Crooks & Liars interviewed MilitaryTracy today, right after the rally in Crawford. Listen! It’s terrific.
Update [2005-8-13 22:27:49 by susanhu]:
Would you like to cry tonight?
Listen to John at Crooks & Liars doing what he does best. John had a terrible injury that prevents him, for now, from pursuing his first love. Thank god we’re his second love, right? (That’s his original composition, and that’s he on the saxophone. He told me he should be on tour with Duran Duran right now, but must wait …)
Nice. Thanks Susan, thanks crooksandliars, thanks Tracy! Good job. Keep up the good work.
I have found my work! My truth cannot be denied either and I shared my truth first here and I was befriended and accepted. Bushco wants blood and guts from me and I speak from a very deep base place and I am now willing to be heard.
God Bless you! It is you and what you have said just now here that let me know for certain that we will win this thing in the end. You cannot be defeated.
Straight from the source!
MT – you’re spot on!
Thanks!
Rub,
I am graced with your presence. If anybody understands persistence and keeping your eye on the goal it is you. Thank you ever so much for sharing your daily photos and poems! I have always felt inspired by you and your work! All My Love!
You’re very kind to say that, MT. Glad you went, glad to hear you’re back, and hope to see you at some gathering sometime. Until then, we’re all together in spirit.
to be a part of this community. Thx MT, brinn, adastra, supersoling, aloha, and everyone else. Truth is power and we’re seeing its muscles finally start to flex against the lies of the Bushistas.
(and thanks to Crooks & Liars for sending us traffic on a usually “sleepy” Saturday)
Thank you for your support Man Eegee. This is the start and it felt so fucking good to be there and say NO!
the actions of Cindy, you and others have helped to “change the wind”. Thank you for being you, Tracy.
Tracy sounded great! Thanks to Crooks & Liars and that also they said they’d be checking in with her again.
Sounds like this is really gaining momemtum while the other side slunk away after their big ‘half hour’ protest. Dedicated fuckers aren’t they..just like their dedication to sending their sons/daughters off to war-‘if they really are needed’ as that one women said the other day.
I’m glad Tracy also mentioned how they are down their protesting against war and on the radio they hear bush talking about taking action against Iran if need be. How much more of a disconnect can you get than that with our idiot-in-chief? Just rather bizarre even for him..why of all days would he come out saying this…except for the fact that it seems to be dominating the recurring news cycle on the cable news today..
Now this is what I call reality tv..on the internet-go Tracy and all of you down there keep cool and take care.
Hi Chocolate,
Thank you for all of your ;support
I thought I would mention also that there are others(many I am sure)out there who are thinking of everyone and wishing they could somehow be with all of you. Who aren’t doing any posting here.
How do I know. Well my sister came over Tuesday and she was all fired up without me even saying anything at first. She really was trying to figure out if there was some way her/I could drive there and bring some supplies(she has an energy efficient minivan) but like me she happens also to have this hereditary neuro-muscular disease although not as bad as I do and tires very easily and heat is very bad for her also so we sadly had to shitcan the whole idea.
I can’t tell you how much this is killing me and my sister to just sit here. Anyway I figure for everyone who is posting and who is lucky enough to be able be there down there for awhile there are surely many others out there who are behind this whole movement and will start becoming more/more vocal and speaking up.
I am so proud of her! She sounds wonderful, and I’m so glad she’s had a chance to do this! And, can I just say how much I like our whole community here one more time?
Cabingirl,
So true that this was a healing for me. One I am very grateful for and one that will allow me to develop my voice in such a way that it can be better heard by others who aren’t in my shoes but who need to begin to make some decisions concerning their military and how they will allow it to be used!
We can hear it in your voice, and I’m so glad others will hear it too. (((hugs)))
ps- I think your husband is an incredible guy, too.
What a pig! What a potty mouth! How ya doin Infidel?
(waiving hand) yeppers, that’s me…LMAO…

You keep up the good work out there, and remember:
“don’t let the bastards get you down” and don’t give into their trickery…we know how that works…
Peace lil’ sister…and if you need the “pig” I’ll be there ; )
I felt you there with me pig. I think I even had your smell on the second or third day.
What’s that smell
The smell that surrounds youuuuuuuuuu 🙂

Great minds think alike, hon.
Gawd Damn potty mouths! 🙂
Not a hot head but I do have a hot finger 🙂
One-fingered salute to the Bush Bastard and his supporters.
