Unbelievable.
We’ll have to wait and see if Abramoff, like most people indicted in federal court starts singing like a bird.
This could be the beginning of a very slippery slope of trouble for many connected to Abramoff.
When the powers of the criminal arm of the U.S. Department of Justice are on top of you, most people would sell out their mother.
The story from the Miami Herald after the jump.
From the Miami Hearld

Agents were to take Republican insider Jack Abramoff into custody on Thursday afternoon in the Baltimore area. His partner in the controversial 2000 SunCruz acquisition, Adam Kidan, was expected to surrender to authorities, according to sources familiar with the probe.
The South Florida indictment charging the duo with defrauding $60 million from two lenders that financed the sale instantly rocked the nation’s corridors of power. Indeed, rumors of their imminent arrests circulated during the past week.
Very, very interesting.
Oh too sweet. Let the dominos begin to fall.
they usually start falling after indictments
Feces fly furiously fast from fan…
Every GOP member better get used to ducking and running at the same time!
LMAO!
Are you new here? Haven’t seen your handle before. Welcome to the Tribe. Always great to see a new member. Hope you enjoy the nice, civil atmosphere here. Fabulous diarists and really cute aloha gals…lol!
Yes… I have been here a few weeks.
I found this place when some guy named Booman left a rare comment in one of my dKos diaries (m16eib)…
I think I like it over here more. Less pretentious and more open to dialogue here. (Not knocking dKos OR the great work they do over there collectively, but this place seems to be more my style… 🙂
is “what took so long?”
This is excellent knews. It seems our justice department is not totally asleep.
Is it too early to say… “the frog marching has begun”?
I’m off to search for a photo. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving bottom feeder. Boy oh boy, if he starts talking, Connecticut Man got it right, the defecation is about to hit the oscillating circulator.
i liked the part about “FBI agents searching for him” like it was a man hunt and jack was on the run.
Help Karl, help.
Yeah, that line gave me a happy mental image as well. Apparently he surrendered to authorities today (Friday, 8/12) in California. here’s the latest CNN International article CNN International, by the way, is worth bookmarking… it is not as compliant to the administration as CNN USA. I’m still on the lookout for perp walk photos, but so far nothing. That’s an image the GOP will try to avoid, given how close this slimebag is to all the top Republicans. Alas, I’m afraid we won’t be treated to seeing the actual event.
The Hammer is, as they say in Texas, “bout to git et’ by a coyote and shit off a cliff”
Woohoo!
Peace
in Miami and environs of South Florida, the citizenry is more interested in the screws being put on Abramoff and his buddy in wire fraud, Kidan, for the murder (hit) on “Gus” Boulis, the guy they were trying to buy SunCruz Casinos from when the wire fraud went down.
Boulis was murdered while driving his car home from his business in Ft. Lauderdale, and nobody wanted to talk to police after the killing because they KNEW it was a hit and were afraid for themselves and their families. While it’s not exactly an open secret who most wanted him dead, my opinion is that his associates in SunCruz, and the lawyers associated with the sale of 90% of his interests to Kidan know that Kidan is the guy who “done him in.” And Abramoff was NOT out of the loop. So if not a co-conspirator, he’s an accessory.
My hunch is that those criminal charges will get him to sing on the whiter collar crime. Ahhh, it’s going to be an interesting summer.
There’s a string of stories on Boulis’ murder that appeared in the Sun Sentinel that make for entertaining reading.
Wow. What with all the scandals and horror stories there are to focus on, I’m not well versed in all Abramoff’s dealings. This is interesting, indeed. You know, a guy like Abramoff, whose loyalties go to the highest bidder, is most likely to sing like a scared little bird when faced with jail time and a ruined life. It will indeed be fun to watch him (and the GOP)squirm.
Abramoff was arrested by the FBI in LA.
While the LA Times isn’t carrying anything on the story that I can find online, they do have a revealing article about another possible scandal involving Abramoff and Bush WH that I was ignorant of.
So, on the chance that others are similarly in the dark, here’s a brief passage from the Times story.
and
US Atty., Frederick A. Black, who had served as acting U.S. attorney for Guam and the Northern Mariana islands since 1991, was removed by Bush the day after he issued a subpoena to
The article is full of nasty details. Enjoy!
