image and poem below the fold
This image made from television shows Iraqi Sajida Mubarek Atrous al-Rishawi opening her jacket and showing an explosive belt as she confesses on Jordanian state-run television Sunday Nov. 13, 2005 to her failed bid to set off an explosives belt inside one of the three Amman hotels targeted by al-Qaida. Fifty-seven people were killed on Wednesday’s attack on three Amman hotels. It can not be confirmed that this is the actual belt used in the failed attempt on Wednesday .

The General
by Siegfried Sassoon
“Good-morning, good-morning!” the General said
When we met him last week on our way to the line.
Now the men that he smiled at are most of ’em dead,
And we’re cursing his staff for incompetent swine.
“He’s a cheery old card,” grunted Harry to Jack
As they slogged up to Arras with rifle and pack.
But he did for them both by his plan of attack.

I took the link and passed it on.
I have a friend who is a Marine who got the “very cold shoulder” from all those “We support the troops” a-holes. He went back to his base early from leave time – he couldn’t stand to be around them anymore.
Amazingly good summation about supporting the troops-for all the unthinking yellow ribbon ‘supporters’….and informationclearinghouse(and truthout)are the best emails to get daily if you want good articles not found anywhere else.
Peace

VIDEO SPECIAL | Arlington West: Veterans Speak Out
The Peace Movement continues to grow. Interviews with Ron Kovic (Vietnam veteran and author of “Born on the 4th of July”) and others on Veterans Day weekend, 2005.
The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complaceny to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependency back again into bondage.

Earthquake Relief:
Nov 12, 2005:
The NYCMEDIC has just returned from it’s
initial deployment in the Jehlum Valley,
Muzaffarabad district of Kashmir. As the
most forward deployed medical team, the
NYCMEDIC reached earthquake victims who shockingly had not received medical
attention since the October 8th event.
