Diane Said:
Ok, due to some thoughts and requests on the I Remember When diary, I am puffing up my muscles and dragging this big old Welcome Wagon in here today….Was it missed?
Here’s the deal, whether you just came here a week ago, a month ago or have been here from the beginning, come over here now and tell us all about you, or what you care to share. Remember, newbies don’t know about you if they just got here, so tell again, if you’ve told before…
Also I am happy to announce that our welcome wagon gift baskets are all lined up and ready to give out, they are filled with all kinds of goodies…
Me, I’m a little old lady in Pasadena, er…..Santa Ana, but nearly the same. 62, semi-retired and about to undergo a move of my own soon, that will be new and different and I feel a great change in my life for the good. In previous versions of my life I was an antique dealer, a mother of 5, grandmother to many, executive in a Trust Administration Firm, nanny, and oh so many other things…Didn’t identify as a Dem. until Clinton, not an early liberal, wanted to be independent and besides I came from a solid Rep. background..I like to think they would have all turned to if they lived to see the day.
So enough about me, let’s hear about you, and I mean all of you……please!!!!!

Re: New or Old~Tell Us About You (4.00 / 14)
Hey folks, notice this diary and come on over.
Someone has to start and get this off the ground, oldtimers, you remember the drill right.
Old or new…
Doorway to the ~~Village Blue~~ Come on over for a visit!
Older than the Sun and younger than the rain. . .I AM Xena. . . oops, Shirlstars, The Warrior Mother here!
I am the 65 year old kick ass lesbian Goddess of web-footed-trib-participants. . .And I love all of you, old, new and middle point nutcases more than I can say. . .but you know I keep trying!! If I could just find the words. . . .(and for those of you that haven’t met me yet, [is that possible?] you will soon see what most can say in 25 words or less, I will make a 10 part diary series out of). . .No one has ever mentioned my name in the same breath as the word brief.
I live in the SE wonderland outback of Idaho in a very small rural community. I am the ultimate radical bleeding heart progressive socialist liberal or URBHPSL!! And have been since I was born this time around. I am the resident Metaphysical loony and I don’t mind expressing my far out spiritual opinions any more than my far out lefty political opinions.
I have been most every there, and done most every that over the years, and I have posted the multi-part series telling more than you ever want to know about it all over the blogs for your entertainment, dining and dancing pleasure. BooMan has been magnanimous in allowing me to hang around the Frog Pond and I remember many of you from the orange place and helped work Triage during the refugee days.
diane101 took me in early on and has been working on me ever since, but I have this stubborn resistance to becoming respectable. She tolerates me anyway. I have adopted some of you cutiepies here, I have wild crushes and imaginary affiars of the heart. . .eh hem. . .with some of you here (you know who you are) and most of the time I am just in awe of this whole collection of bright, funny, articulate, amazing, loving, caring, pissed-off, determined group that calls BooMan Trib home.
The boring stuff: Despite all evidence to the contrary, I am educated in Psychology BA, Religious Studies(MA) and if I ever can stay off the blogs long enough just about finished with my Piled Higher and Deeper in Metaphysics. . .just goes to show you. . .they’ll give them to anyone! LOL!
My often humorously intended comments are missed by some (diane), so please don’t take offense at anything I write. If it sounds offensive 97% chance I was trying to make a joke.
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome Everyone.
Big, Big Hugs
Shirl
Damn! And I thought that I could be able to write a book about some of the experiences that I have had and the people that I have met when I lived in SW Detroit!!
I think you damn well CAN! So let’s see it SK. . .I can’t wait for the series to begin!!!!!
Shirl
No one would believe that it was non-fiction!!!!!
LMAO remembering!!
I never let that stop me. . .you shouldn’t either. LMAO with you. . .so we are two ass-less froggies wading at the edge of the pond. . .or perhaps have gone over the edge, who’s to say?
Serious, I want to hear your outrageous stories. . .Bring ’em on!
Will have to be another day. Library’s closing. LMAI just thinking about ’em!
I love it!
