What’s going on is my most outrageously talented, compassionate and beautiful daughter Sarah brought the house down with her solo at the high school.
I never understood comments like who says men don’t cry. Shit I cry like a baby ALL the time because I have been so unbelievably blessed.
That’s what’s going on in Super’s world tonight.
Thanks for asking.
That is wonderful, ss. I think I can understand that kind of emotion. Congratulations with her successful performance.
Excellent……..Excellent…
Yes,
thank you both for the kind words to the proud Daddy :o)
She really is very exceptional if I may say so myself.
Vocal or instrumental — if the latter, what instrument?
(Musician’s curiosity…)
Congrats to her and to her parents… 🙂
I’m sorry.
I should have said vocal. We’re really so fortunate to have such a strong music program in our schools here and my kids, all three, have been in them all along. A difficult but necesarry burden because of the cost of living here. I moved from school to school as a kid and I think it had a huge negative effect on me so I’m happy to be able to keep my own kids in one place….so far.
That is so cool Super. There is nothing quite like watching our children/grandchildren develop a talent. My Grandleezy started piano last year and she has these amazingly long fingers andat nine years old is just a natural. Her teacher is amzed at how quickly she grasps things. She blows me away. So I know that feeling you describe. By the way, I love a guy that openly cries!!
Too much!
Pressure at work.
Unnecessary attacks on Susan.
Some of the cartoons posted in JP were truly tasteless and insulting. But I suspect that what really stirred up the trouble were images that were not among the 12.
From The Globe and Mail:
Lots of detail in above article. Good background info for this growing controversy.
Nothing good. Had to deal w/another do-nothing bureaucrat. (Is there any other?) All I constantly hear is “My caseload is too big.” And what do they do all day? Surf the net, whine about how busy they are (while their just as lazy co-workers hold their hand), and if they are asked a ?, the answer is “It’s not my job!” I have yet to meet a government employee who actually works!
Hi Streetkid,
sorry that nothing good is happening but tomorrow’s another day :o)
Otherwise I’m not touching your comment about govt. workers with a ten foot cursor ;o)
tomorrow’s another day
Yeah, that is what’s scary, as I see no signs of it getting any better. Wish I could get a government job!
The caseload may well be too big. Thats your taxcuts at work. But frustration is frustration.
I live on SSD/I and other social programs, which are always being gutted and lazy state employees don’t have to give up a thing, thanks to their fat union contracts!
And, in the area that I live in, there is only 1 Section 8 agent for the entire county–has been that way since the early ’90’s. The section 8 agent still does the job alone, w/o complaining.
Other government employees have been saying that for years! And, as far as I am seen, it is just another excuse for them to do nothing! And others in my situation feel the exact same way!
To be that lazy when you are involved in social work is pretty criminal. I hope you have better luck. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the most oil! Bug the hell out of them. If its widespread report them. That sucks.
Believe it or not, I have reported them–another state agency oversees as to whether or not they are doing their jobs. CYA at its finest!
Sadly, I don’t Know All, it seems.
I forgot about the hotlisting, which means that the same diary will have to be updated and resubmitted each time, but I don’t know how to do that. Well, I know how to do the updating, but not the resubmitting that will allow it to appear again on the ‘recent diaries’ list.
🙁
Dunno if anyone’s still reading this thread, but I do believe I have Susanhu’s monitor taken care of. She’s on a Mac, and a newer one at that, so that is good. My computer club is Mac. Today’s Macs just need any USB monitor, so that’s easy, it could come from anyone.
She clearly needs to do some maintenance on the machine itself, though, so anyone wanting to chip in funds still has a valid option. She’ll need to buy some software to do periodic “housecleaning” of the machine.
And then there’s the eyes thing — what $300-500 to get the appointment and glasses? She should have two sets of glasses, one for regular use, and one for reading at the comuter, whatever distance she usually sits from the computer.
If no one in my club has a monitor lurking around, one could be purchased here at RePC or similar, I’d be surprised if for more than $25 or $50. (I have several inquiries out now, including to two people who are fanatics about collecting used stuff and passing it on.)
She also needs some basic advice about maintaining her computer. I should be able to channel some of that her way. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a geek, I just play one… no, not even that, I’m a social activist. I just belong to the user’s group because my measly little $60/year saves me hundreds of dollars in consultants fees, and occasionally a hundred or two in purchasing advice.
Again, I’m a social activist, so look for a diary from this subject.
