That’s a still shot of the “Kitty & Puppy Video.” The “My Cat Stinky II” video is pretty cute. The cat in this video — “Ik wil op de kas” — is amazing.
Some of the videos, um, are a bit different. OPEN THREAD : : :
The second movie that George Clooney’s directed — “Goodnight and Good Luck,” about the life of Edward R. Murrow — is coming out at the Venice Film Festival.
We’re so hoping it’s a good film…. it’s such a great subject!
Here’s the IMDb link to the full cast. David Straitharn is playing Murrow. George Clooney is playing Fred Friendly and Frank Langella is playing William Paley.
It’ll be released on Oct 7 (limited)/Oct 14 (wide) in the U.S.
I misspelled Strathairn.
I LOVE David Straitharn. However you spell it.
You and Darcy! She’ll rent any movie that he’s in. Did you ever see Limbo or Passion Fish?
CAPTION: Former U.S. Customs Inspector Mike Chapman stands near the ferry landing in Port Angeles as the MV Coho arrives from Victoria on Wednesday. Chapman, now a Clallam County commissioner, helped catch terrorist Ahmed Ressam, who drove off the ferry, in 1999.

Terrorist’s Port Angeles captors pleased with prison sentence
2005-07-28
by RAUL VASQUEZ
PORT ANGELES — The two men who tackled would-be terrorist Ahmed Ressam took in stride news that he was sentenced Wednesday to 22 years in prison by a federal judge.
But that’s not to say the Port Angeles residents have forgotten about the strange events that unfolded Dec. 14, 1999, at the MV Coho ferry landing that led to Ressam’s conviction and sentencing.
That evening, U.S. Customs inspectors Mike Chapman, who is now a Clallam County commissioner, and Mark Johnson chased Ressam through the streets of downtown Port Angeles after he bolted from the port of entry lane as soon as inspectors asked him to exit his rented car.
Ressam had arrived on the MV Coho shortly before 6 p.m. on that chilly, holiday season day and was attempting to transport bomb-making materials, including two jugs of nitroglycerin-like substance, to Los Angeles International Airport to detonate there around the millennium celebrations.
Knew of explosives
“My most vivid remembrance of [Ressam] is that after we had him apprehended and sitting in the police car, he never alerted us while we were testing the materials in his car,” Chapman said Wednesday.
“He knew we were handling explosives and that our lives were in danger.
“That’s the kind of cold and calculating individual he is.”
Given his own experience as well as Ressam’s terrorist objectives, which were later discovered while he was in federal custody, Chapman was pleased with the 22-year sentence handed down by a federal judge in Seattle.
“I think it’s a fair sentence,” Chapman said.
“The bottom line is we’re very grateful that we were able to apprehend him.”
(Stupid newspaper doesn’t put up the entire story … but it’ll give you the gist.)
A woman agent was the first to be suspcious of Rassam,
and an elderly couple helped stop the bandit with their
car.
I read somehwere that everytime the agents shook the
bottles, the terrorist ducked.
There were enough explosives in the trunk to blow the
Coho out of the water.
I have heard Clinton taking the credit for this capture
and I have heard the FBI taking the credit.
BUT it was the Angelinos!
And thank you Susan for continuing the brave tradition
with your intrepid reporting.
I’ve bristled when Clinton — or others speaking for Clinton — took credit. It was that grandmother — who’s now retired. I didn’t know about the elderly couple, Sybil! Great story.
This is what will stop terrorism. Alertness and good reactions. And good ol’ common sense.
My Senior Senator Liddy Dole (yes, it pains me to write that)has had a problem with her onsite e-mail, it continually loops saying no topic has been selected. Will some of my fellow Boos give it a test and report back so I can know if it’s failing to process all e-mail, or just a limited number of e-mails?
Much obliged.

Same. Ha! She’ll never get my anti-war message. Oh well.
thanks. Her office has done this once before. Something tells me Liddy just doesn’t give a damn.
Sgt. Benderman Gets 15 Months for Lesser Charge
Debbie Clark covering the court-martial for Antiwar.com from Fort Stewart, Georgia, reports that judge Col. Donna M. Wright has convicted Sgt. Kevin Benderman of the charge of missing movement,” failing to convict on the charge of desertion.
So cute.
Yesterday in our local paper, inside the front page was
a story headlined “A little dog with a big heart.”
A chiuahua was caring for two orphaned squirrels.
She had just reared her own pups. AND let me tell you, those baby squirrels were ugly hairless things.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Is there a photo?
No photo, I didn’t scan it.
The little Chiuahua looked a little tired,
fortunately there were only 2 baby squirrels.
I’ve been feeding a lactating mother raccoon who comes by at night and eats ravenously. We named her Valerie P. because she’s lithe, stealthy, and sharp.
Just wait until she brings the babies around …
We had a mama racoon bring her babies around, about 6 of them. They devoured the cat food we put out for feral cats and were on their way. Only problem is one of the babies got left behind. It was sitting on the porch crying piteously for about half an hour. The whole time I’m thinking ‘great, now how am I gonna catch this little thing and where and I going to take it to get care?’ Fortunately, I never had to find out because mama came back and collected her errant offspring. Boy did that little guy stick close to his mom after that.
That’s such a cute story.
So I’d know what to feed the raccoons, I joined the Yahoo groups raccoon list … what a great bunch of people.
They gave me guidance. I’d been giving them cat food but they said dog food is better since they’re omnivorous like dogs. I still give them some cat food though because they really seem to like it!
A lot of the people on that list are wildlife rehabbers, and take care of baby raccoons that get left behind if the mom is killed, etc.
Must Stop Youth Executions(and I’d say adult ones too!
Article from the BBC about The Human Rights Watch concerning the execution of two youths.
we’re not selling any blogads this month, I’m feeling the pinch. I added google ads and Crisp ads to the site. The Crisp ads pay 25 cents a click. Google ads depend on some secret formula. I hope the ads don’t slow up the site, or annoy people, but I need to pay the bills.