Soooo good to hear your voice around here. It ain’t home without you Shirl :o)
“crushes and imaginary affairs of the heart”…..yes ;o)
…and btw, where do I sign up for the inter-galactic flight school you mentioned yesterday? Cuz I’ll fly anywhere with you Shirlstars :o)
Shirlstars’, Stairway to the Stars, Soaring and supercalifragilisticexpealidotious Flight training is coming to a Froggy Bottom Cafe near you. . .SOON! If not, a supercilious spontanious soaring solicitation shall sumptuously show itself as a new diary!
yes affairs of the heart. . . .
Good to be seen. . .watch closely now. . . . stardust is saturating the stratosphere. . .
Love you big time
I’m a happily middle aged woman – 50 next week – living north of SF and a practicing Celtic Pagan. Married for 23 years to a wonderful man – who appreciates my whacky personality. I’m usually too serious and usually mess up punch lines to jokes. I have one adult stepchild and 2 absolutely adorable grandchildren.
Passions are reading – anything except horror – and a focus on U.S. history colonial to revolution. My focus is how economics were the basis for revolution at the working and middle class…not religion. I love hanging out any place in the mountains, BIG whitewater rafting – class IV preferred. I’ve started my own blogspot – see the sig line – and teaching myself html to move to a formal web site January ’06.
For relaxation I garden…currently just a small patch of organic veggies in my suburban yard.
I’ve been politically active for years in local politics – extremely so in state and national politics the past 18 months and going forward. Currently Treasurer / Board Member of Buy Blue…see the website for corporate bios if you want more “real life” info.
I love teaching my grand-kidlets about all this stuff, and nature, and rafting, and reading just for fun.
I love fantasy art work, dragons, faeries, elves, and anything otherworldly….welcome to my faery raft!
Oh Boy! The SallyCat Birthday Bash is coming next week!!! Awesome. . .we will dance like no one is watching, we will sing, we will laugh we will do the hoochie coo. . .What a celebration in the Universe. I can’t wait!
It is sure a good thing your hubby appreciates your whacky personality, cuz we would have to hurt him if he didn’t. We, of course, LOVE IT!!
We love so many of the same things, Mz Sally! Sure am glad to take the adventures with you.
Big Hugs,
Shirl
Even better I’m taking the day off to indulge in croissants, brie, Mimosa’s, and Belgian chocolate…and blogs…and that’s breakfast!
Yummy!! Seth and I kinda did that one Christmas day when we were in WI and not with families in CT. It was SOOOO nice. We went X-C skiing with the then-much-younger dogs… came back home around noon. Opened gifts while sipping wine and eating croissants and brie… A wonderful day.
Sounds like you have a beautiful day planned for yourself Sally. Good for you!!
May I be your waiter – ess? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds nummy, nummy, nummy. Just like you
Gee, my words (in diary), Shirls name on it, I don’t know where I am, is this what it’s like to live in the stars, Shirley..even a comment with my words and Shirls name, wow…
Get used to it Luv, this is indeed what living in the stars will do for you. . . .btw. . .I will do a FBC Shirlstars Starflight diary any day you need me. . .
nice to see you us and taking nourishment (LOL)
it is also nice to see you UP and taking nourishment. . . .(starlag)
Notice that I refrained from saying, “We are all ONE, Diane.”
I’m hardly new but not as old as some. Since my present circumstances are unremarkable (forty something husband and father of a, umm, lively 6 year old boy, living in New York’s Hudson valley), a somewhat more interesting story is how I came to blogging. It was sometime after the last election and lovely Ann Coulter had spewed her latest hatefest. I became enraged (just as she would have it) and for some reason googled her name along with the word “idiot”. A dkos diary came up (the name of which is lost to the mists of time) and I clicked on it. I registered there and started posting. So began my blogging career, such as it is. Eventually, after putting it off for some time, I registered here. The rest is, as they say, history. (or herstory if you prefer.) I started my own blog which gives me some pleasure, if not much in the way of site traffic. I paint in acrylics when I have the time, love antiques, reading, and now politics and blogging. I am still trying to learn snowboarding and went as far as getting my own used board. (An old Burton!) I am an assistant county attorney in a nearby county but should have been trained as an artist. (But it’s never too late, I guess.)
Oh my gosh, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE!!! I love your painting with acrylics diaries. And I am even thinking about taking up the brushes again after “lo these many years” You have a lot you can teach me. I think I’m still teachable. . .we’ll see. I’m probably finally at a place where I can let myself learn.
