Devils Tower, WYIf you look closely, you can see a climber between the branches of the dead tree. Climbing the monument is regulated, in an attempt to respect the wishes of both climbers and of Native Americans for whom the site is sacred.
Your photo is so subtle, yet so rich that each time I look at it I discover another visual delight.
It is like an architectural winter landscape – whites, grays, shadows, blue sky, bits of color.
There are corresponding geometric shapes – rounded arches and dome – triangles of sky and shadow – the cross on the dome and the cross of the arch and wall.
I loved the pictures, KP. Especially being reminded of the beautiful Smokies/Appalachians. Seen every one of the “places” (Devil’s Tower, Walden, etc.) so many memories of a more innocent, less anxious time. And peaceful. Wouldn’t it be great to load up a group of Tribbers and go to all of those places and talk to the locals (who might be the stones and the flowers – not a bad audience at all.)

This one reminds me of Close Encounters. Great photos – thanks!
Old Spanish Mission, San Antonio, TX
I love the textures of the stone against the clear deep cerulean sky. Very very nice.
….and the centering of the cross through the window. Very nice.

Walden Pond, MA, where Thoreau wrote “Walden”
This one’s my favorite. It makes me either want to pack a lunch and go fishing, or lay on the grass and watch the clouds.
I loved Walden Pond – have a couple shots in my entry – you really captured the atmosphere well.
Great photo! Without the fence, one could drift into that scene and forget to come back out again.
