The President KNEW…
Katrina was coming.
The President KNEW…
that Brownie had phoned…
…on the day that the levees had breached to tell him that New Orleans was sinking…
The President KNEW…
…that day.
The President KNEW…
…that day.
The President KNEW…
…that day.
The President KNEW…
…that day.
The President KNEW…
…the following day, too.
The President’s wife KNEW…
…the following day, too.
The President KNEW…
…the following day, too.
The President KNEW…
…but pretended that he didn’t.
The President KNEW…
LIAR!
“I don’t think anyone could have anticipated the breach of the levees.”
– President Bush – September 1, 2005
.
.
.
“We didn’t know about this in the White House.”
.
.
.
“When that storm came through at first, people said, “Phew!” There was a sense of relaxation at a critical moment.”
.
.
.
“We view this storm as a ‘temporary’ disruption.”
– President Bush – Aug & Sept, 2005
LISTEN TO THIS BUSH COMPILATION ABOUT KATRINA
(600kb, approx. 3 minutes)
Regarding Bush, the report found that “earlier presidential involvement could have speeded the response” because he alone could have cut through all bureaucratic resistance.
.
.
.
“If 9/11 was a failure of imagination then Katrina was a failure of initiative. It was a failure of leadership,” the report’s preface states. “In this instance, blinding lack of situational awareness and disjointed decision making needlessly compounded and prolonged Katrina’s horror.”
.
.
.
Given those warnings, the report notes Bush’s televised statement on Sept. 1 that “I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees,” and concludes: “Comments such as those . . . do not appear to be consistent with the advice and counsel one would expect to have been provided by a senior disaster professional.”

Despite what we will probably hear in the coming weeks — this horrendous American tragedy was due to a pitiful vacuum of leadership and criminal negligence…
…EXTENDING DIRECTLY TO THE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
(please recommend, if you believe this story is important to be exposed for all to see.)
Thanks for bringing it here. As the old saying goes, A picture is worth a thousand words. When will the MSM ever realize this? What happened to all the photo-journalists?
You’re welcome!
This is my first post at Booman.
Actually — I can’t believe I’m saying this — but, for this story, the corporate media has done a decent job.
There are over 1200 stories on Google about Brown’s testimony — and most of it is damning.
What does surprise me is that not a lot of liberal blogs are giving it attention. It’s reverse bizarro world for this one.
That’s why I’ve cross-posted it here.
For anyone wanting to cross-post this elsewhere — please do!
welcome to BooTrib and thanks for posting.
I’ve been mostly offline for much of the last two days. I think the lies about the levees and also about whether or not Bush knew Abramoff are the kind of base lies that turn people’s stomachs.
Lies about national security can always be explained away. Lies about who you know are just lies. This could be a more damaging week to Bush than Abu Ghraib.
Glad to be here, Booman!
I think this a HUGE lie. Why?
good to know. All my morning talk shows were preempted by local news on the blizzard. We got about a foot of snow here in Philly.
Ahh…snow!
I remember it well.
Hey, STOP George, glad to see you! And hope to see more of your work here. Recommended!
Thanks! Will do.
Did you catch this one?
Welcome to the Pond! Sure hope you will consider posting here more often. I have read other diaries by you at Kos and like what I read. You will find a great group of people that are genuinely concerned for the future of our country and each other. Hop on over to the Cafe threads too and introduce yourself.
Welcome to BT, and thanks for posting it here.
Personally, I think that the pressure is mounting and at any time it will hit the fan. Bozo can not keep avoiding all the screw ups he’s done.
No pun intended, but I think we are seeing the build up of the perfect storm. And when it comes, not even god will be able to help him.
PS: keep posting here!
But it wasn’t about race, you know, and it wasn’t about wiping a democratic stronghold off the map. We’re the greatest nation on earth, we keep our people safe. (Yeah, and ketchup is vegetable).
When will the American people ever wake up and believe their lying fucking EYES!!!!
The inability/refusal on the part of the American people to respond to the FEMA fiasco with protests, outrage, and an absolute NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE….cannot be blamed on the media coverage. The media came through on that one. And they still are–I am seeing widespread coverage of this on all the MSM.
Where are the people?
I agree.
That’s why I’m somewhat stunned that a lot of the liberal blogs (highly visited, too) are not covering this.
Cross-post away, people!
Only explanation I can come up with is that they look outside the window, see the car parked in the driveway, they check their bank account balances and credit limits, look around to see who their neighbors are and conclude:
I have a car, Ihave cash on hand (if not, for everthing else there’s mastercard), my neighbors are not black. Hence, if Katrina should ever come calling in this neck of the woods, I would be among the “chosen few”–I would not end up at the convention center or the superdome.
Best get back to working on that 2006 campaign!
I’ll shoot off a check to Katrina relief all the same, just so I can better sleep at night.
(Sorry, feeling rather cynical again today).
And to an extent, some of them are right. People with the resources to do so did leave New Orleans before the hurricane hit, and those who had enough resources to purchase homes in the French Quarter have not suffered substantial property loss.
without mainstream indifference to the plight of the poor, it is possible that Operation Crescent Cleansing might not have been as successful. However Katrina did not create that indifference, though it has surely validated and solidified it as a cultural value.
What will be interesting is to see the reaction as more are downwardly mobilized into the poverty class, as they discover that 3 checks away from the street was not quite the cushion they had hoped.
That the Bush WH puts people into two groups: very, very rich people that support us and everybody else.
Bush’s supporters are just starting to show up in NO now to “acquire” all that good cheap real estate.
Everyone else, well Cheney said it best, go f&*k yourself.
Thanks for getting a handle on the point about the cushion……..couldn’t find a way to formulate it…you nailed it.
First they came for the [FILL IN THE BLANK, ANY BLANK]….and when they came for me……
I wish we could print this in magazine format and publish millions of copies.
We can cross-post it until it does, perhaps.
just occurred to me that this would make an excellent protest banner.
Good idea!
Maybe freeway blogger can get into it too.
He knew about the towers but just sat there in the classroom with a children’s book in his hand!
I think the real power of what you have done here is put the photos with the story/timeline. Seems that we are now at a place where story minus pictures is no story. This is why the press is in such a snit about the Abramoff photos. It doesn’t matter whether or not there is a story about a connection between Abramhoff and Bush if there are no photos.
So putting Bush’s knowledge about what was going on with photos about what he DID – absolutely outrageous and powerful.
Aw, shucks! Thanks!
It was fairly easy to do, however. I’ve never forgotten what happened to New Orleans.
You’ve got the paper trail!!!!
New York Criminal Law – Class E Felony
Bush should be in jail.
Seeing as this (Brownie’s remarks re: gwb knowing) is coming out in more and more places, I am wondering if this might be the thing that wakes people up as to wtf is really going on.
I’m betting on it.
Thanks for this. I’m afraid we all need to reminded on this from time to time. Saw a blurb on (I believe it was CNN of all places) showing acres of mobile homes sitting empty on some airport land up in Arkansas. These apparently were meant for the Katrina victims, but there they sit. Feds are paying our money to a town in Arkansas to store these housing units. While the victims??
Have we ever considered all the ppl who have died stateside with this president at the helm. This alone is such a wake up call to everyone. But ofcourse, this is they way he runs his business..other ppl get hurt not him or his loved ones. It is always that way with this man! I want him in jail for the rest of his natural life! Amen….
Stop George, welcome and do come back. YOu are very welcome here and I would enjoy your commentary more often. Thank you for such a great diary.