What a busy life you have. Sure glad that you decided to dip your toe in the frog pond!
We love ya here.
Hugs
Shirl
If you’ve painted before, you might be teaching me! I’m glad that we’ve all made it over here after reading the tales of the old, old days. Hugs to you, Shirl!
Oh my dear! I am really ROFLMAO over that thought! I did take private lessons from a very well known Utah artist at one time. . .I could never get past the sketching stage. . .he said I was very slow. Where have I heard that before? He did get me to understand that painting and drawing are all light and shadow, there are no lines. So you can see I wasn’t the quickest study. Nor the most promising student. It was too frustrating to me at the time. I had all these pictures in my head I wanted to transfer to the canvas, paper, whatever. . .but I didn’t want the learning curve. I wanted to do it NOW!
I think I’ve moved along from that bratty teenage view.
If I didn’t have so much stardust between my ears, I would be able to remember his name. . .we’ll see if it is floating around in the universe somewhere that I can grab it.
Hi everyone. I’m 45 and I live in St. Louis where I practice law (corporate mergers and acquisitions — I’ve never set foot in a courtroom except for jury duty). I guess I’ve been a Democrat since I was born — the first campaign I remember working on was Tom Eagleton’s first campaign for senate when I was seven years old. When I was a kid I wanted to be an archaeologist — and I still wish I had done it!. I’m a big reader of pretty much anything but my love is good historical fiction. My current hobby is French colonial history which I took up to help my dad with his genealogy research and then fell in love with. I fell away from politics in my thirties but after the 2000 election I knew I had to get involved again. I admit to being a Deaniac, but I strongly supported Kerry. I’ve been lurking here on and off for a while, but finally decided that was rude and thought I’d register. The front page stuff here is very good and I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent here.
Mary
Mary! Welcome to the Wild and Wonderful Web-footed haven, the Frog Pond!! We are really glad to see you here and even happier to see that you decided to join us outloud.
I couldn’t agree more about the front pages here. They are some really fine writing and well researched pieces. I hope you will feel like contributing often with whatever strikes your fancy. If they will put up with my stuff here, they will welcome anything you might want to share with us.
If you have been lurking for a while, then you are probably familiar with the Froggy Bottom Cafe. There is always someone there to chat with, unload on, be silly or just enjoy the company. Visit often.
Welcome, Welcome!!
Big Hugs
Shirl
Thanks Shirl.
I’ve peered into the window of the cafe and I’ll walk through the door soon.
You know, you may be the first person from Idaho that I’ve ever talked to … that’s the thing I love about blogs, you can virtually visit parts of the country that you’ve never visited in person.
Mary
ATTENTION UNIVERSE! I am currently the most Fabulous Idaho person that Mary knows! Ahhh. . .that felt good! Sorry about puting words in your mouth, but I just love a good opening. . .don’t you?
Yes it is just awesome that we get to meet up with such delectible people on the blogs. That is part of why these welcome diaries are so darn much fun. Everyone is so interesting and we get to visit new places where they are and pry into their lives. . .well, not really pry, LOL, but have a little view of them.
We’ll be waiting to see you in the Cafe whenever you have the time and inclination.
Hi Mary and welcome:o)
Just a friendly reminder that Shirl is our….how can I say this affectionately…Sky Pilot. Yeah, that’s it :o)
…and speaking of virtual visits, visiting with Shirl only begins in Idaho. Idaho is the boarding platform. If you hang around, you’ll find out why we all love her so much :o)
Hi Mary – I used to live in St. Louis back in the early 70’s. I think it was a bad part of town – way down Grand Blvd on Itaska St. I loved it while I was there though. I used to work at Deaconess hospital. At least it was called that then. One thing I wished I had seen while I was there were the Indian mounds not far from there. Just as you I wanted to be an archaeologist.
I grew up on Itaska — although further west, in St. Louis Hills. So I know the area where you lived really well. And the girl who lived next door to me went to nursing school in the seventies at Deaconess. You know its not Deaconess anymore? The UCC couldn’t keep it going so first they entered into a joint venture with Incarnate Word Hospital and then they sold out to Tenet. It’s called Forest Park Hospital now. Grand has become very diverse these days with a big Vietnames and Bosnian population — which is kind of nice. Good restaurants. Although that’s a little north of where you were. Nearer to Tower Grove Park. Why’d you move away?
