The dogs have been searching for Keres, Luna, Albert, Myriad, and the ducks but no luck so far. Their current plan is to dig their way to Australia.
The only problem is that they aren’t making much headway because they keep having to stop and rest.
So who wants to help them dig?
All critters welcome, especially those with built in digging implements.
Wow — Thursday Moose Blogging! Did you take that picture? I’ve been looking to spot a moose for years when I’m up in Minnesota and so far no luck.
And great view of the backends of the dogs.
That was taken in Grand Tetons National Park. We’ve got several moose pictures but this is by far the best. All our moose pictures have been in Wyoming and Montana.
Yesterday, which was Thursday here, I spent about 8 hours doing graphics and layout, and couldn’t be bothered to do anymore images.
This morning, I went looking for some old pictures to reuse, and came across this drawing of mine. It’s of the horse I used to have, Mojave. She’s a Norwegian Fjord Horse, hence the upright bicolored mane.
About a year ago, when Imogen/myriad and I finally found a house with some pasture and were just getting ready to arrange for her to be shipped to Australia, she had a stroke. She survived, but it was no longer possible to bring her here. I gave her to a family, with two young daughters, who all adored her. It broke my heart.
Peace
Thanks Dada.
Since colored pencil is a very subtle medium, the reduced sized image above doesn’t really do the drawing justice. So, here’s a link to a larger sized version. It will take a bit to load if you are on dial-up (as I am).
That’s gorgeous- I hope you’ll post more of your drawings.
and only have a few of my drawings as digital images.
In case you missed it, I posted this ink and watercolor card just after the winter holidays.
It features Bart (aka “MoonWise Ursa’s Betelguise,” one of the pups out of my girl Ursula). My was my ex’s dog more than mine, and she took him when we broke up about four years ago.
It’s from one of the only two oil paintings I’ve ever done.
The this portion of the painting is nearly three feet high, just to give you a sense of scale.
Sorry if I’m blowing out anyone’s margins. But if I go too small, I lose all the details.
It’s beautiful and Ursual is beautiful — but it took me a second to realize that it was a self portrait of YOU and you had cropped yourself out. I was prepared to be completely amazed that Ursula could do such marvelous self portraits.
If any dog could have painted (oh, the mess sho would have made), it would have been Ursula. She was truly one of the most amazing creatures, ever.
It must have just killed you to give her up but at least the two little girls will love her.
Much as I like photographs of animals, drawings by their humans just tug at my heart. This is not just a representation of her, it is your interpretation of her. Which is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
I’ll be glad to leave it to you from here on — you have much better pictures. (You’ve given so many people a dog jones that I got asked to do this today when there was no diary up earlier.)
Your drawing is wonderful.
go ahead and say it — I whined until someone (you) did it. But you must also disclose that it was I who was worried last week that something happened to the down unders since we hadn’t heard from them.
Why counselor, I believe you are leading the witness 🙂
GracieDog is doing what I wish I was doing right now.
She’s the lounge princess…
Beautiful aussie…I have two. I love them!
Here’s a poem about a dog and moving (sorry I couldn’t find one about a dog and a horse much less a dog and a moose)
Stalker
I can’t figure it out:
You don’t seem alarmed by the man who has followed us here
from our last address.
How did he find us?
It is the same guy, isn’t it?
The door to his vehicle, being closed,
Sounds the same. The clothing, the same.
The footsteps on the porch, the same.
Well, sort of the same …
But you never let the hulk in,
So I can’t tell for sure.
Tell me: What does he want?
I bark and growl and paw the glass (I tore the curtain once).
My hackles are spindles. And you?
You come blithely down the stairs
and pick up off the floor what he’s left you,
paper pushed through the slot.
You look it over, then you tear it apart.
And I can only wait for another chance to do the same to him,
tomorrow.

A view of Blue from the handlebars.
You two must be talented. If I tried that with my dogs, that blue leash would be tangled up in my wheels in about two minutes.
What kind of dog is blue?
Border Collie/Husky (we think) although she comes in at about 68 lbs when she’s in good running shape so she’s big for either.
We do a six mile loop, that usually takes less than 20 minutes, I hardly touch the pedals, but ride the brakes a lot.
So far, I’ve only taken a couple of tumbles, usually a squirrel or rabbit, and of course usually in full view of a neighbor.
That’s an interesting mix (I can see the border collie part, but does she have a huskyish tail?)…which part wins out, the border collie-type herding instinct, or the desire to roam that comes with a husky?
I think the Husky wins out, she’s a big time alpha, she must be the dominate and immediately challenges any other dog, when she manages to get out, she’ll roam for about 1/2 hour then come back to see if anyone’s looking for her.
Its the husky eyes.
