See, the rotten thing about being on the West Coast is, we have to work three hours later than you slobs on the East Coast.
On the other hand we get to sleep three hours longer than you do on Monday morning, so nyaaaaah.
What building is that Chihuly in, anyway? I’d want to be very certain what’s holding it up.
Oh, and by the way, tonight we are going to a musical version of The Wedding Singer, which will be going from Seattle straight to Broadway after it closes in a couple of weeks. This will be at Seattle’s Fifth Avenue Theater. I will check to be sure, but I think it may be the only building of cultural significance in Seattle without a Chihuly hanging over the lobby.
No wonder I’ve never seen it, I haven’t been to Tacoma in, geez, it must be about 20 years.
I had to go look to see which Union Station it was, as there’s one here in Seattle that isn’t generally open to the public. Someone has refurbished it and, since it isn’t being used as a train station anymore, they rent it out for private events.
Holdover note to DJ (from discussion at the last cafe’):
Y’know, now that I’ve reviewed your case (heh): considering that your ear is already draining — the infection is being flushed out — you can probably bypass putting tincture directly into the ear canal & just take it orally. This will assist the healing that’s already underway.
Okay it is draining but it’s not the good kind. The lady remembered my husband. Said I should go see a doctor since it’s been a while and might need argghh antibiotics but that the Mullen Garlic Compound by Herb Pharm would help clearing up the drain – then dry syndrome I’m having. It’s an oil extract.
She also said to use the echinecia tincture orally to help with the inner infection.
Sorry to hear that you’re still battling that ear thing, DJ! Just sending my kind thoughts for a quick recovery from the chilly Midwest. Wilderness Wench’s suggestions sounded pretty sound to me… I’m not the herbalist in the house, but I think he’d agree with her too. Get some rest and shake off that bug, DJ… you got some hell raising to get done!
Thanks Iowa! How sweet. I’m okay, really. I feel horrible for KatieBird, though.
The ear gets me at night and I have this fear of losing more hearing. so… yeah I have to get off my ass and get to the docs. It’s wild… we finally have medical coverage and I’m still living like I’m not.
Meant to tell you before the last Cafe closed that there’s going to be a South Bay CodePINK!!! I’m really excited about it — haven’t been able to really do much with the SF Bay group because their meetings are waaaaay too far for me at night as a non-car driver. At least with a South Bay group I can get there, and get close enough to home by transit that the spouse can come pick me up. Missed the first meeting (didn’t find out about it till after I got home from the in-laws), but asked them to keep me posted, so hope to be doing quite a bit with them.
I just wanted to have a quick, drive-by celebration. Student Council (which I advise) just had its first pep rally in three years without a fight. I’ll be back tomorrow sometime, I’ve got to head to the basketball game to sell 50/50 tickets.
Cool, but chilly looking, pic there NDD. Looks like real winter just started down my way (Des Moines) this week as well, though we’ve only gotten a bit over an inch of snow and no howling winds yet. That will probably be tomorrow and Sunday, since I’m off and have things I want to do outside. All in all though, we’ve had a bizarrely mild winter… guessing you have too?
you got it, ave temps for Jan were 18 F degrees above average. Jan ave temps set an all time record high.
Old timers (94) have no memory of a whole winter like this. Shorter periods where snow melted into sloughs, then froze hard again, which made for great natural ice skating rinks.
But not a whole winter in a range of 12 to 36 F (days with lows below zero I think could yet be counted using less than the ten fingers.)
I think the digital has some difficulty in adjusting to a heavy overcast situation, as to the eyes the scene was somewhat brighter. ‘course if I read the manual I may find an adjustment that could be made… if I could find the manual… the Ayespawnyole copy is a tad too challenging.
Okay, here I am making a tentative offer to help on Wednesdays. Tentative because I don’t really know what I’m doing. This was in reply to a discussion on the Barn raising thread. Thanks, Manny, for suggesting I bring it here.
Okay, I’m sort of blushing ashamed of myself right now — I guess I really haven’t been writing that much lately, have I? Oh, dear…
So, um, yes. I know how to do regular diaries, but have no idea how to do the cafes. I just pop in once in a great while. So any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. You can email me if it’s easier.
I guess my basic questions are if there’s a template of some sort, and is it an all day thing or… I don’t know. I’m sure there are unknown unknowns.
Still at work…so just a drive by. And what is that thing on the ceiling??? it’s almost obscene….
Mr.Cat has disconnected my computer at home already…so I’m already in withdrawal knowing I can’t party tonight when I get home. Oh well…new paint, new curtains, new desk….now where oh where do I get a new brain???

Just till happy hour…

Union Station…
on the Seattle trip this summer — is there any sort of guide to where they can be found?
Would love to have some shots of my own…

Have you got something for heartburn? (No, not about Bushco, I mean actual heartburn.)

And I got a cookie
Thank you Wilderness!

You will feel so empowered. I swear! It really helps with the depression and the frustration.

Finally we get a little real winter weather, but still relatively warm…
IF you don’t count the wind chill factor
larger

I’m very glad it’s you experiencing that and not me (although it isn’t much warmer here, it doesn’t look as cold).
It looks like a negative.

I have some info I can send you on doing froggy bottom cafes. Do you need to know general info on doing diaries, too?

I just sent you an email with info and several attachments. Let me know if you don’t get it.
I got it, thanks! I’ll go look now…
Thanks, Izzy! It’ll be so good to have you. The cafe is much more fun with a real live host.
Thanks! I hope we all know what we’re getting ourselves in to!

Chilly and windy here; I can just feel the nor’easter brushing past west of here and getting ready to wallop the northeast this weekend. nyah nyah.
tee hee hee….I found 2 new kitten websites last night…and a few puppy sites as well.
Since Man Eegee is allergic to pooties…here’s a puppy pic for him and the puppy crowd!
Nap time – preceding Happy Hour
It is so much like spring….and Friday….and geez do I really need to finish that damn report!!??!?
Did everyone hear that Diane is going to start hosting the cafe again on Sundays?
Though I miss BrotherF, I know Diane will be a welcome re-addition…
Come to the lounge.
