First week bye in the NFC playoffs.
It’s a definite possibility.
What’s up with Indianapolis? That game isn’t televised here, but it looks like they’re having a lot of trouble with the Chargers. Down 13-0 at half!
I almost choked when I turned the game on and saw they hadn’t scored at ALL!!! Gack!
That’s gotta be the first time this season that they’ve been held scoreless for a half, right?
They had to know this game was going to be tough. San Diego is a good team, and they are fighting to even get into the playoffs.
You could very well be correct. The Colts are showing some life now… finally!
As long as Marvin Harrison doesn’t do TOO much…
It’s funny how fantasy football changes the way you watch and root.
Colts+Fantasy=collapse ;o)
My fantasy is the Giants and the Colts in the Superbowl. Just like the old…old days :o)
Put up yer dukes if that happens. There will be some seriously silly sparring going on buster… 😉
Despite the fact that the Seahawks are playing like crap in Tennessee, I still think they’re going to win the NFC.
This year, anyway.
The Giants are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the next few years though. I am not a fan of the Manning brothers, but I will grant you that Eli appears to be the real deal.
Just want to say Hi to you Booman and send my best wishes to you for this holiday season.
I have been very busy with my move, but I still get a chance to read this site a little. Come Jan..I will have more time to participate.
Be of good cheer.
Hugs and love, Diane. You’re always here in spirit.
Hugs and love to you too Susan and best wishes for the Season..
Wonder if Ariel Sharon will be able to keep governing ….
FOX says it’s a mild stroke. One news headline I saw said he’d fallen unconscious (but I didn’t read the story for the details).

Hey Boo, can I pour the bottle of Absinthe down her cleavage for New Year’s?
Could this be the answer to those last-minutes gifts I cannot think of? Hmmm…
Why is art so moving? Thats beautiful. Thanks CabinGirl.
You’re welcome! Now if only that Frank Zappa iTunes link over there on the left would stop calling to me…“must…download…Joe’s Garage…now.”

Does anything else MATTER?!
(Oh and my Seahawks just scored a TD. Whew. it was 21-24 just a minute ago…. agnst Tennessee.)
this nifty piece concerning a reward for Viveca Novak’s service to Rove and BushCo.
They don’t even try to hide their egregious quid pro quo shit!

Daschle and Pelosi recently backed Robert Lenhard, associate general counsel of ASCME and one of the lawyers who opposed the BCRA in federal court, to replace Scott Thomas on the Commission.

We’d occasionally meet for a drink – he didn’t like having lunch – at Café Deluxe on Wisconsin Avenue, near the National Cathedral and on my route home. In October 2003, as we each made our way through a glass of wine, he asked me what I was working on.
Eh … is Patrick Fitzgerald aware of coincidence?

Reid backed him too, but whether all of this was before his wife became revealed as a Bush regime enabler or not I don’t know.
I suspect the Dem leadership backed this controversial guy mainly because he was a “democrat”, revealing once again how shallow and self-serving our leadership is and why we need to get rid of them all.
D-E-P-R-E-S-S-I-O-N……. It’s almost Christmas, my country is going to hell in a hand-basket, & there’s 9″ of snow on the ground with more on the way. I’m ready to curl up under the covers and refuse to come out until 2009.

Thanks for the reminder, Toni! KatieBird is nagging people too :):)
OMG, I almost forgot this: Last night, on CSPAN, they interviewed a guy in New Jersey who used to coach youth baseball with Alito, and they asked him all kinds of questions about what kind of a guy he was. That was a substantive contribution to the debate.
And I haven’t heard your answer yet, missy!
So, was Alito a hot-head Little League dad or a know it all?
Armando at DKos has a good refutation of uber-fascist John Yoo’s bogus legal argument supporting Bush’s powers under the constitution.

MilitaryTracy mostly. This is one of the best diaries I’ve ever read.
And impeaching Bush. I hope that Washingtong DC has been flooded with messages of outrage.
Here’s the letters to my Senators:
Senator,
I struggled to find the right topic for this message from your web form pull down list. At the risk of sounding somewhat outrageous, may I suggest you add Nation of Law or US Constitution to the list. I cannot express the depth of my concern for our country after finding out that the Executive Branch is conducting domestic surveillance using the National Security Agency without proper judicial review.
Please act in every way to stop this practice now and conduct a through public investigation. President Bush took the oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. He cannot ignore the Constitution when it is convenient, nor use 9/11 as an excuse to subvert our nation.
I applaud your actions to block the Patriot Act and to reign in torture. We cannot win the war on terror by becoming what we are fighting.
Yours,
Glen
I sent messages to my congressman (Dennis Moore) and one Senator (Brownback), I can’t find the link to Pat Roberts contact page & haven’t gone back to hammer on the site to finish it.
I’m hoping they actually answer my direct question. What are the odds?
Should I send it to others also?
This is what I sent:
I am deeply concerned about the recent news of illegal government spying of American citizens.
I am terrified and appalled by President Bush’s assertion that he considers illegal spying on citizens necessary and will, indeed continue the practice. This president is making the unprecedented claim that he can openly defy American law.
Are you going to allow him to do it? What, if any action are you planning to take to see that this practice stops, to assure us, voting citizens of the 3rd District in Kansas that you are protecting our interests.
Sincerely worried,
katiebird (not my real name)
Tracy’s diary is extraordinary. She sees so much more than most of us.
Seeing, that’s certainly important. But writing so eloquently — That’s the best part of what she’s shared with us.
I’m really hating all the bs involved in the alleged holiday season. I’m not only not a Christian but am despite my best efforts becoming completely biased against the religion and its followers. And for some reason I didn’t take care of the usual obligations until late (for me-sometimes it’s done before thanksgiving) like yesterday and I about had a panic attack getting jostled in yet one more trendy shop, looking for a present for someone I only see two or three times a year. She’s still a kid so I can’t blow it off quite yet. And my relatives don’t like used or homemade stuff but at least they did limit it to $20 or under per person. All I want is more quality time with them, lazy time being together.
I’m giving framed photographs this year (and maybe from now on). Next year, I think I will even make the frames myself (although if you get them on sale they aren’t too expensive and we do the matting ourselves).
I don’t like the materialism of Christmas gifts, but I’m finding that I actually enjoy matching the photograph to the person. And even, in some cases going out and deliberately taking photographs until I get the right one for a particular person.
For the first time in ages, I’ve really been enjoying the preparations.
PARANOIA, after reading some of the earlier posts today. For some strange reason, this popped into my head…

Just got the coolest e-mail from a couple who were very involved in our Dean Meetups, house parties, and caucus campaigns … he’s a retired prof. of theology:
P.S. Our old Dean list is still going strong — over 100 members — we stay in touch with each other that way. It’s so nice.
