“President promised two years ago that he would fire the leaker. He hasn’t kept his promise. Karl Rove is not only still working in the White House, but he has security clearance. Now it turns out that the vice-president of the United States may have been responsible for those leaks for
political reasons. That is the kind of thing that has not been done to my knowledge since Aaron Burr was vice president.” Howard Dean- Face the Nation, February 12th, 2006
Aaron Burr is also the last Vice-President to shoot anyone.
And is my sig appropriate, under the circumstances?
Heh
This should get picked up by Atrios.
What does the Egyptian God of eternity have to do with this?
Trust me, I was not insinuating that Booman is a god.
Although that’s very interesting, if true. Link?
If the shoe fits…
Anyone see 60 minutes tonight? It was pretty devestating to the Bush Admin. First segment was on War Profiteering and how billions of dollars are missing in Iraq. Second was on people donating their own embryos for stem cell research and Bush opposition to it. The guy representing the administration was a complete ass (I know, no big surprise there). Third was on Iraq War soldiers coming back as amputees or with TBIs. It was an amazing segment.
Damn! Wish I’d have caught that one!
You can say what you want to about Gov. Dean, but the man does say what he means, and means what he says. Like to see him on the ticket one way or the other in 08. Also, I wonder if BooMan is considering a gig as a stand in for Bill Maher?
Yes it is refreshing. But I like the fact that not only is he on the correct side of the controversy, he tries to come up with REALISTIC ways of achieving his goals. It is one thing to be an idealogue who says what he means and means what he says but doesn’t live in reality. He’s not like that. He’s PRACTICAL.
Dean, I mean.
Thought I’d share this link to a very eloquently written piece by William Pfaff at the IHT concerning the ‘the long war’ & the ‘radical threat to the United States’. A worthwhile read, for the simplicity of statements regarding some very basic truths.

(Apologies for the full link; can’t seem to imbed as per usual.)
The radical threat to the United States is at home.
Pretty much says it all doesn’t it?
That’s what I like best about Pfaff’s mode of communication — his simplicity. He seems to be addressing a concept that many, many folks might have trouble getting their minds around, using very clear & unequivocal language.
Several of us have had problems posting. I thought it was just Photobucket’s tag, but it seems to be different.
I can’t post here using the tag now, I have to do the image this way.
< img src=”location”>
And I don’t know yet how to do a link consistently here anymore. I tried to post a diary today, and got a target attribute error on a link.
Not sure what is going on.
We were talking about that earlier in the cafe, and the way I’ve been dealing with it is to delete the < a href…target…”blank” > and < /a > strings of html that are now part of the photobucket-generated tag. which leaves you with the < img src=… > string for your post. That gets rid of the target attribute error for me.
Here’s something freaky: Howard Dean calls the vice president “Aaron Burr” the day after the latter shoots a man.
Very weird.
Jung would have a lot to say about this, huh?
Maybe he had heard rumors of the shooting.
That must be it.
or maybe if you ripped off his shirt you’d find a great big S on his underwear and we could prove he’s really superman.
sorry, tinfoil hat theory.
Me, I wonder at the fact that the news was withheld until the following day, then released. What was the point of that? Is Whittington worse off than we think? (He was shot in the neck, after all.)
Supposedly he is still in ICU but they claim he’s just fine.
Normally I would say that nobody is in ICU unless they are in need of serious medical attention. On the other hand, maybe they just need to observe him and ICU is the only secure location in the hospital where the VP can sit with him.
via ABC via Josh Marshall:
So he’s so great he’s just hanging out in a livingroom type way (whatever that means) but he’s in ICU because he should be in ICU (not a living room or even a regular hospital room). Whole thing doesn’t make sense.
That’s the way it is when you’re busy manufacturing reality 😉
My understanding now is that the information wasn’t released to the national media at all until the local paper in Corpus Christi got hold of it (apparently through the owners of the ranch). In the interim, I s’pose the general story could be properly ‘handled’.
It’s all still quite fuzzy & I certainly don’t count on White House clarity for remedy.
In any case, what seems certain now is that Cheney is both a jerk and an idiot.
and just plain incompetent.
All of the above.

Hi Booman,
Please please do not advocate “firing” or “resignation.
Briefly, resignation or firing is a mere slap on the hand. Something you do for a cashier that has stolen under $100.
Impeachment is the ONLY way we can insure a few things according to our constitution:
So I beg of you to advocate the use of Impeachment as the judicious tool it was meant to be by our founding fathers. Otherwise we will keep repeating this nightmare scenario every 30-40 years and not become the country we all know we can be.
It’s a sign of progress when we are discussing HOW Cheney should go, and not IF.
