On my recent diary Torture as Terrorism. Torture as Spin. Shock and Awe. For EVERYBODY, Revel8n commented:
That made me think a little.
Who really did throw the first stone?
And why?
Here’s what I came to. Read on…
What we have here is really a feedback system of terror.
You know how feedback works in a microphone->amplifier->speaker->microphone system? That terrible screeching you sometimes hear coming out of a PA?
A sound…ANY sound, even the sound of air passing by…is picked up by a mic, routed through the amp and out of the speakers; the mic picks up that sound, routes it once again through the amp and speakers and there you are once again, off to the races.
“ScaaaareeeEEEEECH!!!“
So the problem is not who made the first noise or who dealt the first “terrorist” blow…the PROBLEM is how to break that cycle. In point of fact this modern “terrorism” started long ago, when the British and Germans vied for power and control of the oil in the Middle East, and the real amplifying principle is and always has been economic imperialism.
The best way to stop an acoustic feedback system is to simply turn off the amplifier. And that amplifier in the Middle East is the United States at present. The echoes of this big noise we have caused would reverberate for a while after we left the scene, but eventually they too would die down.
And why don’t we do that?
Leave?
Because the elitist leaders of this country…the REAL movers and shakers, the immensely wealthy…do not trust the people of the United States to do the right thing. To pull in our belts, suck it up and go back to work after 60 years or so of living off of the results of work done by the people of the Depression/WW II era. Work that was done out of sheer necessity because…yup, you guessed it…those same elitists fucked up big time in the ’20s and before.
So they keep the feedback system in place.
“Terrorize” the people of the Third World with whatever comes to hand…covert ops, overt military invasions, continuous economic pressure…in order to achieve the immensely favorable trade positions that are absolutely necessary to prop up the fantasyland of consumerism inside of which almost all Americans live. And that feedback system just keeps getting louder and louder and louder and louder.
Do you know what happens when a feedback system goes completely out of control?
Eventually the speakers break.
But before that, if the amplifier and speakers are strong enough, the people in the room will go deaf. And then go crazy as well. And if those amps and speakers were REALLY strong, they could produce enough noise to kill all of the living creatures in the immediate area. Literally. Blow ’em all up real good using just sound.
That is where we are heading, people. Our “leaders” get more and more efficient in hyping the people of the United States into obedience to their wishes, and more and more determined to keep the amplifier on in the Middle East and in fact throughout the rest of the Third World as well.
And we are all going to pay the price if we do not succeed in interfering with this feedback system RIGHT NOW.
Perhaps the Fitzgerald/Rove thing will cripple it. That is the eventuality on which at least some of the elite seem to be counting. I mean…Fitzgerald has to have SOME power backing him or he would already have been busted down to prosecuting traffic ticket fixes in Oklahoma City or someplace, right? You don’t get to the point where you can depose the President of the United States without some SERIOUS backup, after all.
But we must ask the question…
So?
What’s next?
Let us say that the whole neo-con gang is either busted or at least so seriously injured that they are no longer major policy players in DC.
THEN what?
Does that turn off the terrorism amp? Or merely turn it down a notch, so that the feedback system continues but at a lower level.
For a while.
Until it builds back up again.
“ScaaaareeeEEEEECH-ing!!!” its ass off once more.
Business as usual.
Or…we can turn the whole damned system off and go acoustic. Get down and dirty. Roll up our sleeves and start working. Get off of the international dole. Free the damned slaves and start working in the fields of the Lord ourselves once again.
The next two election cycles will tell the tale.
Do we once more elect the Reverend Ikes of this world, the ones who tell us to get ours now, while the getting is good? With ice cream on top?
Or do we start listening to the voices of sanity? The Feingolds, the Deans, people like John Conyers and Dennis Kucinich.
We shall see.
The hype is on already.
You can hear Small k kerry flapping his gums once again.
Frontrunner Joe Loverman is vying for a place at the kinder, gentler table of continuing oppression.
Oppression Lite.
Secretary of Pretense being his preferred position.
Senator Joe II. Tailrunner Joe.
While Senator Joe III…the Senator from the fine state of MBNAland…is just bidin’ his time, hoping for a nomination so’s his hairplugs won’t have gone totally to waste.
Whadda buncha maroons!!!
We shall see…

who plays saxophone with a very popular jazz/rock fusion band.
Amplified music.
One day they were at a soundcheck, preparing for the night’s concert in a hall somewhere. Usually it’s the rhythm section that takes most of the time in these sound check situations. They’re the ones that are MOST amplified.
The horn players were just sitting around in the hall, waiting for their turn, and there was an older Asian-looking guy sweeping up while they waited. Maybe Filipino…
Wherever he was from, he was clearly bugged. As he did his work, he kept shaking his head and muttering something that sounded like maybe a Tagalog word. “Tugaddalau. Tugaddalau.” They didn’t pay him much mind…just another slightly crazy janitor, more than likely.
But then he walked right up to my friend, looked him directly in the eye, and said “Tugaddalau!!!” as he put his fingers in his ears.
“Too goddamned loud!!!”
Yup.
Always loved that story.
Well…maybe that’s all the “terrorists” are trying to tell us as well.
Our economic imperialist engine/amplifier has gotten turned up to 11, and it’s “Tugaddalau!!!”.
Tips and recs and comments welcomed.

That too loud comment sounded like The al-cia-d’uh problem we’ve been having the past few decades.
So, let me ask you. What do we do if the path we find in following the money leads right back to Virginia?
What do we do?
Tell Virginia that there IS a Santa Claus, but he’s a Shi’ite nun.
What do we do?
I don’t know…go ask the intel guys who psst on the front page here.
THEY should know…
Right?
AG
No luck there, no answer anyway.
That’s who I asked first.
We need to identify the terrorist threat in terms of some majority agreement as to approximately what it is.
No answer?
I’ve noticed that too, from Col. Lang.
Mildly abusive, derogative and “I am your superior, how DARE you question me” two liners.
But never an answer.
I wonder if they are taught that tactic or if it is simply a genetic imperative.

It wasn’t him in particular and I find all the professionals to be beyond my criticism as it relates to conversations here. Of course, you already know you’re welcome to have a differing opinion and the right to express it. I know we agree on that.
Trouble is, it’s a government agency, paid by tax dollars and bases it’s success on effective deception. That would be fine if it didn’t become corrupted and evolve to be a major part of the problem.
