I am psyched that AfterDowningStreet.org is trying to raise the money to pay Zogby to poll the “impeach bush” questions! Last I checked they already had it up above $1600…
I see that Democracy Now! is doing some fundraising.
See my temporary signature if you really want to support a good cause as well!
I didn’t know that Zogby takes money to ask questions. What is the going rate per question? How about this..Now that we know that the Repubs are fucking con-artists, liars, thieves and criminals that will use the name of God to get anything they want, Should we ever trust the Republican Party again?
or Which would you choose a) a feeding tube
b) freedom
He doesn’t do all of that work for free…
He has to pay for those people that pick up the phones and call, etc. Many companies, and political parties hire those pollsters to do their work.
The info on the going rates were buried in my previous diary.
I just got a fundraising mailing from the Sanders for Senate campaign. We’re all used to the hype and special pleading in these things, but I have to buy their main point: this might just be the most important Senate race in 06. The GOP is putting big bucks and a big-bucks candidate into this election. Sanders has always depended on small contributions. He does not accept corporate PAC money.
Sanders, as an independent, can’t count on much, if any, help from the Dems. His election will be a rallying point for other true progressives in politics. A defeat would set us back immeasurably.
I’ve decided I’ll no longer contribute to any Dem Party national campaign fund. I’ll put my money where it seems to matter most. If I could choose only one to help out it would be Sanders.
love, love Bernie since I saw him at the media reform conference last May. Dave’s right – if you have any spare money, give Bernie some.
I thought the Dems were gonna kinda sorta help him when they decided not to run a Dem against him… is this not correct? Who’s the VT GOP big-wig?
my money goes locally…
Craig Bensen (sp)… and see how that worked out… Hopefully this GOP guy won’t even get that far.
I don’t think there’s an official Rep candidate yet. David Sirota just says “They have already recruited a multi-millionaire corporate executive who has pledged to spend $5 million of his own to try to buy the election”.
between Democratic and Republican values, or at least action vs. inaction, is this heartwarming Hurricane Katrina story as told by a DNC staffer at The Democratic Party.
Here’s a sample paragraph. . .
. . .Finished? Bet you feel warm and fuzzy all over.
all you Red Sox fans: nanny nanny pooh pooh.
Yanks and Wolverines pull it out and Penn State is rolling. Big day at the Boo House.
I am stoked. Maybe the Nittany Lions will get ranked now.
Boston sucks.
after this. The Big Ten are going to destoy each other this season. The conference winner will have at least one conference loss, most likely two.
The case of the lost ice…
Ok… So this is an excellent example of why contracting out everything creates more chaos and waste than is necessary.

At Princeton University’s Celebration of the 75th Anniversary

… But if you believe, as I do and as President Bush does, that the root cause of September 11th was the violent expression of a global extremist ideology, an ideology rooted in the oppression and despair of the modern Middle East, then we must speak to remove the source of this terror by transforming that troubled region. If you believe as we do, then it cannot be denied that we are standing at an extraordinary moment in history.

Some would argue that this broad approach to the problem is making the world less stable by rocking the boat and wrecking the status quo. But this presumes the existence of a stable status quo that does not threaten global security. This is not the case. A regional order that produced an ideology of hatred so savage as the one we now confront is not serving any civilized interest.
For 60 years, we often thought that we could achieve stability without liberty in the Middle East. And ultimately, we got neither. Now we must recognize, as we do in every other region of the world, that liberty and democracy are the only guarantees of true stability and lasting security.
Now, to support democratic aspirations, we must be serious about the universal appeal of certain basic rights.
We must help all young democracies to protect minority rights, to enforce the rule of law, and to build the foundations of good governance, from a thriving economy and a vibrant civil society, to a free media and opportunities for learning and for health for their people.
The United States and a large coalition of nations finally removed Saddam Hussein. By any moral standards, the liberation of the Iraqi people was long overdue.
World War II thoroughly consumed the old international system. And it fell to a group of American statesmen — individuals like Truman, [Marshall], and Acheson and Vandenburg — to assume the roles of architects and builders of a better world.
[…] And it is very often hard to see a clear path. But if you are — as those great architects of the post-Cold War victory were — if you are true to your values, if you are certain of your values, and if you act upon them with confidence and with strength, it is possible to have an outcome where democracy spreads and peace and liberty reign.
BTW I miss her reference to Winston Churchill and the vision of a new world order, and the vision and initiative of Robert Schuman to build a free and united Europe, at peace from within and in relation to its neighbors.
Oh, sure I forgot, George W. Bush has replaced the statesman Winston Churchill as leader of the Empire in the World. The only good values are … my values!

And you’re going to tell me that all those Princetonian wonks laughed her outta the place.
They didn’t? I guess they don’t live in the reality-based worth, either.
I still like the definition of Condi that someone posted last winter at dKos: that she has a mediocre PhD from a mediocre university and in the real world would be arranging class schedules at a state university, something she might be good at.
and I can remember who, did a really great diary on all the great things you can do with HTML. Does anyone remember who did it and can someone please provide a link? I’d appreciate it.
did one during the Bronze Age of BMT. Here’s the link.
thank you. you the man.
