Beauty is Everywhere
Tiny wild flowers sprouting from between the tires of a long idle boat trailer. (Go for the close-up.)
Hi, Mrs. Gooserock!
I love this photo. Such color and wit. More, please?
Perfection in Simplicity
We had chickory in Ohio and, happily, I can still find it near our home on Puget Sound. A favorite old friend.
Natural Grasses.
Natural grasses frame a view of Port Townsend from Ebey’s Landing bluff.
A “Different” view of lowtide.
Barnacles appear on this dock post when the tide is low, revealing hidden beauty.
Rope on Post
When the whole scene is too grand to observe and absorb, try taking a look at just a small portion. Check out the fine details…moss, rope fibers…weathering on the wood post.
Details, details, beauty in the details.
Another example of isolating a small portion of the big picture.
Your pictures are delightful!
I agree with you on seeking beauty wherever I am. However, I mostly seek natural elements, especially when surrounded by a people-made environment – the “weed” growing through a crack in a parking lot.
What I forget is to see the beauty in the human-made. This photo was a powerful reminder to pay more attention to all my surroundings!
The colors are muted so I can really see the lines in this photo. I love the contrasting circle of the rope and the straight lines of the wooden boards. Then there is the texture of both with the contrasting smooth side of the boat.
I probably would have walked right on by this, focusing on water and sky – thanks for the lesson.
Even rust can be beautiful.
If you look at the smaller portion of the big rusty hulk, there are amazingly lovely things to see.
What an artistic eye you have!
View From the Top
Nature puts the finishing touches on this old wooden post.
If I was in the gallery, this is the one I’d go home with.
I’m somehow mesmerized by the 33 year epitaph of the post in relation to the almost mystical human lives in the distance.
Nature Wins Again
A chance glance out my livingroom window had me running for my camera. These are wave clouds over the Olympic Mtns. They lasted only a few minutes. What a gift to get to see them.
Love it! Nature’s a great artist, but you had the eye and the wits to save it for the rest of us.
That is amazing! I’ve never seen clouds in that formation. You’ve captured them beautifully.
Best Surprise of All
We had been having a rainy day on Puget Sound. The sun broke through and Gooserock said, “There will be a rainbow.” I was grumpy, it was still raining but I took the camera and went outside just to satisfy him. There was an incredible double rainbow over our house…too big for a single photo. Then I thought, “Gee, I wonder…” and turned around and snapped this sunset….the other side of the rainbow.
You are clearly a match for Mr. Gooserock (and probably in much more than photography).
I particularly liked “even rust can be beautiful” while Jim was completely smitten with “view from the top”.
Those are great photos. Me and Mr. Fab. are very different in what we like to photograph and have very different styles in how we go about getting our photo. It seems like you and Mr. G are the same. Both of you have great photos with different attention to details. I love it!
I love the approach and eye these photos show – great job.
Did my answer in my photo fair diary (AndiF) tell you what you wanted to know about panoramas?
With your eye and imagination, you would undoubtedly do really nifty things with that capability. I’m pretty standard in my approach — I just do them because I’m greedy and I want to see MORE.

You have a gift. These are beautiful.
Mrs. Gooserock, your pictures are georgous. I particularly love the close ups. You have an excellent eye for composition. Really nice diary!!!
