Thanks Deano. Yes, she is an awsome dog – even if I just went outside to take her picture, and had my cap blown off by the wind, and then run off with by Luna.
I swapped her my cap for one of her tug toys.
(You get a good look at her hind “snow shoes” with their extra toes, in this pic).
myriad doesn’t speak spanish (being from Australia – pero, yo soy de California del sur y Nuevo Mexico). But, sometimes she forgets to log-out on our shared computer.
Oh! A proud little colt! What a little fuzz-face. I’ve seen quite a few colts in my time but none more adorable! There is a farm near here that I pass by quite often and they have 2 miniature ponies. On a recent crisp autumn morning I had a chance to see them bucking and rearing and carrying on. It was quite a sight. This momma and baby would fit right in.
Lots o’ dogs here at my house. I posted pics today at the FBC, so I’ll just put a link to it here.
Puppies, puppies, puppies. Good lord they’re not easy. I left them upstairs in a bedroom for about an hour and when I went up to check what all the noise was, I discovered they’d eaten a big hole in the mattress! Troy’s gonna owe me for this. He’s an electrician – I’m thinking there must be some electrical jobs that need doing around here . . .
It doesn’t really pay to think about all the things my animals have distroyed.
I’m sure there’s a very large luxury item, or maybe a tropical vacation, that could have been bought with all the money I’ve spent repairing or replacing what my dogs, horses, goats, cats, rabbits, etc. have wrecked over the years.
Here’s my favorite-ever dog, Sparky the rescue Dalmatian. Among his many fine traits, he NEVER barks.
Sparky was turned in to the Santa Clara Humane Society when he was six to nine months old. They ran a battery of personality tests and deemed him unadoptable because he had “food aggression.” The test consisted of putting him in a room with a bowl of food, then taking the food and walking out of the room. Sparky followed the person to the door — hence, “food aggression.”
Fortunately, the final step before euthanization was to call Dalmatian Rescue to see if they would take him. He’s now a little over two, and there is no sweeter, gentler dog alive.
You may (or may not) remember back in august we were talking about skinks and I said I would have to wait until it got colder to get a picture when they come in the house and often end up in the bathtub. Well, it’s gotten colder and right on schedule —
This is a ground skink. I was hoping for a five-lined skink which are much more attractive. Ah well, there’s plenty of cold to come.
Happy Birthday, Keres. This is my first time dog-blogging, and it’s great here. Your animals are beautiful, especially Luna. That shot of the mini Momma and Colt blew me away with cuteness.
This is Scout, my friend’s dog. He came from the Humane Society and is a gentle soul. Here he is harrassing my koi fish. Perhaps the koi were harrassing him, but he truely loves fish. He had just smacked the water with his paw, trying to grab the fish. Twenty seconds after this shot was taken, he dove into the water after the fish.
Thanks, Andi. Nah, missed the actual dive. Chalk it up to digital delay. That’s the one thing I miss on a digital camera opposed to an SLR… that damn shutter delay. I do have a picture of him right after the dive, swimming merrily. But it doesn’t have the suspense of this shot.
Here’s our Toto-3. He has lived with us for one year now. He’s 13 1/2 years old. He’s a perfect buddy for Toto-2 who had lost his buddy (Toto-1). It is amazing to watch a rescue move into a home over a year’s time. He continues to become more loving and to feel freer to ask for things. Patience is the key….at least with older rescues. It’s well worth the time. What a joy!
But Mom! I’m just living up to my rock climbing heritage.
Sundancer, Queen of the Idaho outback and I just came in from another incredible Idaho sunset! Tonight’s offering was pastel blue with a pastel coral pink that became a neon coral pink the deeper the sun set behind the Sawtooth mountains in the West. Absolutely gorgeous. The sort of thing that nearly brings tears to your eyes it is so darn beautiful.
Sundancer is barking her Birthday wishes to you right now!
Happy B-day Keres, awesome dog.

What a coincidence!!
Today is Diana’s (my girlfriend) birthday too!
My first rottie’s name was also Luna.
HAPPY BITHDAY KERES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Y feliz cumpleaños Diana.

Looks like someone else thinks it’s her birthday as well.
Luna caught me filling the kibble bin – and helped herself.
This falls under the “we need a bigger house for the comfort of our pets” heading.
(I can’t wait till I’ve finished sanding and varnishing all the floors – which should only take another month at this rate.)
Someone’s mare (near us) just had a baby miniture horse. So today, I took my camera stopped by their place on my way home.

It must be love, cuz it ain’t sane.
Beautiful Akitas, btw.
is chewing and digging holes in carpet and linoleum. Which we no longer have! Yea! At least not in the parts of the house where he’s allowed.

Good dog! Sparky. And cute too.
Some of my best dogs have been rescues from the pound or from a private animal rescue organization. Quite a few of my cats, just “turned-up.”
One thing they all had in common, was a gratefullness for a secure and loving home.
Even the wild burro I adopted from the BLM in a very short time took to regular meals, water, and brushing, like she’d found heaven.

Andi, really…you shave the skinks that come into your house?
I’d love to see what they look like with a beard.
of course you’d want a shave as well.
Happy Birthday, Keres. This is my first time dog-blogging, and it’s great here. Your animals are beautiful, especially Luna. That shot of the mini Momma and Colt blew me away with cuteness.
and your horses have an open invitation to visit regularly.
Thanks Nag, and by all means bring your critters next time.
Also keres, not myriad, putting up the above post.

I can feel his muscles tensing. Do you have one of the dive, too?
Thanks, Andi. Nah, missed the actual dive. Chalk it up to digital delay. That’s the one thing I miss on a digital camera opposed to an SLR… that damn shutter delay. I do have a picture of him right after the dive, swimming merrily. But it doesn’t have the suspense of this shot.
Possum poo! Awwwww. Isn’t he cute? And he’s so proud of himself and happy to share with you. Ain’t love grand?

See how tall I am?
OMG, I’ve been blinded by cuteness.
How sweet! I guess everyone having the same first name saves your breath at dinnertime, huh?