My wife was from Mobile, Al and became very homesick. So we picked up and moved back there.
The first night we were moving there we got lost from our friends and ended up in East St. Louis. We got turned around and pulled into the parking lot of the church by the tower. They were having a wedding there and didn’t want to let us into the parking lot. We went anyway to use a pay phone that was there. We called our friends who lived in Florissant and they gave us directions. That first night I thought I want to get out of this city, but as I said I really enjoyed it for the short time I was there.
I seem to remember a Restaurant that was owned by Vincent Price around our area. Was it the actor or someone else?
Greetings, Mary! I’m a former St. Louis lawyer (and Wash. U. law alum). Welcome to the Pond!
I wrote in this morning and I thank Dianne for being so nice. I’m new to all this and it was a relief not to be shot down on one of my first tries.
Since I am so new I really don’t know how to rate, recommend or anything else. Earlier I put a few comments on the Joe Scarborough diary. It was in response to susanhu. I agreed with all she said, but when I left, I didn’t know if I did something wrong by not rating.
I really do think the New or Old ~ Tell Us About YOU~ is a great idea. I probably would have still been lurking with my toes touching the water. After this morning I’ve jumped in the pond and still don’t know if it’s a belly flop or a three and a half gainer (as if I ever could).
I’m not a good writer, but I do have opinions and I would like to express, discuss, and yes even argue sometimes about them. So I’m always ready to take pointers on what I write.
I’m in the water and the water is fine.
We were all new to this once upon a time. . .so don’t worry, you’ll catch on fast. You are never expected or required to rate anything, no matter how fabulous you think it is. But it is sort of nice to show your appreciation for someone’s comment if you think it was especially worthwhile, or if you are in the Froggy Bottom Cafe. . .everything there is 4-worthy. We call it MOJO, but it is just love and we like to pass it on.
The tradition here is if it is a comment worth rating, then it is worth a 4. Otherwise, most of us just don’t rate it at all no matter how troll-worthy or disagreeable we may think it is. That is not to say that you may not rate anyone anything you feel is appropriate, but we just don’t care much for those rating wars we have experienced on other “colored” blogs.
At the bottom of anyones comment, there is a box with a small down arrow in it that says “none”. If you click that down arrow, it will give you a choice from 0-4. Click on the appropriate number and then click the “rate all” box to the right of that. There you go!
A clue about giving out a number of 4’s to a series of comments. When in the cafe, you just click on the 4 on each comment and when you are all the way through the list then click on “rate all” It will record all of the 4’s you rated.
Don’t hesitate to ask any of us anything. If we don’t know we will make something up. . .LOL. . .no, we will find an answer for you.
Welcome Welcome, glad to see you here!
Heehee… I love giving out mojo, if you haven’t noticed. 🙂
As with anything I’ll take all the mojo I can get. Never do anything in half steps and as the old song title said “Take it to the Limit”.
Exspress away Family Man. I think you’ll find your opinions, thoughts and feelings about things will find a warm welcome here.
Did you say earlier that you’re a Grandfather? ;o)
Just write like you talk, say what you think, and you’ll be fine. It gets easier and the writing gets better as you practice, just like it does with anything else.
Welcome to the pond. I’m sort of hit-and-miss when it comes to posting but I read the site quite a bit. I like the fact that, being off the beaten path, we don’t get into a lot of fistfights over here. When we do, I tend to avoid them and jump back in when everything calms down.
Love me or leave me, that is a current recent motto. Also never say never, cuz I’ve found that one to be too true. Hi all!!
I noticed you over there being you! Well, I love you and I will never leave you so let that sink to the bottom of your lily pad. And never is only used when describing that delicious place “Never-Never Land”
Hi y’all yourself. . . your use of 4’s is exquiste, by the way.
Shucks… I’m flattered…
You forgot all that good stuff about puppy sitting – Jasper will be absolutely devastated!!
Have we met yet?
;o)
You’re still up??
Foooooootbaaaaaall LOL!
Besides, I’ve got 5 or 6 minutes before I turn into a big ass pumpkin ;o)
HAHAHA… You know it!!! I’ve been chatting in the cafe this evening, do you do that?
Which cafe is that?
