonight. OMG.
I had totally forgotten, thanks for the reminder Boo!
This constant baiting Boo has just got to stop.
First you rain on my Oy Vey parade. I can take that, I’m a big girl. But calling me a “loudmouth” because I happen to enjoy the attention heaped on me in newbie open threads is just plain mean.
🙂
Hello all. I’ve been a lurker and finally registered. So that would mean I’m a … newblurk? 🙂
We’re so glad you’re here. Post away. Make diaries. Need any help, e-mail me.
Thanks Susan. I recognize your handle from Kos. Thanks for doing what you do.
Or possibly you’re a blurkie? Whatever you are. . .and I’m sure it’s very nice 🙂 . . .many welcomes to you! I hope you’ll drop by the cafe for coffee in the morning, if you don’t drop by for a drink tonight.
Welcome, excited to read what you have to say.
Hello i’m Irisheyes and I have been a lurker here for several weeks. I tried to post this morning (first post anywhere ever!) and somehow lost all my formatting and my links were wrong. I checked the comments this evening and tried to use the edit function to correct post as suggested. Didn’t work so deleted post and tried to repost corrected copy. Got a message that my corrected HRML was bad, wouldn’t post.
I have no idea what I am doing!! When I graduated high school, cash registers were mechanical, calculators were a rumor, and only NASA had computers.
Is there a tutorial on posting anywhere? My sons have taught me everything I know about computers, but they don’t blog….Help???
I love this site! I apppreciate the wonderful people who read thru my post an made suggestions! Thanks!
Send me your code by e-mail.
Hey there irisheyes,
If you haven’t checked it out yet, the FAQ here has a link to the dKos FAQ which is a great starting place for HTML questions.
If you have any specific questions, fire away, we’ll be happy to help!
Welcome! Personally, I love being incompetent, as you can tell from my sig line, and I’m really quite good at it, if I do say so myself. 🙂 Such a paradox! Anyway, good for you for plunging in. There are lots of helping hands here. Come on over to the Froggy Bottom Cafe when you get the time!
Thank you all!!!
welcome Irisheyes. good to have you here. I too am self taught on the computer. I have one at work; however am very cautious as to using it for posting and doing much off company sight. My pc at home is what I use for online posting and love that I have become as handy at it as I have.
BooMan is featured at Salon’s Daou Report for his piece, “The Fall of Baghdad.”
And I’m featured at Alternet: “Susanhu has an excellent roundup of press coverage of CIA agent Larry Johnson’s statement …
Proud I am!
When are you going to write a book?
WooHoo! Congrats to Boo and SuHu!
Whew!
(I’m getting silly…time for bed…)
ditto that for me too…..hugs to boo and susan
I’ve been a lurker here and elsewhere in “left blogosphere” for a few months now. Just trying to get the hang of posting comments and don’t think I’ll be ready for a diary anytime soon! Pretty intimidating with all the wonderful writers out there…
Peace
Welcome! This is a great place to get started, people here are super kind. Excited to read your diaries in the future.
Welcome to you, too! You may find as a lot of us have that this is a particularly friendly environment for trying things for the first time. People who have never commented anywhere before tend to feel safe enough to speak up here, and people who never thought they’d ever diary, end up writing ones that are very well received. Any time you want help, just holler, and you’ll find people eager to pitch in. (Hint: the Cafe is a really good place to ask questions and try things out. That’s where I learned how to post photos from the internet, for instance, and how to do certain things like making boxes around text. It’s fun.)
Makome,
I have been a lurker for quite a while, and I finally just had to bust out and try. My high school teachers used to say that I never used a word when six would do, so I will watch for the verbosity, but I think our national disussion needs original insights from real people far more than brilliant writing. Besides, practice makes progress!! I look forward to hearing from you!
welcome and I hear you on the intimidating factor… just jump on in and you will soon get the fun of it all
I am actually a Front Page Contributor here, though you probably wouldn’t know it, since what I mostly do is lurk.
Unless, of course, I’m shamelessly whoring my new community blog, My Left Wing.
Oops. Did it again.
the man in the mirror. Left looks right and the way forward recedes. The Mouse of Life is upside down in my hand.
I have fitfully worked on a diary entry for DailyKos that discloses more, although its objective is to share my confidence that we can build an excellent America in spite of the distraction of defending the better aspects of that legacy.
When not cryptic however, I am compulsively open, and so need to avoid the sort of society that rhythmicly gathers itself for self-regard and ostracism. With my reverse mouse, I have enjoyed in-crowd status in places where I suffer absolute alienation. Conversely, at dailyKos, the regular dionysian purges of those who dare mention what the evidence suggests has left me in a limbo of doubt about whether this blogosphere can absorb truth without losing hope.
The wishful thinking wasted on denying the extent of the coup in America is small compared to the untapped optimism in opportunities for a newer, better America built by whatever citizens show up.
I have launched a series of ventures in my adult life, and until the election last year had been corraling various elements of the television industry into a revival of free, airborne transmission as prelude to a library of perpetually-refreshed content on your local hard drive, in time fed over a mesh network. It occasioned the first visit by a group of executives representing a majority of the television industry to the Consumer Electronics Show, so low was their regard for advancing their industry, and it was also an occasion for those who had spent long careers defeating any attempt to upset their Good Thing to roll out a very long carpet of false hopes, on which the footprints of predecessors were visible.
Ah, someone else is still up. Welcome. I hope you like it here well enough to stay. “Cryptic/compulsively open” is familiar to me. Those words remind me of certain flowers that cannot help but close by night and also cannot help but disclose all of themselves when the sun shines warmly on them. I like to think this is an environment where such a plant can bloom.
And now to bed.
because I like your posts.
Now, about Kos having ‘dionysian purges’…
Clever…but…I’d say we are the site for that type of revelry. After all, we have so many women, we’re bound to have some kind of ecstatic dionysian festival at some point in the future 🙂
Mirrors are way cool. So are you.
SHY??? who me??? nawww