Tracy!!!!! You (let me get my Bahstun accent goin’ on )You fahhhhkin rahwk! 🙂
Bless Your Heart! I have missed you Janet but I carried lots of Damnit with me these past few days.
I’ll be carrying you in my heart in San Francisco when the march happens. 🙂
now… when you get home and you are nice and settled in and been with your family…. we need to shout out to each other on the phone.
I’m at azulism@yahoo.com – so we can connect later on – when you’re “rested” 🙂
I will do when I get home. I can’t believe that you are going to march. I think I’m going to the March in D.C. on September 24 now.
I’m going 🙂 And I’ve got a carload and more coming with me 🙂
Damn – gotta get me a codepink bumbershoot.
They were discussing how Bush could have ended this by just meeting with Cindy at the beginning, but that didn’t have answers to the questions Cindy was going to ask … that telling her that it was hard work wouldn’t cut it. Tracy said this:
What a great job Tracy did. She’s been there for 3 days. She’s away from her husband, family. Thanks guys, you’re making history!
Thank you Olivia
to Tracy on the phone for a while. She was really upbeat and she sounded GREAT. She’s headed for Austin, and she told me that everyone at BooTrib gave her the courage to go to Crawford 🙂
Oh, and she has a really bad sunburn 🙁
BooTrib did indeed give me the confidence to have my voice heard elsewhere. It has been the love and empathy of others on here that allowed me to heal from a lot of hurts concerning Iraq and gave me courage. I took all that to Crawford when there were three tents there and 50 people!
When you get back to Austin, go to the health-food store and get some arnica cream or gel. Both that and lavender are good for healing burns.
I am so thrilled you did this, and so proud of you and all of us.
Memo to politicians: This is what happens when you no longer go all wishy-washy because someone “might” disagree with you. This is what happens when you take a stand–the universe aligns with you.
I think Cindy, and you, and all the others have tapped into a very deep wellspring of national feeling. Cindy asked, What is the noble cause?
And Bush hasn’t answered her because he can’t. There is no answer.
Brinnainne has a potion that is lidocaine and aloe and it feels wonderful.
Excellent.
Next time: sunblock!!
Any kind of vinegar and works on ANY burns. Especially sunburns. I have never peeled since I use vinegar. Makes ya smell like a pickle though.. but we’ll still love ya 🙂
I forgot about vinegar, thank you so much for the reminder. I haven’t had a sunburn in forever and forgot about the secret potion that takes away all the sting thanks friend!
it opens up the pores instead of covering which helps diffuse a burn and somehow keeps ya from peeling.
Ancient Swedish secret passed down from my grandma to me. I go nowhere without my Oil of Olay face moisutrizer (spf nth degree) and sunscreen) – sunscreen and mascara – all I need, man 🙂
Helped when I had those nasty ass pepper burns too
Oh hey… before I forget. I’ve been so damn proud of you and everyone… made my itty bitty black heart swell with proud. Kinda like a woody from the heart 🙂
It is an old Swede remedy. My mom would load it on us after a sunburn when we were kids but peeuey, smell like a big picle for sure.
I never knew that!
That was just great and now everyone can hear tracy great voice and attitude!!!
Diane,
Thank you for all of your help and answering phone calls at all times while I yammered away! I hope you are feeling better very soon. I send all my love
Tracy, is it really you, you must be at Cats. house…I was just so surprised to see your name up here, it’s been so long.
Come on over to the FBC where I am throwing a party for you and all the bootribbers in Texas.
I am feeling a bit better, thank you, epson salts have helped.
It’s me Diane and I’m at Cat’s. Her husband bought me oatmeal stout and it’s superb. A shower soon and then sleep before I continue on. Did I mention that Cat has the greatest husband that ever lived, so I had to have the leftovers, but they were pretty good.
Great work, Tracy, loved the interview… and also Brinnaine with the camera!
I just saw the photos. I remember not knowing for sure what to say to Susan. She has lost so much and I have been in those shoes but for the last step. Last night she was very happy and running around in PJ’s and she came up to me and hugged me close. Things seemed to be turning our way and she knew how scared I was that we were going to end up there all alone. I wasn’t afraid of being arrested. I wasn’t afraid of being hungry or rained on or sweaty and nasty and dirty and I did my best to deal with portapotties…….I was absolutely terrified of being alone though. I was so scared that nobody cared that in the secret hours of the night, even though it was warm my heart felt chilly. DEAR GOD PLEASE DON’T LET US END UP ALONE HERE! And we weren’t!
