The Philadelphia Inquirer (9/29, Budoff) reports that Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Robert P. Casey Jr. “said that if he were a senator, he would support the confirmation of John G. Roberts Jr. to the Supreme Court. After considering factors such as character, resume and judicial philosophy, and listening to Roberts’ testimony before the Judiciary Committee, ‘I would vote to confirm him,’ Casey said in a statement issued by his campaign. Casey’s decision erases a potential contrast with incumbent” Santorum.

Who’da thunk it?
Well, you for one! And a few other women, IIRC…..
😉
There are few contrasts between Casey and Santorum. How do you see the Democratic party being able to differentiate between the 2 cadidates in their camnpaigns?
Add to that Casey’s questionable people skills (think a colder version of John Kerry), and I’d hate to be the oe charged with marketing him to the public. Only thing he has going for him are his name and I suppose his stance on unions.
This kills his stance on Unions. Roberts was strongly anti-labour and Casey’s basically said he’d vote for him. This means Casey puts his misogynist beliefs before his pro-labour beliefs.
This man will, if elected, be no better than Santorum, and possibly worse.
Why doesn’t this surprise me?
Just another DLC tool.
What an idiot!
He could have said he’d vote against, and thrown a bone to the progressives who don’t trust him, but were willing to follow “conventional netwisdom”. (ha!)
He could have kept his mouth shut and hope that everyone would think he would have voted the way they would have wanted him to vote (the Kerry campaign approach).
Instead, he capitializes on the “me too!” approach to confronting Santorum.
Screw it. If that’s the approach to the campaign he wants to take — the “I’m like Santorum, but SANE!” approach…
Why the heck don’t we give it to him? We can compare him to Santorum as often as possible. After all, they have a lot in common, no? If that’s really what the morons in the Democratic Establishment (and their suckups on the blogs) want, hell, lets give it to them in spades.
And if the primary voters decide this is just a bit too damn scary for them, we should have someone waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces.
Isn’t there Chuck Penacchio (apologies for spelling that wrong, I know I did)??
He will be running in the primary right? From what I’ve seen of him and his postings here and there, he seems like a really straight up guy. Do those of you in PA think he would represent your interests?
My friends in PA would glady vote for him.
But I doubt they’ll get the chance. After all, our “friends” like the brilliant-blogger will tell them (and all the voters of PA) that he’s just a lefty-looney, and Casey is “our only hope” of defeating Mr. 38% Santorum.