I go to the dKos Cheers and Jeers group… I’m snarky, and tend to stick to those folks there. Do you guys have a chat here or no?
No chat here. This is as close as it gets. C&J, never been there. Is it all snark, all the time?
OMG YES!!! I’ll email you the link tomorrow. It’s a fucking snarkfest… I love those guys!
Michael, my love, we have the Froggy Bottom Cafe which is as chatty at times as any place I know.
Come one come all to the FBC. . .you’ll like it I know!
Or I just IM with some of my friends individually… It’s all good. Damn, I think Martha says that…
Martha…evil woman!
I’m not real good with IM. Don’t type fast enough. Besides if I’m close enough with someone to IM with, I’m close enoughto pick up the phone and do some real IMing ;o)
That’s always good too! 🙂
you’ve been hanging out in the Toy Shopping thread too long… 😉
It’s a good thread… 😉
Who? ME?
You must have me confused with some other tiptoeing, slightly shy commenter on that diary ;o)
HAHA… We all know you were there…
Hey, a guy can dream on Christmas can’t he?
or st. patty’s day, or easter, or hanukkah, or kwanza, or new years… well, you get the picture… 😉
Ya got me!
I am exposed!
Which is different than exposing myself….jeez
Good grief…
EeeeeYah. I’m grievin now that my stellar reputation is all shot to shit.
Shouldn’t you two be over in C&J since you’re both snark queens?
Well, C & J isn’t around til the morning… and I’m just snarky and with no one to snark to now… Damn. And what is this stellar reputation you speak of? 🙂
I defy you to find one frog in this pond who would give you anything less than a glowing report about me. Go ahead. Check It Out LOL
ahem… see below 😉
Isn’t it past your bedtime? 😉
darling, you assume you had a stellar reputation to begin with…
Well that’s the beauty of the internet isn’t it?
Yet….there is a record ;o)
I’ve got your record right here, big boy.
Yikes! Three girls and little ole me. Sounds like a title to a movie that could be found in a certain Christmas shopping thread!
You’re just up too late tonight…
Uh huh right…
You just can’t handle me ;o)
HAHAHA… Hardly… 😉
Are you ladies done toying with me now? As much as I’m enjoying tangling with you, the truth is I am up past my bedtime ;o) and I need to finish my intro thingy for the thread here. That’s what I was doing when I was accosted, but it’s a good way to end the day…with a great big smile :o)
Tee-hee… OK, FINE… we’ll let you go… for now. You are past your bedtime and need your rest for tomorrow.
Have I told you yet what a divine pleasure it is to know you?
I didn’t think so ;o)
Well it is.
I think I’ve said you are my sweetie, yes, thank you.
Alright…ahhh I can sleep now :o)
Goodnight Shermanesqe
Goodnight Spiderleaf, wherever you are ;o)
and last, but way, WAY, WAAYYYY not least,
goodnight Shirl, I do love you
I’ve just been enjoying watching you try to get out of this… quite amusing.
night supersoling and all… see ya tomorrow. 😉
Why on earth would I ever want to get out of a jam like this? ;o)
Goodnight
Sweet dreams Sweetie…
Really?????
I thought that was a pull toy for a minute there.
Ooh Ooh
You’re gonna get it ;o)
Threats and promises,
threats and promises,
I’ve heard them so often
Sighs. . .
What’s the matter? Am I sending mixed signals?
There’s nothing wrong with your signals
Big guy. . .I just love to tease you. . .
I am using my secret de-coder ring right
now to make sure I’ve got it all in the
proper order.
You know how it is with me
Hopelessly in love
Good night
Sweet Dreams
and stardust on your pillow
Shirl
…and lord knows, that’s where it shall remain. Yes?
Link?
tsk, tsk, I would never tell… just keep him talking and you’ll find out soon enough 😉
🙂 OK, thanks for the advice! 😉
very private stuff. . .I could not in good conscience. . .reveal. . .I’ve said too much already.
O M G Shirl!
O M G Indeed! And thanks for noticing (the God thing)
Excuse me,
*God*dess ;o)
Goddess… you got that damn right!
Of course he can, and also on the remaining 364 days…
I could hardly resist the absolute warmth you convey, Shirl. Thank you so much for this particular hearty welcome.
