Welcome back, paint fans!
In volume 6 of this series, we continued the painting inspired by the streetscape seen in the photo immediately below. (The street in front of my house.) The photo immediately below the streetscape shows where we left our work-in-progress. Since that time I have taken the painting further. These changes are seen in the 2 photos following.
The photo:
This is where we left our painting:
Seen below is the progress (2 photos) I have made since volume 6.
As you can see, I’ve made changes to the sky as well as the wooded areas. The area to the left has been changed, the lower portions of the trees now have lightened areas. The sky has changed shape. The road is still looking like a stream. I’m going to change the color so that it isn’t as bright. Again, this is a process of editing, changes are made as necessary, dependent on how things are going.
Below is a photo showing how it presently appears.
The photo shows further changes including more detail and highlights to wooded areas. (I’m still hard to please.) The light areas of the road toward the far end have changed to appear brighter. I’m still considering several further changes. If I do make any I will post photos of those next week. As usual, tell me what you think below in the comments. (Or, should I just call it done and move on?)
Until next week, happy painting!
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
I stumbled across this!!! I love seeing the work in progress.
Question: how did you scan it?
I love following this one painting… I’ve tried some of the same techniques and next work, I want to attempt using bubblewrap and some salts.
Not mine – from a teaching/sharing link
from wet canvas. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Articles2/1355/351/page3.php
I think the image is much better in the early stages.
The watercolorist might have left it as an abstract
painting instead of articulating recognizable images.
It is a good lesson on less is more.
Sybil 🙂 My thoughts exactly!!! It got too busy, imho.
I’m so stoked to see Boran2’s diary about this. I can’t wait to see more of the steps.
and this is the perfect medium for it.
It’s actually just a digital photo on my kitchen floor. I have a very basic 3.2 megapixel unit and use an old version of adobe photo deluxe. It seems to work fairly well for these diaries though, thanks.
okay with Bill Gates. I have to get another one (at some point) haven’t since I have a digital camera now…
I’ll try shooting some of my stuff.
I had done some scanning of my 8×10 pointilism which seemed to take up a buttload of space due to the “dots”. I lost them when our computer fried. I’ll see if I can capture then with my camera. Great idea thanks 🙂
I can’t wait to see how your painting evolves and where it ends up.
