I estimate turnout 100-150, not bad for a miserable night. I did get a few decent pictures in spite of the dark and the pouring rain.
Judging from the honks, many passing drivers were supportive.

I thought I despised and feared the Bush administration, but these even more alarmist folks from Not In Our Name made me seem optimistic~
As usual, when I play photographer I can’t participate fully in the rally or listen with concentration, so I missed much of what was said.
A speaker I liked was Rev. Lang from Trinity Methodist church, which has been active in the Peace movement; I recognize the name from other peace coalition actions. He painted a grim picture of the upcoming fascist-dominated years, yet was quietly motivational, rather than angry and shouting like the NION speakers often are (with good reason, but if it grates on even me…)
I’m surprised the 34th Dems agreed to participate, since the chair has said he doesn’t want to demonstrate alongside of the abrasive ANSWER, and many of these people were just that. The banner looked fabulous, though (not just cause it’s mine…)
NION said they planned to go to DC and do this same presentation in front of the White House. Hmmm…
Dina
what if a PCO REFUSES to carry literature for a candidate who is endoresed but the PCO can’t stand and can’t bring himself to do anything for someone who can’t do anything for the people she can’t properly represent?
can’t figure this one out.

PCO 36-1392
I am considering such a revolt, if Cantwell doesn’t change. I may even consider resigning my position as PCO, if I’m required to carry water for Cantwell as part of my job.
I don’t think my district would be happy about that at all.
Why don’t you bring it up to your district Chair, or E-board member?
don’t resign – I got an idea – I am going to post this tonight / tomorrow

SUBJECT
100+ PCO’s Who Can’t Doorbell,…
BODY
Can’t Donate, Can’t Phonebank, Can’t Work for Maria Cantwell.
The bottom 95% have been losing since the 70’s, and I’ve been told how wimpy “Democrats” are better than right nuts for 20 of those 30 losing years. I am sick of being “lead” by losers, and there are too many important issues and great candidates to do something for.
I will only make this pledge if 100 other PCOs join me.
I will set up a yahoo mail group so that everyone can organize themselves.
Great sign, Dina!! Grateful you stood out in the dark, miserable, cold rain. Did it Friday myself down here in Portland.
Keep up the good work!