You are never alone… we support you in spirit… we hold all of you in light and love.
Here’s Frank Rich’s column for tomorrow. He gets it: The war is over. Bush has lost public opinion. It’s just a matter of cleaning up the mess now, a huge job to be sure.
And, of course, keeping the pressure on via Cindy and Tracy and everyone else.
Yes, his column is a slam dunk!
Tracy woman!!! Great interveiw. We are all so damn proud of you and Brinnainne. Your interview was very impressive and Bri running people back and forth from Austin airport to Crawford and back. This tide has turned and we will not let Cindy stand alone. I talked to Briannainne this morning for about an hour. You two amzae me and have helped to motivate me to come down. Will you be going back at all? I will be there the 26th. Bri has my phone# if you have anything you want to advise me on. I was so hoping you would still be there so I could meet you in person. ThANK YOU both from the depths of my soul for being the courageous woman that you are and lighting the way to Crawford for others.
Hey you and your bad self. I heard a rumor that you are coming to Crawford to carry the torch forward?
Yeah but those footprints you have left sure will be hard to fill!!!
I know you are anxious to get home to your beautiful family and just decompress for a few days. I will call you before I go if that is okay with you. Cat gave me your cell#. Just let me know. She also has my email. Let me know when you can breath again and we will talk. I am so happy this has been a healing experience for you Tracy. Keep that with you always, be well.
John’s music is increible. Thank you for sharing it with us. Can we purchase a cd somewhere?
I asked him!
I’ve played that four times now … then my daughter came over … i’ll play it again when she leaves 🙂
oh god susan, thanks so much for that link…I’m listening to it right now for the 3rd time..I’m a sucker for good sax composition..this is beautiful..and yeah sax playing tends to make me cry…thanks again for the link…and thanks to john for this great music.
my windows media player says you can buy the cd on msn.
ooooo,,,thanks Chocolate for the msn tip. Will look for it. Also will send him an email telling how much I love his sax playing. It is incredible. What kind of injury did he have? Does anyone know? Sorry to hear he is in so much pain.
Yes, the music is awesome… how do we tell him so?
crooksandliars@gmail.com
He’s a really lovely person too. he was a delight to talk to today! He’s in terrible pain but he says the CrooksandLiars.com site keeps him sane.
thanks for the address susan, I was thinking the same as the rest…have to tell him how cool this sounds…I’ve just been replaying it over/over while I sit here reading posts.
me too … i used to have a tape of Paul Desmond, and I played it constantly in my car … I love beautiful sax.
I mentioned Paul Desmond to John, and he says he’s a John Coltrane man 🙂
Kenny G., blow it out your arse….
Tracy, did you see my diary from the Friday action in San Jose? Me and SanJoseLady were thinking of Cindy, you, and the whole bloomin’ crew down there! One of the guys and his wife were going to be driving down to Crawford…hope they make it in time.
(oh, and iPhoto on the Mac totally rocks — I took all my photos from the protest and turned them into a slide show, with The Doors “The Unknown Soldier” supplying the soundtrack. Mega coolness!)
ha!
I saw Kenny G — and Arnold Schwarnegger (who got BOOED — he was Reagen’s fitness guru back then) — at the opening ceremonies of the Goodwill Games in 1990.
At the Husky football stadium overlooking Lake Washington … and it was one of those rare August days in Seattle when it was in the 90s and people were fainting all over the place. Luckily, our tickets were on the shady side of the stadium.
Darcy’s 2nd grade class — and all the schoolchildren across Seattle — made paper cranes, which were released en masse at the ceremony that day.
I just thought.
1990.
Goodwill Games … Ted Turner’s quite wonderful venture to bring people together …
and then we all really had such hope for peace, didn’t we.
It was before Gulf War One …
some little circus group from Quebec performed. I’d seen them on HBO, so we got tickets.
Darcy and I went with her little 2nd grade friend — a little black girl who’d been “integrated” into Darcy’s WASP-ish elementary school — and we were transfixed and transformed. I cried, it was so beautiful. And I bought more tickets and took my mom and stepdad … they couldn’t sell out the performances. So it was easy to buy tickets, which weren’t very expensive. .. i forget now how much.
They were called Cirque De Soleil.
That is so cool your daughter got to participate in an event like that.
Any time you all are in Tucson, you have a house!