I’ve taken peeks into the Frog Pond now & again since it first came alive, having followed the common path from dKos. What better time than now to allow this warm, watery light to catch my eyes’ reflection & be seen?
Briefly, in greeting: I live in a woodland setting in the Catskill Mountains, where nature plays an essential part in keeping me conscious. A birth certificate in my possession states that I was born on a summer’s day in 1960; it also states that I’m restricted in gender. Fie on all that.
More, as they say, shall be revealed. Hello, everyone.
Hey WW!
Hey there, deano. Thanks for your welcome.
No problem, great to see new people here.
I just can’t resist. . .but your name says it all for me! giggles. . .however, I will spare you my charming and witty reparte until you know me better. . .I am not supposed to run people off from here, but to make them feel very welcome. And that Diane will be hollering at me all the way from Souther Cal if I don’t mind my manners.
Really glad to welcome you here and now you are a person of true mystery. . .I can’t wait to hear more. Restricted, eh? People have tried to restrict my gender from time to time, but it just never took. . .LOL
Hugs and welcome welcome
Shirl
LOL I hear you on the restrictions, dear.
So pleased to have gotten your reply — alas, ’tis late in our wilderness haven & I may tarry no longer. Time for my late-night breakfast, then repose.
Welcome WW,
Love your name and want to live where you live. It’s such beautiful country up there. I live downstate on the North Fork of Long Island. It’s beautiful here too but I’m the type of guy who needs forests and mountains to explore as much as bays and oceans.
:o)
what to say, what to say… not much, I’m just a spider trolling around the internets shit disturbing when I can, sometimes with useful things to say, sometimes with some snark and useful things to say. I also can’t be pinned down to a typical “democrat” or “liberal” or “socialist” POV ’cause I take each situation as it comes and go from there… But all in all just a regular person like all of us.
Okay, I’ll own up to being 32 though even though most on the site would lump me in with the youngens over at the orange place 😉 (I kid, really I do, nobody makes me feel badly for being youngish ~ how could they, I’m a superstar… okay, not really, just in my own mind… I’m certainly no BooMan that’s fer sure)
Other than that, I used to live in the states, moved back to Canada a bit before the bombs started dropping on Afghanistan.
Love hockey and my Maple Leafs… which would be the “leaf” part of my handle… the “spider” part was my dad’s goalie nickname back in the day.
… I think that about covers it… did I leave anything out? Let me know, sometimes I think you guys know more about me than I do… 😉
Take it from the StarGoddess, YOU ARE A SUPERSTAR!, and we do know more about you than you do. What we know we just adore, and love your snarky ‘lil butt wherever you show it. . .oops. . .treading on thin ice here. . .(looks over shoulder to see if Diane 101 is lurking in the shadows. . . )
Still waiting for my autograph from you Spidey. . .
Big Hockey gloved hug
Shirl
You mean you didn’t get it yet… damn Canada Post. 😉
Spiderleaf – I’ve only been up to Canada once when I was a baggage boy on a tour bus during high school. We went up to Calgary and over to Vancouver. The people I met were extremely nice and warm. I regret never having seen more than that small part of Canada. Don’t know much about hockey being from Alabama, except there seems to be a lot of fighting. I know you probably get to much of it, but down here during the winter we pray for just a little dusting of snow. When you can mail some down this way.
Take care
yeah, I’m about to settle in for a nice long….cold…. winter so the snow thing gets old fast 😉
I know what you mean. The same thing with summers down here. It’s good being in a warm place, but when it stays at 95 to 100 degrees, it gets old.
Bundle up and stay warm.
I just wandered in here from Orangeville yesterday, following the link to the dKos discussion. Something of a chaos junkie, so probably won’t leave there, but will undoubtedly be hanging out here as well. I usually just read, but occasionally see something that piques my interest and feel compelled to share my ignorance.
I’m 56, live in rural Illinois, am employed in manufacturing (technical services dept.). My wife is an educator, as are my two sisters and a brother. We’re empty nesters with three kids out on their own (but may have one moving back in next month).
I grew up in a Republican farm family, was scared left by Goldwater, and went w-a-a-a-y far left during Vietnam. I fancy myself an independent, although I’ve never voted for a Republican to the best of my recollection. Barry Commoner? Sure, why not? Oh–and to all those conservative voters in Gridley 2 who’ve been eyeing each other with suspicion for the last 20-some years wondering which one was the SOB who voted for the Socialists…? Well, just keep working on it. I’m sure you’ll flush him out eventually.
We gladly accept wanderer’s here and we do not restrict your movements about the Internet. . .we are happy to have you no matter where else you might hang out.
Welcome, really glad to see you here at the Frog Pond! Wiggle your flippers and make yourself at home.
in my introduction yesterday . . .
I knew susanhu in a previous life, long before Booman Tribune. We used to ride the same bus from Redmond to Seattle back when we were both contracting at Microsoft. She has since moved out to the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the lucky so-and-so, and I . . .
well, I still sometimes ride that same bus.
Hi Omir!! You and SusanHu knew each other?? How neat!
Hiya Sherm. Yeah, it was kind of odd. I sort of wondered if it was her, based on a couple of clues in things Susan had written, but we only figured it out a couple of months ago. I might have guessed earlier had I really put two and two together and figured out that she could have moved from Seattle to Port Angeles (which is in fact what happened).
I kept meaning to write in the last part, but then it got so big, and I didn’t. I saw this earlier, but I had to take my kid to karate and sure enough, now that I’m home, it is another huge thread! :>)
I’ve written an intro before, but what the heck. I’m totally adicted to BT. I must log on a dozen times a day. It is always the first place I check in the morning.
I’m 39, born on the 4th of July. I currently live in Oakland, CA, across the Bay from San Francisco. I came to this part of the country from Lancaster PA after being threatened by the KKK.
I first got into politics in the 80’s protecting womens’ health clinics and marching in pro-choice and anti-nuke rallies. I kinda thought we won the battle until I realized that we pretty much lost the abortion battle and we are closer to seeing another nuke drop than perhaps ever. Arggh!
I am a total Science Fiction geek. I probably read three or four SF novels a week.
For many years, I was hooked on magick and mysticism, and still practice Paganism. I even went so far as to start my own cult! :>) (www.autonomatrix.org) It’s still going, but I am much less involved with it these days.
I have a truly awesome kid, Cypress, whom I love to death. She’s 11, studying to be an actress and almost a black belt in Karate.
Hugs to y’all. I hope we always keep such a warm and welcoming place.
Hugs indeed!!! They make the world go ’round…
The thread will never get too HUGE for you KAM! Great to see you again. Sounds like a great kid you have. Remember us all when she is famous and we will pretend we knew her when. . .”why yes, I know her father, distinguished fella by the name of Kam. . .”
Thanks for the hugs and back to you and your fabulous daughter, Cypress. . .love her name, btw!
Thanks Shirlstars! I’m totally psyched to see you posting again. I so want to see your mountain!
FWIW: Kamakhya is a Hindu Goddess. It translates roughly to “She whose eyes radiate with lust”. Hence, when Cypress is famous, you can all say “I knew her mom back in the day”! ;>)
The mountain! We’ll go there during our flight training coming soon to BMT. Silver laced clouds slumbering at the tops of Goddess silhouetted mountains. . .yes, indeed, we will go there.
Her MOM. . .of course, her MOM. . .sometimes it is hard to see through the stardust clearly. . .LOL
have you ever read susan matthews?
exchange of hostages is one of my facvorite books and the best in that series
she sent me some stuff years ago that she wrote under a pen name because she thought if people found out she wrote more homoerotic sado masochistic stuff she wouldnt be able to get published anymore.
and it was really hot stuff too
I’m a 54ish home craft/micro-manufacturing person outsourced out of midwest university computer support some years ago. I don’t write diaries because I no longer have the luxury of sitting at computers and composing thoughts. I do lob comments into a warmer-colored blog sporadically, mostly about the ways our system makes it easier in the modern world for evil than good to prosper.
Politics: One day I stumbled into this:
so I decided to vote for the other side till they start shooting at me. So far that hasn’t happened.
My goofy wife Puget4 decided to move us to Puget Sound because when I started my craft shop I was portable. Plus she knows I like cool temperatures, rain and salt water.
This is me at play in the Sound. I used to teach little kids in these boats on Lake Erie.
We have Twa Totos [Twa is Scots pronounciation of ‘two’]
